We assume that advanced life seeks to epitomize technology, yet that is our own vane concepts of intelligence. Perhaps we are unique in the use of technology because of our organic shortcomings, while elsewhere technology is an inconvenient process of resolving issues. A universe filled with intelligent life that has never worked their way down structural technology to solve their problems within their worlds. It is all guess work until we can find at least two forms of external advanced civilizations for comparison.
The odds are great BUT "nothing ventured, nothing gained" AND the venture is certainly worth the effort.
wonder if all the signals SETI is searching for deteriorate into unrecognizable noise over long distances, then the 500k credits i've racked up on BOINC will be for nothing :( although it doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying, and having things to look forward to like a SETI finding, reusable rockets, breakthroughs in science and medicine, make the future exciting.

What about the crop circle that seems to be a reply to the digital icon we sent out? It's a strange icon in its own right. It may not be a hoax.

LOL, they're currently raising funds to get about 24 16TB Seagate hard drives, replacing a bunch of ~4TB that are reaching the end of their expected service life. Let's hope they have better life with the higher capacity models than I have with the smaller ones.
Is the Seti farm site still around? I couldn't find it... :(

BerkeleySETI Thanks, but I'm already a member. I'm just not sure if the Setifarm . org site is still around? It's mentioned at 18:05 but the first guy is holding a Pentium 1 so it's probably quite old?

Why is this guy rushing through this at breakneck speed like, ??? flicking through the graphics from one to the other, has he got a bus to catch?? the seti at home boinc software is hopeless, pretty pretty colors and tumbling graphs, with masses of menus and pointless adornments, the forums are full of complaints, problems etc . These guys should make it obvious to people that the chance of finding ET this way is nil, so the guy with 7 computers on a farm wont waste another minute on this fruitless search....
It;s always been a complete waste of time...see ‘To the Stars Academy’ the truth is now coming out.
Some of the examples are rather misplaced! Why do I need to know what 5 year old kids think about getting through the ice in Europa!!! The level of science in the video talk is rather low.
