The Jazz Gold Coast All-Star Big Band concept started in 2019 by calling for school based musicians from all Gold Coast high schools in order to create an all-star band with the intention of performing at HOTA for International Jazz Day. COVID eventually prevented this from occurring on 2020 so it was decided that the same group should have the possibility to perform instead in 2021. Not all the original musicians were available so the holes were filled with available adult musicians.
