The same applies with Yamaha Motif XF series. They were released some 13 years back but still they lead in the game even now. I had Roland Juno DS but i sold it and got a KORG M50(61). Wowww the sounds are just damn good and out of this world. Am loving it.
I never was fully aware of the M50 and it's capabilities, but it's really a fantastic synthesizer, Wonderful! that It's holding it's price very well too, so a good investment.
Korg is king when it comes to out of this world pads - always slept on anything after the Triton as I assumed they lost their mojo, but now seeing that was a big mistake. The M3 / M50 seems just as good as the old Korg workstations of the 90s. M50 is a great bargain right now, going to pick one up soon. Great video!
Yes the m3 and 50 is crazy good. I have m50 and my partner has a krome and we all was kinda tripping that asides the pianos, which are runner up with krome, the other sounds are surprisingly better. Even tho krome has Triton layout too, m50 sounds more closer too it with that phatness and warmth. Krome synths sound pretty thin. M50 can score a whole movie right out of the box.
One of the best M50 reviews around!!! And there's much more, like the sequencer, the synthesis functions, and the amazing pattern sequences per key thing. M50 is really powerful, but there's not much stuff on the internet to teach everything.
I have a Korg M3 88 and honestly it still competes with with some newer boards or even surpasses them. The expanded version coupled with the radius is a game changer.
I just purchased a Nautilis earlier this year, but I am definitely holding onto my M 50 as well. I have the same version as shown here and even with the Nautilis, yes, it is quite a bit more, I still can’t bring myself to part ways with my M 50.😊
Wanted one, but so far it still eludes me. Have Korg Micro X and X50 which I still love. Not sure from listening to it where it fits in.......beautiful pianos, pads and arps but hmmmm something strange about it No doubt if I ever see one going cheap I may still investigate. Great clear video as ever. Oh yeah.......Seasons' Greetings 🎄😀
A great sounding synth , I used to own one .The only problem was its built quality , the buttons are weak and clicking , and mine just pushed through and broke , and I wasn't heavy handed with it . Fortunately I took it for repair and it wasn't expensive .
I remember playing one of these in a Guitar Center or something and feeling the same way.... Then I saw Ikey Owens of The Mars Volta play one and he was playing so hard you could see the entire chassis physically bend and flex lol.... I wanna say he probably had it repaired a few times
The M50 is in my rig as well as Roland ,Yamaha, Hammond,Alesis, HD6 Fusion 61 key version and my QS7.1. Korg N1 NS5R N5 and X3r,EMU B3 module Hammond X5 XK-1 2 and 3 XM1 module with Xmc2 drawbar controller even Casio WK7500 ,WK1680, XWP1
I've got the 61 key version. I would love for the keybed to be better, so I got myself the extreme 88. But still, there are a couple of aspects that I really appreciate on the M50: the knobs offer more control, the pitch joystick is better, it feels a lot more synthy; the extreme is wonderful, but for some reason, it feels kind of an advanced rompler at times. And, some ROM samples in the M50 are better, especially electric pianos. Not to 'dis' the Extreme, Triton Extreme is a premium flagship synth, the culmination of an era; now the M50 is the little brother of the next generation M3 which just has a better engine and specs all around. Both are amazing. I'm never gonna sell either.
I'm curious to know how well the quality of the keybed is? Full hammer action keys, correct? I have my eye on an M50 88 locally and am really intersted in it. Awesome video, really looks like a fantastic synth! Thanks!
First of all thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video so much :) And yes it’s got a decent hammer-action keybed which is acceptable to most piano players. But the sounds - wow! So much life and energy!
Great reviewing as alway Glynne 👍How do you compare this to the Krome ex you reviewed too. Which would you choose? Looks like you had more fun with this 😀
I did indeed! The M50 has the fun factor advantage for sure. And even though the Krome is so much newer the M-50 just seemed to say all the right things, musically speaking :)
@donluca3984, yes you can load PCG files via the memory card slot. Korg released the Pro Vintage Keys Collection for M50 users in PCG format and there are some user-developed PCG files floating around on the Korg Forum and other websites.

I had the Roland Juno G, it was a real cut above the others in that series.

Yep. If I wasn't such a transient music person I'd have kept it forever.

Glad you liked the video! I feel that Korg might have under-promoted it. It's really expressive :)
I have this exact one and in my opinion it's the best value workstation ever created.
Yep I'm inclined to agree :)

It’s a really good synth with a quality piano sound along to go with
Thank you very much For Your Video! Wonderful! Stefan From Berlin

Good choice!
This keyboard is nice on its sustains korg has always stayed on top of the pad game i always enjoy their creativity
Я люблю KORG! Достойный аппарат!🤓👍🇷🇺
I have one of these and it really does blow me away!
Yep I miss it.
I agree with your opinion on the guitar sounds top notch
Unusually natural, yep
I agree on the last patch being one of the finest synth tones ever nice punch to a easy and interesting sustain
It was difficult to sell this one :(
Wanted one, but so far it still eludes me.

Cheers for that. I loved reviewing this one :)

I agree, that's concern with this unit.

A few familiar faces there :)
I agree sir💋💋

Right on :)
61 keybed is horrible, this was the only reason I parted with it.
I'm curious to know how well the quality of the keybed is? Full hammer action keys, correct? I have my eye on an M50 88 locally and am really intersted in it. Awesome video, really looks like a fantastic synth! Thanks!

KORG RH3 keybed on the 88 note - same as a Kronos!
Enjoy your reviews
Thank you kindly :)
Has the same joystick pitch bend my Korg Microkey 25 has.
You can get these at a steal. I had 2 before I sold one a kept 1. Similar engine to the m3.

@@gearfacts Thanks for the reply 😎 I will have to keep an eye for a good one on ebay. It does sound great indeed 👍
I have the M3 ,I think the M50 is the cut down version but stiil a great synth
Cool :)
Can the M50 make its own user beats / rhythms?
As far as I know it cn just sequence songs, not accompaniments. I'm open to be corrected by any other commenters though.
Hi, can you load PCG files into the M50?
Are PCG files the samples? Then no
@@gearfacts Thanks!

How would you compare it to the Korg Triton LE ?
Better sound but no sampling upgrade option. Both excellent keyboards :)
Very different. I owned both and the Triton is definitely a classic 90s synth.
I had the 61 and liked the sounds but the keybed was beyond horrible.
Wow that bad, really?
Strange keyboard...
It's awesome!
Bought one about a month ago (61 key for $100) Freaking love this thing
One if the best, or maybe the best out of the many that I have
$100?? Impressive deal :)
Sounds so old in a bad way
Nahhh I love this one!
