What I love about Shinedown is their words, this group has made so many songs and every single one has a meaning behind every verse, and it is with that edgenuity and heart that Brent Smith and his crew touches so many people. This song (Like so many Shinedown songs before it) Speaks to me in volumes. This song reminds me how I felt a long time ago, before a huge life-altering event. Now, I'm a completely different person, and hearing songs like this reminds me why I needed a change, and that it's worth moving forward to put that even further behind me.
Thats what i love about Shinedown, the music speaks to so many different people for different reasons. Like for me it speaks about how my dad abused me......something my family doesn't even kno. People might call this just another edgy emo song but when digging deep into its meaning it IS actually a very relatable song. The stuff we go through both physically and mentally in real life are “Monstrous” and tough to deal with. Especially with what is happening with the world nowadays, this song like it’s monsters are “REAL”.😞
This song has So Much More Meaning for me as a Survivor of abuse at 4 years old and then rape at the age of 16....it hit me hard, but I'm Still Standing and I'm Still Going On With My Life and I'm Glad That My Favorite Band Shinedown and most of all Brent Smith wrote this song and it Lets Me Sing Out My Rage and Redemption!!! I Love This Song and Shinedown
Really love this song, the lyrics are so powerful. I'm fully aware of the lyrics being in the description but at first I thought he said " these monsters get high" that would've been really cool. Still really love the song, can't stop listening to it.
Stay clean. Just lost best friend and brother to “H” overdose. He was 68 and a long time heroin addict. Looks like he took himself out. I know how very very tired of being a life long heroin addict he was. Good luck. Keep needles out of your arm and change your playmates. Go to meetings. Good luck to you and live a good life.
My wife and I feel shinedown is easily top 3 best bands for us. We love not only the lyrics but the melodies and different sounds they are able to create and convey there message through.
I have been a fan since the beginning yet I have never had a song hit me on a deeply personal level, until now. Monsters are real and I just lost my version of it. Listening to the words of this song are gut wrenching to me right now, my emotions are still raw I guess. The very first lines of this song are so true, he fooled everyone. The world saw a Saint, I saw the Monster, and now he's gone. I am damn near ugly crying right now and yet I cannot stop replaying the song because it is amazing. Absolutely loving this song even though it hurts to hear it right now.

Mason Spino I don't know, I don't really hear that. Trying to determine if he says can or can't as the leading word to what I'm missing, as that would have an impact. Even though the lyrics they put in previous descriptions weren't always 100% accurate, it's still unfortunate they didn't include any on these new videos.
EchoTech257 That's actually what I had typed down during my first listen, but I really don't hear the C in cry on subsequent listens, and it's been many many listens lol).
This band is truely like a fine wine. Ive been a huge fan since the started and have never been disappointed. But this album, and more specifically this song, is their crowning achievement. I dont believe it can get any better. But, as they have done so many times in the past, i know they will prove me wrong. Keep up the amazing work Shinedown.
Are you in recovery? Or treatment/NA? I’m in all the above, and this song hit me right in the feels to the point it feels like this song is about treatment/recovery
Not true bub. Everybody recovers in their own way. I don’t program because of many reasons and still recovered anyway. But for some people, cultish as it may feel, AA is a simple connected program that will aide in their recovery. Even if you tried it and it ain’t for you don’t knock it for others.💯
I have to say that I have loved Shinedown's music since before I even knew who they were (it's been many, many years). Lately, I have just been obsessed with their music though. Shinedown; keep on Rockin guys! You are an AWESOME group!
All I can think about listening to this song is how amazing it'd be for them to make the official music video about people battling for their very lives with severe health problems like cancer, autoimmune diseases, etc. or people who's recovering, going through physical therapy from a major accident or even a victim of terrorism who's in rehabilitation because of it, etc. Fighting the good fight and trying to keep that perseverance they know they need regardless of how exhausted they are in order to even stand a chance to make through the finish line alive. Try listening to the song again but through the perspective of someone that comes to mind! 💌 Pretty powerful right there! ✌😇
It does!! I could definitely see a video showing at least 2-3+ REAL soldier's telling their stories (in part) with flashbacks of a defining moment (good or bad) in their past. Then their lives NOW and the road ahead of them that they finally, actually and truly GET the opportunity TO look forward to in their future. Maybe even their own personal defining moment when they found their own (unique) answer to the question "WHY did I sacrifice absolutely everything?" Since the stories would be real there'd be no problem putting the rest of the the pieces together. The main thing would just be picking 3 stories that fit together like puzzle pieces and that show uniquely different point's of view. Then collaborate them together. 😇 SOUNDS easy enough!.. 😆 though I'm probably wrong.. 😎 lol 😂

I Love This Song and Shinedown
it sounds like it could have been on Sound of Madness! This entire album is what i've needed
Nice pfp fren ||-//
You are the best singer ever and I love your songs especially Shinedown
Ok its official, Monsters is my favorite song on the album, beautiful guitar tone and great lyrics. Another huge hit i think!!! ❤️⚠️🎸
Really love this song, the lyrics are so powerful. I'm fully aware of the lyrics being in the description but at first I thought he said " these monsters get high" that would've been really cool. Still really love the song, can't stop listening to it.
This reminds me of the old Shindown. This song is awesome.
Enjoying this one very much! Many blessings to you, have a good day! 🤍
Chills on the first listen. Another bad ass track! ❤
Definitely
Chills ❤
BAD ASSERY IN ITS PUREST FORM🤘 these guys never disappoint!
I love this song- powerful!! 🤘It is therapy, crazy as that may sound.
This song is epic.
Sounds like this was lifted from Leave a Whisper...i love it Shinedown very good album overall! Just wish we could get more songs like this.
Love u Shinedown I'll be at ur concert soon, I can relate to all of your songs and it really really helps thanks
Best Shinedown song...ever!🤘
I have to say this is my absolute favorite song on this album! It really speaks to me.
I am in recovery and the monsters are my drugs. This song gets me focused on not using. Thank you
I absolutely love this song too!!!! Amazing job guys, omg. My repeat button will be broken..
Just listening to brilliance. No big...❤❤❤
Good for you, Shinedown. You got me hooked & I'm not even complaining.
Leave your weapon on the table, wrapped in burlap barely able. don't get angry, don't discourage, take a shot of liquid courage
Leave the light on, if you're able, 'cuz we both know you're unstable. Call the doctor say a prayer, choose a God you think is fair.
that's my favorite part :)
DarkFire Soul think is there
I have suffered neuropathy in my feet for 19 years and I've slept on the concrete now for 14 months being homeless and I'm here to tell you that my monsters are real but so is my god and father and he conquers them
I'm a desert storm veteran and this song hits home. The sad part no one believes or cares anymore.
I care sir.
i got your 6, brother!!!
my dad was almost drafted respect to u my fellow american
I care. Thank you for your service. ❤
THIS IS LOOKING LIKE ONE OF MY FAV SONGS FROM SHINEDOWN
"And they just laugh at how I feel" favorite line
I hate you
Delisa Mcguirk wtf why do u hate them?
@@ZomeH0RR0R - Because his demons are laughing at him.
?
Very relatable line as well. Relatable song as a whole but that line really hits me.
The monsters in our heads are more real than we would like to admit. Facing them is a daily challenge to be able to cope with the true fear we hide.
Good for you, you fooled everybody
Good for you, you fooled everyone
Good for you, now you're somebody
Good for you, you fooled everyone
Leave your weapon on the table
Wrapped in burlap, barely able
Don't get angry, don't discourage
Take a shot of liquid courage
'Cause my monsters are real, and they're trained how to kill
And there's no comin' back and they just laugh at how I feel
And these monsters can fly, and they'll never say die
And there's no goin' back, if I get trapped I'll never heal
Yeah, my monsters are real
Good for you, you hurt everybody
Good for you, you hurt everyone
Good for you, you love nobody
Good for you, you owe no one
Leave your weapon on the table
Wrapped in burlap, barely able
Call a doctor, say a prayer
Choose a god you think is fair
'Cause my monsters are real, and they're trained how to kill
And there's no comin' back and they just laugh at how I feel
And these monsters can fly, and they'll never say die
And there's no goin' back, if I get trapped I'll never heal
'Cause my monsters are real
Leave your weapon on the table
Wrapped in burlap, barely able
Don't get angry, don't discourage
Take a shot of liquid courage
Leave a light on if you're able
'Cause we both know you're unstable
Call a doctor, say a prayer
Choose a god you think is fair
'Cause my monsters are real, and they're trained how to kill
And there's no comin' back and they just laugh at how I feel
And these monsters can fly, and they'll never say die
And there's no goin' back, if I get trapped I'll never heal
Yeah, my monsters are real

xKillerClownx Thank you dude!
xKillerClownx I think it's "and these monsters can fight" in the chorus.
I hear 'fight' or 'fly'
This band is truely like a fine wine. Ive been a huge fan since the started and have never been disappointed. But this album, and more specifically this song, is their crowning achievement. I dont believe it can get any better. But, as they have done so many times in the past, i know they will prove me wrong. Keep up the amazing work Shinedown.
Are you in recovery? Or treatment/NA?
I’m in all the above, and this song hit me right in the feels to the point it feels like this song is about treatment/recovery
NA and AA are a cult.... Get out while you can. You're not powerless.
Not true bub. Everybody recovers in their own way. I don’t program because of many reasons and still recovered anyway. But for some people, cultish as it may feel, AA is a simple connected program that will aide in their recovery. Even if you tried it and it ain’t for you don’t knock it for others.💯
I have been a Shinedown fan since Us and Them. They just keep getting better. They get the struggles we all face that is why I love their music.
My monsters are real. They were my parents. Silence leads to sickness. Speaking out leads to healing.
Truth my friend...talk about your monsters and problems NEVER GIVE UP... SILENCE IS A DEADLY SOUND
My mom loooooooooooooooves shinedown and this song
02:43 Goosebumps!! 🎸 🎶 🎼
I love the video. Wish this song was out when I served in the Marines. 98 to 2002.
THIS is Shinedown!! More song like this one please! Don't go to pop music!
Leandro Valenzuela other than get up they have made pretty much 0 pop songs
Leandro Valenzuela its really not, its called “alternative rock” for a reason
Someone has a problem listening to uplifting tracks. Its an easy mistake, but pop music sucks with guitars in it
Black soul
Plese no why did you even say that
I have to say that I have loved Shinedown's music since before I even knew who they were (it's been many, many years). Lately, I have just been obsessed with their music though. Shinedown; keep on Rockin guys! You are an AWESOME group!
I figured out that this band & their music are gifts from GOD. Music that heals your heart & mind.God loves his children.🙂✌️
I can't help myself and I hope I'm not the only one but this sounds like something from first LP which is AWESOME!
went to the Attention attention world tour in Toronto... I was blown and I think I love these people more than ever now
"Are you afraid of the monsters?"
"No, the monsters are afraid of me"--The Doctor
This saved my life. FUCKING THANXX SHINEDOWN!
The whole album should've sounded like this!
Also has a good theme that could resonate with the Military veteran community too
😎 lol 😂
