The National Leader of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has tasked the leadership of the party to continue in its efforts towards reconciling all aggrieved members and supporters, even as he vowed to ensure that every discord is addressed in no distant time. The LP presidential candidate in the 2023 general election also pleaded with the NLPTC protesters led by Abdulwaheed Umar, who stormed the party's national secretariat in Abuja, to sheath their swords and take the option of achieving their demands through legal means. Obi, who attended the National Working Committee (NWC) of the LP on Tuesday at the party secretariat, also commented on the reported reconciliation between the party and its estranged former leaders, led by former Deputy National Chairman Lamidi Apapa, insisting that the move was for its greater good.
He stressed that a family does not fight forever.

Peter Obi, this is the time for you to be direct and truthful to your supporters and Nigerians. A simple question who is the current Chairman of the party, you could not give a direct answer and you want people to check with INEC. What kind of an answer is that? The court declared Abure as the Chairman of the party and even if you do not agree but for the fact that was a court order to that effect as someone who wants to be the president of the nation at some point, your response to the reporter should have been direct and not evasive. All factions involved in this crisis waited too long to seek reconciliation; this should have happened during the election. How can LP convince Nigerians that if they ever win the presidency of the country that the situation will not be worse? The process the party made during the last general elections has resulted in the current situation the party is in right now. The gain made tore the part apart due to greed and accountability issues.
