- Starring Pierce Brosnan as Phileas Fogg and featuring Eric Idle, Peter Ustinov, Christopher Lee and many more... Based on Jules Verne's classic about 19th century aristocrat Phileas Fogg's bet that he can circumnavigate the earth in a mere 80 days - and vows to leave that very night, taking only some necessary cash in a carpet bag and his newly-hired manservant, Jean Passepartout. Can it be mere coincidence that 55,000 English pounds is missing from the Bank of England? The Bank's directors don't think so, and have private detective Mr. Fix to bring in the most likely suspect: a man leaving the country with an unusually large quantity of money.

This is the best version in every way and the fact that it is the most common on You tube, translated into so many languages, proves it once again. Unlike the insensitive film with Niven, the miniseries has depth in the character of the characters, warm relationships, and most of all - love. Pierce Brosnan is the best Phileas Fogg, and his hidden, pure love for Aouda is uniquely presented! I will never get tired of watching this miniseries over and over again.
@@riley-arr-g This version with Brosnan is better in every way.
@@evelinagotchkova7548 I respectfully disagree. I prefer Cantinflas to Idle for Passepartout. in the 1956 version, but that's just me.
The one with David Niven was a product of its time. The two can't be fairly compared with our modern sensibilities.
I first watched the miniseries 35 years ago, I loved Pierce Brosnan's Phileas Fogg, and now, I love this character even more than then, because here Fogg showed feelings, unlike the book and the first emotionless version. All the actors are great and the chemistry between Pierce Brosnan and Julia Nickson is unique! I think it is in this role that Brosnan plays most naturally.
A Charming Second Or Third Place To Michael Todd's 1950s Masterpiece. A fine cast, and who can ever question the iconic brilliance of Jules Verne? Many thanks for posting this TV version with it s splendid on location production. What a gem!
The BEST VERSION - and so fun to have all the CAMEO appearances!! Thank you.
❤❤❤
A wonderful, 'old school movie ; good acting, stunning locations and special effects, ( no computer generated stuff ), great costumes & background scenery. A great 4.5 hours of film.🌞😃🇿🇦⚓
This is the VERY BEST!! version of this movie!! The cast is of the very best actors and actresses!! Eric Idle made me laugh sooooo many times during the movie!! ❤❤❤😂😂
I Love this story and the length. Thanks so much for tying all of the episodes together.
En français
Thank you ever so much - this was the most amazing Around the world in 80 days that i have seen
One of my favorite movies! I remember watching it on TV when it was new...they had it in 2 or 3 parts so you had to make sure you were home in time to watch it!
same with me .
Because it was a series, not a four and a half hour long film
Julia Nickson portrayed Princess Aouda to the perfection!
Absolutely spectacular 🎉. Such an accurate depiction of the book
Pierce Brosnan was the most perfect Phileas Fogg ❤
Thank you for posting this was very good.
I’m enjoying this film so far ! Everyone out there 😊
Marvellous production, thank you for uploading Arielle 🕊
What a wonderful movie, I really enjoyed it better this time than I did 40 years ago ♥
The movie is absolutely lovely..
And I'm so envious of the man's clothes, here in the future we have nothing that nice..
extraordinary cast! well done
Oh that was sooo gooood!!! Bravo!
great movie and it only took me three days to watch it!
LOL😂 nothing like the shorter Niven version lol
Nice one mate 😁
Been waiting to watch this movie for time now.
💪🏻👍🏻❤️
ah, 1989, ...I miss you so much.
The cast is spectacular - literally of the best in the world in a single entertaining film.
It's a four and a half hour long series.
Truly an engaging and fun movie. Will watch again.
Enjoyed the movie. Thanks.
I truly enjoyed this movie very much! I love Pierce Brosnan! ❤
Thank you for uploading this unique version. Superb cast of actors in one film. Very entertaining for a rainy weekend in. That said...Are the intermittent sound breaks happening to others? Thats not so much fun...Still appreciated
So Beautiful, thank you very much!!!
Although a few sound glitches still enjoyed movie. 007 always gets the girl❤
This movie is absolutely excellent! And young Pierce Brosnan is so handsome in it!
Fascinating movie with Pierce Brosnan. I thoroughly enjoyed his television program Remington Steel. I always enjoy the time period of Victorian England. I have also read the stories of Horatio Hornblower from a book from 1945. I have never seen this version of the book by Jules Verne's book. It was a great read along with his other books and movie's that were based on his books. Unlike a number of movies that is on UA-cam so far at this point I can here the movie. This is definitely the best movie version of Around the World in 80 Days.
Hopefully Phileas Fogg marries the beautiful princess.
She reminds me of my dearest Rosita who I lost during COVID 4 years ago.
Brosnan is an gentleman more than 007.
Yep! A good one indeed!
Thank you for sharing this gem of a cinematography! New subscriber.
Thank t so much, Arielle Dombasle! 🎉
I agree. Best version ever.
Peter Ustinov!! What a gem!
All the actors are great. Especially Pierce Brosnan, this is his best role.
World CLASSIC FANTASTIC MOVIE ...🤓✌️🏆🏆🏆
an excellent non-disney movie tbr.
Pasteur 😂 a good character
Great cast. Lavish production values. The pacing is deadly.
15:36 im sure hes trying not to laugh delivering that line 😂 "or god knows what"
Thank you very much!
Handsome man brilliant movie
Splendid ! Merci Arielle ! it's even better than the jackie chan / cécile de france version in the 2000s (who is also quiet fun). Pierce is the best bond, even if i'm now loving better sean connery as bond, as i grow older
great cast.
I enjoyed that :)
thank you
Wonderful movie
I like both versions, each having their good points and very interesting presentations. I remember Passportu was more entertaining in the Niven version because his performance is what I remember the most. 😊
Cantinflas was amazing in it. I agree.
@@les4767Absolutely love Cantinflas. As a Peruvian, he was very much loved all over Latin America. Very talented and funny.
The version with Cantiflas is very good to.
The music is overpowering!
I prefer the earlier version. I love the story and regret not having read the book to date. It's an epic more than an adventure.
She was, and is, very beautiful.
Brosnan's side face bears a striking resemblance to Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott from The Young and the Restless) at 09:03
Arielle Dombasle I Worshiped her performance in Miami Vice, a real Goddess!
The background music is loud I can't hear the dialog.
I use headphones, no problems here.
Nothing much changed in Paris since then......
I enjoyed the PBS series too
Enjoyed how much did it take to make that presentation? Amount of people and work... A lot of jobs provided...
Well done
Bob Morley and John Mills are the the only survivors in this one from the 1956 version.
They are all great, but Peter Ustinov steals every scene, is not for nothing that he got two oscars for supporting roles. He knows how to shine in small gestures
Peter Ustinov was a beautiful man. Such an interesting and intelligent mind, unfortunately most people only know him as a bit of a clown, but he was very sensitive and wise.
In any circumstances, the shirt must be immaculately clean.
This will be a Spot the Stars fest
12:44 - James Bond reuniting with Francisco Scaramanga
Que hermosa peli😅
I'm still looking for the one with Jacky chan
Watching it right now on a channel called “Reality” Jackie Chan & Steve Coogan 👍
James Bond in Around the World in 80 Days.
Sam Niell would have been great in this too but Brisbane knocks this out of the park !
NO STUPID WOKE HOLLYWOOD and NO STUPID HOLLYWOOD MESSAGE and NO CRAPPY MARVEL and NO UNREALISTIC OVERUSED CG and it's FREEEEEE. I am 55 years old and for some strange reason have never seen this before.....ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
Do you always feel the need to over dramatize, editorize and ramble in rants? All you had to say is that you enjoyed the film and appreciated the filming style of the late 1980's. Instead all of us are burdened with some of your political and social views.
Génial
Harikulade ve unutulmaz...
Continuity problem: They leave London at around 9 p.m. in the evening but don't arrive in Dover until the next morning? That's ridiculous!!!
It’s 4 hours. I need to order Starbucks Caramelo Frappuccino Tall.
Could you upload "John Silver Return to Treasure Island"?
Fun
55,000 pounds = 70,435 US dollars
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
why liverpool not london?
I adore Jackie Chans hilarious version best!
The Jackie Chan movie is not by the book. This is an action fiction copied from the version with Brosnan - the director himself admitted it.
A stinker!
Couldn't take my eyes off it. Like a car crash.
007
4 hour plus
A bit too long, therefore getting boring on speed, and the tone outs a really annoying . But anyway thanks for the upload
Try watching it on e instead of speed :)
Can you all imagine, woman had to be burned also cuz husband died?
Vehora maybe because we keep drilling up oul and stuff from ground and dont do anything but, take causing it
3:43:00
PB cheats on his wf
And you know this because.....?
I guess the producer wanted a "musical masterpiece," and her method was used music to simply drown-out dialogue. Totally brilliant, but I can't watch idiotic movies like this.
Can tell it’s a fantasy movie from the opening titles, with a map of England that for some reason includes Wales 🏴 😡
❤❤❤❤❤
Now , i was looking for mario moreno and it seems he not her ! What the hell is going on ! I was told he was in this movie !
Thank you ever so much - this was the most amazing Around the world in 80 days that i have seen
Try the unsurpassable original with David Niven .
@@alexandradane3672 There was nothing impressive about the 1956 film except for the beautiful scenery. In my opinion, Brosnan was better suited to the role of the chaste Fogg than Niven, and Pierce Brosnan plays much more naturally. This 1989 version is many times better than the first one.
