avatar: the last airbender did elemental reactions before genshin lol
PGR has elements, and they sort of work percentage-wise, but otherwise it's pretty much just a trait of their powers (most likely missing something)
mt. firmament was locked because lore-wise, we needed a wayfinder (changli), even if you have changli, lore-wise you're alone or go with yangyang/chixia
comparing the amount of text of wuwa, take a look in pgr which is basically a visual novel with combat lol
audio bugs do happen in en which i noticed, jp doesn't have this issue which i find funny
the reason why in 1.1 the same thing got said around 3 times, is to essentially reconfirm jinhsi's aspirations, plus some people legitly don't get what's happening until the 3rd time where rover summarizes what's going to happen
music, yeah it does need work, many want vanguard to participate again, some music is supposed to be ambient music, although according to marcomeatball, it did get better in 1.1 and has hope for the music.
some bugs are funny, best I can say is, this is Kuro's first UE4 or any UE game, much more difficult to use then with PGR (unity)
story wise, i think they're just going the long-game, having to dump terms and worldbuilding, character interactions, etc etc, probably some foreshadowing
development was an issue cause, at least speculated that they were forced to release it early due to the license about to get expired, and new games being released, so a later release would mean less people interested (from what I heard)

While I agree with you that there’s bugs in those boss fight especially Mourning Aix the buggiest boss in the game. The one you show are not bug and it seems like you have some confusion in the combat mechanic especially the parry system.
5:00: you dodged too late in this one so this is not bug. I can clearly se the projectiles hit you before the dodge animation even appeared
The parry mechanic in this game is a little more realistic here. To parry, you can’t just attack the enemy when the two circle aligns with each other. You have to make sure your attack hit box physically collide with the enemies attack when the two circle align.
For example, in 5:13 the 360 scythe swing hit box clearly came into contact with Merphis atk hitbox.
5:19 this is not bug either, you parry too late, the atk hit box already touched you the moment you hit Merphis. On top of that, the parry window had already ended when landed the attack on merphis
As for why sometime you manage parry but still takes damage. It’s because of imperfect parry, similar to Sekiro where you may still takes damage despite blocking the enemy. It’s not a bug it’s a feature that already existed in PGR where you take reduced damage if you parry imperfectly.
This one 5:27 in particular, Verina intro attack has a slight delay, her attack only starts when her legs come into contact with the ground. Therefore, Merphis attack hit box managed to hit Verina’s hit box by the time your atk hitbox hit Merphis. If you switched 1-2 frames earlier, when the inner circle was just about to align with the outer circle it would be perfect parry.
I recommend you watch Rexlent Merphis boss guide if you can.

I think you misunderstood what I meant by "bugs". The projectiles hitting me is fair at 5:00, but why does the game trigger the dodge noise so I feel cheated instead? It's a bit muted due to me lowering the overall volume of the video to leave room for my voice, but it's there. As for the atk hitbox, the boss is literally a full player height above me. I don't really think that should parry, but if that's how it's coded, it is what it is. As for 5:19, I can agree that it's a bit late for what it should be, but I have also parried him with that late timing before, so it's a mixed bag. Finally as for 5:27, you are correct in saying that Verina has a slight delay. However, in my experience, Verina's parry with intro doesn't generally stun Mephis unless the timing is correct with the window. You can try it yourself, the imperfect parrying will reduce vibration strength more than the intro skill would alone and give you the parry noise indicator, but not stun the boss (at least in my experience). The fact that the boss was stunned after the fact should mean that I actually hit the window properly. Unless wuwa's code has multiple stages of imperfect parrying, I would chalk this up to some weird client-server desync or lack of parry s. There are creators like wallensteins ch who have also experienced this bug on different bosses, this is a known issue. I didn't mention this in the video either, but the parry circles aren't the best indicator of when to parry, I have seen my characters parry when the circles are completely gone and when the circles just start to appear. I think they might be affected by the time slow down mechanic, which is another reason why I dislike it being in the game. I should have been more clear about what I thought were bugs vs aren't, so thanks for putting a comment down about it!

    • @HH-kr4fv
      @HH-kr4fv 28 днів тому

@@TarZBlammo about the dodge, it is probably due to the system received the signal from both you getting hit and you pressing dodge at the exact same time.
The Scythe swing hit box can reach above Rover head.
Lastly, yeah the vibration bar not reduced when parry is a thing. From my experience, this often happen with Aoe attack like Jiyan or Changli’s true sight.
As for Verina, I think her intro attack/ heavy attack has the longest delay in the game cause I often successfully parry when I press the atk noticeably earlier to prevent the vibration bar not reduce problem. Moreover, the attack Merphis used in the Verina footage is the hardest move to parry. I have died many time trying to parry that move with Hover intro but still fail. I recommend dodge that move instead of parry. It possible to parry that but quite risky.

As a longtime genshin player who now passionately hates hoyo's PR, management, dev / feedback response team ( still love the music, arts and design teams though ), I agree with your critiques of WuWa.
I have been playing WuWa more than genshin since its release, I can't even go back and not dread about the exploration and unskippable dialogues in the daily chores and exploration of genshin, which makes me love wuwa, but it is true that wuwa has to polish a lot of things, which I'm positive will happen as they get better revenue.
A little bummed out because I was expecting good music too but it has not happened yet. I remember having reinstalled genshin 5 times in the first year of its release but not being able to even finish Mondstadt, but Ayaka's theme and Raiden's release music got me to finally start and stay. I have yet to find music like that in WuWa.
But given how they've been acknowledging and addressing all of the feedbacks, it gives me hope, unlike in genshin where features we had asked for years were first seen in HSR and some are still not there yet ( apart from some which got implemented because of WuWa's release ).
At the end of the day, I love both games and just want both of them to get better, to give us the best time of our lives while playing them.
    Good video man, peace.

The awaited WuWa review from Tarz!
Great review, I also relate to the frustration with Genshin's endgame combat experience (though not just from a difficulty standpoint, in my case). Below is some timestamps with my personal perspectives on some of what Tarz mentioned, for those interested.
06:22 imo the fact that there is such a wide range of roll values for substats in WuWa makes the experience of farming for specific stats in WuWa just as bad, if not worse, than Genshin in some ways. Geting 5 pieces with low crit rate rolls in WuWa is the same thing as an artifacts in Genshin not upgrading much into Crit as you level it. The end result is rng values on your stats, but you experience it differently.
Evaluating the entire farming experience in WuWa is a whole mess in general, though, and I don't want to get into it here. I do want to say that I personally never felt much enjoyment in optmizing and farming equipment in WuWa, whereas I have enjoyed it in Genshin (not always, it certainly has issues lol). In Genshin they managed to balance it in a way that successfully motivated me to grind more and improve my builds. It successfully serves as a motivator for me in Genshin, whereas it actively demotivated me to login daily in WuWa. Likely at least in part due to the issue Tarz mentioned with set bonuses being fairly one-note, but also due to other factors as well, so its kinda complicated to compare the two. I think the idea of the echo system making it so you can have different skills on your characters is very cool, but the end result was fairly boring after initial positive impressions (desirability of set bonuses makes for most units being pushed towards only one echo skill in particular, imo the game really couldve used an off piece slot like Genshin), which is unfortunate, since it does seem the devs spent a lot of effort on the system as Tarz mentioned. I will at least give them credit for being able to manually farm the main stats for your equipment in WuWa, I overall liked that aspect at least.
11:07 Personally, I still maintain a perspective that we shouldn't be calling any gacha "generous" even when constrained to a specific comparison against another gacha game. There are too many factors involved within an entire game's resource economy that factor into the general experience to make direct comparison of rates make sense. The simple example of illustrating how a more "generous" rate of acquisition wouldn't actually matter is if a game is designed to give you more 5 stars but then they give you less overall wishes for free to acquire said 5 stars, or that they balance the game and characters kits to add additional incentivization to pull for additional things (such as weapons/extra copies of chars) that functionally makes most players end cost to get the things they want be higher than another game, potentially. Yes, this can vary based on individual player preferences too--higher skill players will feel less pressure to wish more to strengthen characters (also I'm not saying WuWa is exactly like the example I gave, but I definitely felt the effect of some of the factors I mentioned).
My point with this is that properly evaluating the experience of a acquiring things in a gacha game requires looking at the whole picture, not just their advertised rates of five stars. Its not as simple as "you get more five stars this one is better than that one." Unless your entire experience of playing gachas comes down to how often you see gold, aka you literally just play for the gambling and nothing else, that is. I tolerate gacha as a monetization system to justify development cost of a game IF it is a good enough game to justify a predatory monetization system. But I play games to play the game, not as a gambling experience on my phone, so from my point of view if we are calling any gacha game "generous," then Im gonna have to started using "generous" in every other sentence to describe live service games that aren't gachas. They let me play the games content without gambling at all! That's like a 100% rate for 5 stars vs WuWa's "generous" 0.8%! At this point, the term "generous" in regards to gacha games is a pet peeve of mine because its emblematic of what I see as a larger issue in the games industry for how companies monetize games, and how we as consumers reward them for deciding to monetize things in different ways based on how we talk and spend money. I dont necessarily agree with it being "f2p friendly" because I think that depends on what kind of player you are. I could honestly go on, but I think this enough of a wall of text already.
12:49 Regarding story in general. I think it was garbage. I tried to give it a chance, but it was just... very bad imo. After the 1.1 update I gave the game an hour before I started using the skip button again. And it was still bad. The only thing it has going for it is some occasionally cool looking cinematics. Which ties into the generally good animation in the game Tarz mentions. (though I do think its fairly bland as far as 3d anime game animation goes. I prefer more stylized animation styles.) I've become much more critical of Genshin story as of late, as well, mostly since in the last year I've started doing a weekly book club with my friends, wherein we are reading mostly fantasy stories, and I think this has skewed my standards of expectation for writing in a fantasy setting. I think Genshin's story is not great, but it at least has memorable moments and manages to engage me throughout. WuWa completely flops at even making me want to care about the story. And not in a so bad its good kind of way. I wish I could be more specific than that, but my brain has successful deleted most of the story experience at this point, so I have no more to say.
15:00 Agree on music being lackluster. Considering the audio theming gimmick for the names for things in the game, I think its particularly disappointed how boring the music is. If you are gonna make audio a lore thing in your fantasy world, your game should have more memorable music than this. I've gotten goosebumps listening to video game music years after first hearing it due to the feelings it can immediately conjure (outer wilds music does this to me constantly), and WuWas music is a far cry away from doing that.
16:35 Agreed on the general state of WuWa's bugs/stability. I feel its a significant factor to my general experience playing WuWa being one that was... low quality, to say the least. On that note I also feel that WuWa its terribly optimized performance wise. I never had significant performance issues because I have a very good PC (worse than Tarz new one tho), but for what the game looks like (it doesnt look bad but like its nowhere Cyberpunk lets be real) it ran like ass, which I could tell by how hard my PC ran. Particularly compared to Genshin, which is incredibly well optimized, this is a problem. They obviously rushed the release of this game to make sure it released before ZZZ, imo. And I experienced far fewer obvious issues than Tarz did (except for vram memory leaks causing my entire PC to crash if I didnt keep a good enough eye on it while playing, which at least got fixed a week or two after release). As Tarz mentioned, at least they are trying to improve things.
Final note, for what its worth, I dropped the game after 2 months, whereas Tarz informed me in DMs he still is enjoying WuWa at this time. The more I played WuWa the more I started to dislike many aspects of the experience, even parts I initially really enjoyed (like the combat, which I grew to dislike for various reasons, many of which Tarz mentioned in this video, but some personal like the fact that Ive never been very good at picking up combo focused games). It did not reach the bar I have for being a good enough game to justify gacha as a monetization system for it. I overall was left with a feeling of WuWa being a game that would have been so much better in so many ways if it just were not a gacha. But, alas, it is. I hope they at least succeed enough to put pressure on Hoyo to make them improve Genshin, though, because competition is good. We the consumers benefit from two games competing by both companies trying to make their games better, and WuWa is the closest competitor Genshin has ever had. I prefer Genshin for many reasons, but if you prefer WuWa, keep in mind that the best situation for a player of either game is for them both to be successful. Hating on one of the games or its players is really stupid. I am very critical of WuWa and gachas in general, but I do not hate them, or the people playing. I mention this only because the general discourse I've seen between Genshin and WuWa is incredibly childish, to say the least, which is silly when we are the ones that benefit from both existing.

Oh god, the difference in pulling economy in different gacha games is something that too many people don't understand. The amount of people I see praising HSR for being "generous" compared to Genshin is insane, even though the premise is different and for the most part HSR expects you to have more 5* characters in general. Not to mention the lack of currency available from exploration in HSR, though that's a relatively minor thing

Imagine the life of a mobile player (it's me, I'm the mobile player). Simply put, I don't engage in the more challenging parts of the game. I did the bare minimum Heron holograms that the guidebook told me to do, but beyond that I just don't bother. I mostly just play the game casually, run around overworld randomly, farm random stuff and hope I'll eventually get somewhere. I'm one of those people that uses Zhongli everywhere in Genshin because I tend to like a more casual gameplay experience, so part of me kind of hopes they add at least 1 character like that in WuWa, but I also recognize that the game aims to reward skill-based gameplay more, so maybe it's better if they don't.
For most of the points mentioned in the video I can agree. I've definitely had my fair share of bugs, though I chalked most of that up to my device being what it is (though I do recognize some of the bugs you mentioned, such as dodging nothing or being hit mid-dodge).
Story has been somewhat lackluster for me, but tbh I haven't really played story much to begin with, so the initial info-dump makes up more than half my experience with the game.
Music is the same way. I don't think the music is bad, but it feels rather lackluster for a game so focused on "sound" as a main theme.
Visually, the animations are great, though I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of it as a result of my device being what it is. The colors can take a bit of getting used to though, especially on a smaller screen. A lot of the game is gray, so it can be a little hard to distinguish things at times. The amount of times I've been in combat in overworld and just failed to notice that one enemy off to the side is more than I care to admit (Fusion Warriors especially are just standing still most of the time and then suddenly BAM! Luckily they're not very strong)

Personally. I like the system they currently have more than anything they could've put in. It's more dependent on each character, rather than the character's inherent characteristics. Because of the outro-intro skill, characters are defined by more with unique capabilities than their elements.
So in a way, I share the same sentiment. They should've labeled them with something else rather than elements. Elements are so overused, I couldn't be more bothered. Why fire, ice, lighting etc? It doesn't make sense. They could've been more creative especially when the world revolves around sounds. Ughhh I'm itching so bad just thinking about what they could've named these "elements".

iirc they did have elemental reactions but it wasnt something that can be spammed since applying the elemental was more or less the same as intro and outro switching and many of the reactions were forms of buffs to the on field character too rather then a unique atk or dmg multiplier

Am I playing these games wrong? Because I feel like I have an easier time fighting in WuWa than I do in Genshin…. And that’s not even a 💩 shit WuWa btw. I like WuWa better. I also only started playing Genshin 2-3 months before WuWa came out.

Same thing for me. Mostly because my Genshin characters are underbuilt and because of how inconsistent dodging is

@@TreetheSmelt I was just thinking to myself yesterday while playing Genshin that the game is less responsive. I'm clicking buttons, but nothing is !@#$ing happening! 😡
yeah, I'm doing the thing everyone recommends against. Spreading my resources too thin and building to many characters at once. As I get new characters though I find that I like some better than others. So I start building them instead. i have also found it's so much easier to build characters in Wuwa too. Domains aren't timegated. I don't have to wait until Tuesday to get my character materials. World Bosses are also a lot easier and guaranteed to drop character materials unlike Genshin. Echoes are also easier to get and build.

Stopped playing the game because after 1.1 update it stopped seeing my controller. And no, nothing was installed or changed on my pc except that 1.1 update. My controller still works just fine for other games but not for this one. So i deleted the game until better times or if i buy better device overall, because all that lagging really annoyed me. So maybe a few years later i'll return to this game, who knows... Overall i liked the game when i played for a few weeks, though, the combat was fun and i liked some characters. Exploration was amazing for the first 15 minutes and then my game would start lagging af, so i usually played it like 15-30 min a day. I wish they had better optimization, not all people are rich and can afford amazing pcs, eh~
