  • Simple solution to operate the Tascam DR60 MkII without batteries. As demonstrated (but not documented by Tascam), it can operate from USB power but only if batteries are installed. This is annoying in a land where spent batteries are considered hazardous waste.

It will run on USB power (powerbank or mains adapter), it doesn't need batteries if it is running on BUS power. If that is dying after selecting BUS power then it is faulty, I have had this model, the DR70D and currently use the DR701 which all operate on the same principle. As a side note, I also have the DR40 which operates on the same principle and I have never had any problems with any of them so either your unit has a fault or there is something that you are doing that isn't right. These are all perfectly good, solid and reliable recorders. What you are doing here is unnecessarily overcomplicated, sorry if that offends but I speak from over 7 years experience with all of the recorders I have owned and never experienced any issues.

Perhaps you missed the part of the video where I demonstrated the problem. But feel free to post a video demonstrating that this problem is unique to my unit.
Perhaps you missed the POINT of the video, which is about solving a problem at little to no cost, using available resources. The lessons apply whether the problem is real, imagined, or caused by a defect.
Let's assume I have a defective unit. It is out of warranty, so I can't just send it back to Tascam to have it repaired (which would also mean that I am without the use of the device for some period of time). So what would be a less complicated (zero to no-cost) solution?
