Thank you so much! I'm trying to learn ASL because I think it's really cool how you can still communicate with people, even if they can't hear! I learned a lot from this video!
My granddaughter who's 4 picked up with this video pretty well. Of course when it came to zombie she said " monster again "? Mahalo ( thanks) Meredith from Honolulu, Hawaii 🤙
Thanks for the note! So glad you're taking an online class and hope these videos do help you practice. Let me know how else I can support your ASL studies!
Hi John, thanks for sharing! I'm so glad that you're learning ASL to support and communicate with your daughter. Keep up the great work, and let me know how else I can help!
You are so beautiful and i never found an interest in asl till i found your video. Your an inspiration to all and i always look forward to watching your videos.
Hello Meredith so you let me know that you can speak and you've been signing since you were a kid but I was wondering what exactly got you to start signing, did you know someone who was deaf or what? Like always great video. Maybe you could do a video on how you started signing and let us know something's about yourself and is it you that does the narrating in the video's?
Hi Emily, thank you for your questions! I did a little "Why I Sign" video on Instagram a while back. Here's the regular video, and also the half-speed video if you'd like to follow the signing. The caption contains a translation :) instagram.com/p/B2wsWW4nCgd instagram.com/p/B2yqrzfHbxJ
Hi, I am actually learning ASL because of you. You are amazing and I thinks it’s incredible to have an entire conversation with your body. I have some questions and I would like to email you. Is that possible? I work for Homeland Security and I would like to know some phrases in asl that would relate to my job
Hi Alan. Good question! I did sign this. It's a descriptive sign rather than a single sign that means 'trick or treat'. See the part at 5:47 - ua-cam.com/video/F-Rd_XgGWPk/v-deo.html
Hi there! Sorry for the delay - I'm a bit too late. But the sign for "Trick or treat" is as shown in the video here -- not one particular sign but a brief description of the action. Otherwise you can just -- when someone opens the door -- sign happy halloween and ask for candy :)
Is the sign for monster and haunted the same? Also when you sign blood it looks like the first part of that sign is 'red' but what if you sign blue blood? Would it look like 'blue red blood'?
Yes, they're quite similar. They'll usually be differentiated by context and facial expression -- with MONSTER showing more of a 'monster'-like face. And for "blood" - yes, I show both versions of the sign, one which begins with the sign RED, and sometimes the red drops and only the running fingers are signed. For "blue blood" - like the TV show? or in general referring to the color of blood that is not red? In general, the color is signed after the object, so if we're going to say that blood is blue, we'd sign BLOOD BLUE, where "blood" could either include or not include the 'red' part of the sign.
Thank you so much! I'm trying to learn ASL because I think it's really cool how you can still communicate with people, even if they can't hear! I learned a lot from this video!
So glad you're learning!
I know I've said it so many times, but I love your vids. I love how you show different angles. This is amazing!
Thanks again, Scott! I'm so glad you find these useful :) :) stay in touch and keep signing!
It's one of the funniest videos I've ever watched. I learned a lot of signs of my favorites words. Thanks a lot, Meredith!

Thank YOU!
good video
Glad you enjoyed! Happy Halloween!🎃
What is 'hypnotize' or 'hypnotized' in ASL?
I’m learning a lot
That's great, thanks!
is that trick or treat how its said door to door, or when describing what is done?
The whole thing: Door door door, and knocking / asking for candy
I nanny a boy with delayed speech. Is there a sign for "trick or treat" so that he can say it when he goes out on Halloween?
Hi there! Sorry for the delay - I'm a bit too late. But the sign for "Trick or treat" is as shown in the video here -- not one particular sign but a brief description of the action. Otherwise you can just -- when someone opens the door -- sign happy halloween and ask for candy :)
I'm Deaf and I currently teach ASL classes. You signed for a haunted house and the monster is not correct.
If you don’t mind me asking, what is the correct sign?
Today is Halloween 🎃
31/oct/20
Yep! Hope you had a good Halloween.
This channel is a little jewel amongst all UA-cam videos, good job!
Wow, thank you! Glad you think so!
