This game hits the nail spot on from a wakeboarders perspective. The heart of wakeboarding is in Florida and murray is from missouri which explains the southern country vibe of the game.
Man your channel is such an underrated gem of UA-cam, your videos are always hilarious and interesting even when covering games I've never heard of. Keep up the consistently great content.
As a kid I played this game so much. I was never a very good wakeboarder aside from 180s 360s and some manuals. I read all the magazines and seeing my favorite wakeboards in a game was amazing. Wakeboarding will never be as popular as other sports due to the availability of the sport. But I have so much nostalgia for this game.
I LOVE THIS GAME, when I was 5 or so my teenage neighbors had this game and I would always watch but never get to play it. Finally after I graduated high-school I got a new PS2 and Wakeboarding Unleashed was one of the first games I got. So glad to see you did a video on this !!!
Damn.. those water physics and reflections are really impressive for PS2. I didn't even know this one existed but I will be keeping an eye out at garage sales for a cheap copy after seeing this review.
Snowboarding, surfing, and wakeboarding all seem to share one thing. The level dictates where the player goes, not the player. Skateboarding and BMX were the only ones that you get to explore on your own time.
@@SquareEyedJak I guess I always took something so simple for granted. Rollerblading would have be more interesting. Maybe designing more free and open levels was to much work for them.
Seems like activision's whole idea with 02 was just to take the word Pro, and staple it to any sport they found right, can't wait for Crash Bandicoot's Pro Platformer
I actually loved this game growing up. I was/am really into wakeboarding though, so that probably helped. Edit: Also surprised by the lack of Sean Murray/No Man's Sky references
I own a copy. I'd say Venice is the least interesting level overall, the theme park has some interesting bits off the beaten path if you're good enough to find them, but if you can get a handle on some of the physics, there's still nothing as fun as pulling some of the crazy jumps at Timber Lake or getting on top of the carrier in The Boneyard. Hell, The Bayou's a banger at level two. Props to anyone who managed to grind everything behind the buildings and over the land at the final stretch of the loop there.
And that final game was the unbelieveable sequel to Matt Hoffman Pro BMX 2, Matt Hoffman's: The Call of Duty - Revenge of The Tiki Gods "Man that pizza sure was tasty, oh yeah umm game is good buy it" 10/10 IGN
Thanks for the videos fam! Super entertaining and kept me waiting for the next release in your Hawktober series! EDIT: It would be very cool if you could get a map of the level before you enter it and have the option to draw out the path you want the boat to travel along!

I played a demo of Wakeboarding Unleashed on THPS4 back in the day but didn't get a copy until earlier this year. Its not that bad, better than I thought it would be. I consider Mat Hoffman the best 02 game but this game is better than the rest of them.
@@TimGaukerToons i feel like they obviously saw eventually that their attempts of blatant rip offs of thps were never going to live up to the hype of og thps ever. so in a easy marketing choice the easiest thing to do, was to change the aesthetic and name a bit, to see if by not using the same cover format, could generate more hype and sales...which was too little too late haha
You need to review MTX Mototrax next. It was supposed to be Travis Pastrana's o2 game but was released under regular Activision publishing. It's very similar to THPS 4 in how the career mode works. You can try out the demo in THUG on PS2.
I remember loving this game because it had a lot of interesting shit to grind. Made the game kind of feel more like Jet grind radio than a Tony Hawk clone game.
I fucking love this game. I rented it during a weekend when I didn't have a working memory card, so I have to leave the console on and never ultimately beat it. But damn, it had my attention 100%. So much fun.
What could the next game be?? I looked up all the O2 branded games and I am not seeing any games Jak hasn't already reviewed. The suspense is killing me!
It's MTX Mototrax. It was originally part of the O2 lineup under the title "Travis Pastrana's Pro MotoX" and came out around the same time as Underground (there was even a demo of it in THUG1, as well as a level from it in a leaked THUG1 beta build), but when the O2 project failed, it was renamed. Luckily, the only handheld version this time around was on the PSP, so no GBA shovelware.
The reflections and graphics for the most part are amazing for 2003. Also, the level design for the GBA version is incredibly accurate to real wakeboard cable parks. Just floating ramps and rails in a circle. That isn't better than arcady wacky levels like in the console version though but still, it was a good idea for them to do that. Also, I have a soft spot for 3d GBA games. IDK why but they are just really cool.
