It was written about it last year, but this way of internet connection is rare, so only experts were alerted. More important is the fact that it did damage the hardware! You should have emphasized this better. Everybody knows hacking, but damaged hardware is a different level of threat.
Do you have any details on what hardware was damaged and by what means?
@@squarewheel9113 I think she mentioned that. The hackers rewrote garbage code in the firmware (BIOS equivalent) of the modems, making it so it couldn't start up properly or do anything really. The only way for these equipment to work again would be by removing and replacing the chip containing the firmware, a task incredibly hard to do at scale.
Russians once hacked a lot of my city's most predominant ADSL modems. They made it so that every web page in each browser was contained in frames that had some nasty adware. It took a while to realize the problem was not that the computer had been infected, but it was actually code inside the modem. The most important thing that made this all possible for the russians? DEFAULT FACTORY PASSWORDS. 🤷♀
The hardware wasn’t damaged my friend.
So this is actually the real Modern Warfare
The 90s video game aesthetic is refreshing. Beautiful way to present..
Called out the only one who has a working solution as erratic? He seems to have the cheaper, more accessible, more secure and proven technology and he’s put his money where his mouth is through donations.
That was the whole point of this video.
Do Bloomberg ask how SpaceX handles attack instead of questioning their ceo
The moment the word Russia came out of her mouth, I rushed to the comments.
The attack wasn’t repeatable and had almost nothing to do with satellites.
Great visuals
Yes indeed, very nice
This is great. Well done Bloomberg team
Just getting to Bloomberg calling Elon Musk an "erratic billionaire" made watching this video worth it
If you are reading this comment it's already to late, your wetware has been hacked and you can't stop thinking about Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. And there comes the singing...
I have an issue trusting news
You know. The specially formulated stories to get people to have a widespread common interest in the same thing
Like voting for reforms and bills, supporting certain leaders... Oh and waging war like they did in iraq. Or was that iran
Rest assured that China is paying close attention. They already know the West's dependence on satellite assets...
awesome 😔
is this just a giant Starlink Plug?
No. They just said that starlink is owned by an erratic billionaire . So a lot of countries don’t trust Elon musk
Love this art
the music @ the end is super, super, irrelevant!
Thanks "erratic billionaire" ???
Wonder if the people in the story will switch to starlink... SpaceXs satellites and internet service is notoriously robust against jamming
But the Russians know the Starlink uplink frequencies. Elon himself has warned Ukranian users to not stay in one place too long or the Russians will locate and attack the source...
Just like the video says, everyone would have to rely on an erratic billionaire whos gone off the deep end as of late. It would be better if there were more competitors against starlink
USA does that all the time. Lol
The world (except for Russia) has got soft, vulnerable and dependent . . . It's mind-blowing that we've been in a coma for decades and it took the Ukraine conflict to start the slow return to consciousness.
I guess I haven't heard the latest news. Americans found chemical weapons in Iran? No, it’s just scary to say something about others, but you were officially allowed to talk about Russia. There is also Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yugoslavia, Yemen, Cameroon. You just now ordered to bite, that's all.
Lol to think Russia is some great powerful cyber jamming force is a joke at best this is laughable...........
Erratic is a bit harsh considering Elon makes engineering and business decisions after deep thought and feasibility study. Too harsh to use the term erratic.
Russia will cause pain and death at all cost
D
Erratic billionaire, like Bloomberg?
Or
you're just mad that you have to pay for a check 😂
🤡
Musk cut off, or at least threatened to cut off, Ukraine's starlink access because Ukrainian officials offended him on twitter. I'd say erratic billionaire is a fair comment.
You cant deny that Musk is an erratic and is a billionaire.
@@mapetlv I can deny the Erratic, not the billionaire... I am not sure there is a sample set of people in his bracket that are open with their activities to compare...
@@JackTheMacaw we can compare how others billionaires run their companies :D im pretty sure even elon musk will agree with the fact that he is erractic time to time.
I don't believe one word she's reading. Because I know about predictive programming.
🤡
@@SpacedAug I've seen many like you comment with emojis. I'm starting to think the CIA is hiring a lot of ppl on the spectrum. LOL.
Who
More NATO US propaganda, 😂, hackers exist only in NK & RU 😅
🤡🤡🤡
Go away tankie
Define "propaganda".
@@RM-el3gw so like USA and EU are all saints. And don’t do dirty stuffs. Lol 😂
