I'm 79 and I change my mind all the time- that is how to stay lively!
I really like how this video is shot. You’re walking around and doing stuff while you talk which makes it feel like I’m hanging out with you in the apartment. So much more interesting than those traditional sit-down videos. Also love how David is making little commets from behind the camera!
Classic breakup with Berlin: it's not Berlin, it's me...
🤣
I've had people tell me that Berlin changed them 😂
Been im Berlin from 6 years, and honestly right now Berlin it's a shit hole, everything is too overprocessed, there's no space for more people, jobs are rarely hard to get and people now its totally rude and fucking fake because of the new youngsters, Berlin it's over.
Instead of London, why not Brighton? It's an hour away from London by train, you have the sea, a very alternative and culture atmosphere, and it's where most of youtubers are! It's an amazing city!
Yes! Brighton is a good idea!
Yes vote for Brighton!!!
Yes! London is very overrated in my opinion as a Brit. Brighton is cool AF and very alternative, so I could see the Mustards there!
Hi from Brighton, wouldn’t be anywhere else in the UK! 💕🙌
Yess, Brighton is a great place to live
Why is no one mentioning those cheeky transitions where Jenny turns around and somehow David isn't there??
It was a bit creepy but well done haha
I tot the same too
i think david must be walking backwards!
I would never guess that it will be London. Main thing is to be happy. So be happy and well in new place.
As a Brit, I would move to Tokyo over London any day of the week. London is AWFUL right now: Brexit is supposed to happen in March 2019, it’s causing loads of economic and social issues in the uk and London is no exception. I am Scottish and I need to make the choice between moving to London or Berlin once my work contract is over, and I have chosen to move to Berlin. I couldn’t imagine moving to London right now, but moving in March 2019 might be damn near impossible for you. Good luck x
You will Berlin ;)
It is so cool that you have each other, that you can keep up with each others needs and ideas. Good luck with the new beginnings!
I’m sad that you didn’t pick Tokyo because it’s more unique, exciting and true to your personal style, but I wish you the best of luck in London.
London is amazing and I totally get you! But I personally couldn't move back there 😆 I love it more when I'm away and just visiting!
I visited Edinburgh in September and fell in love 🖤 it has the variety and charm of London but feels more earthy and quiet.
You two!! I absolutely love the style of this video! Where do I begin. And the camera grab! HOW. Amazing ❤️
I feel like people romanticize Tokyo too much, just because I used to do the same thing. And because now, that I have been actually living and working in Tokyo for some time, I have developed a whole new perspective. A perspective you can only develop by actually living here, and NOT by staying here for a week or two. Of course it’s perfect when you visit it as a tourist, everyone is nice and polite and trying their best to present their country in the best possible light. And that’s all fine and natural really, of course you’d want a guest to enjoy their time while visiting your home. But that’s far from what Tokyo is actually like.
Anyways, thank you as always, a lovely video! And wish you the best on your new adventure. :)
It's kindof like inviting people into your home. If they come to visit it's nice, but if they don't want to leave, they are overstepping their boundiaries.
Japan will only remain Japan if it's for Japanese. Everyone else is an outsider. They are allowed to make that choice for themselves.
Pink Pepper I didn’t say they aren’t allowed to make that choice. I was only talking about foreigners who have this idea of Japan being a perfect country which is easy to live. I sometimes feel like people think Japan has no flaws, but I think it does have (and many at that), much like any other country around the world.
@@TailsMPrower dude. that country has discriminating and sexist tendencies and they are an issue. and that is not ok. not interested in visiting them nor in moving there. plus it's expensive af to buy healthy food and the air is polluted.
I can survive university. Japan is a pretty big country (compared to EU, anyway) and it’s not like that everywhere...maybe in Tokyo and Osaka it is...but there’s a lot more to Japan than just Tokyo. All met cities are harsh in some way...
Have you ever thought about Amsterdam? :)
My question as well!
She said they wanted to go bigger, not tiny 😶
Johanna Gerke-Saat was just going to suggest the same!
Dear Jenny,
I want to get something off my chest.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating such a masterpiece like "simple matters" is. I finally managed it to finsih it reading, mindfully of course.
I cant even tell you how much needed your kind, funny but true words were. I am trying to get me s*it together again and your book is a big WHY I am able to have the right mindset for that.
I follow you for quite a while now and your content always brights up my day as a minimalist vegan being.
Lots of love, Michelle from Vienna !
I am SO EXCITED to see and hear more about living in London!!! I love Black Books, it's one of my favorite London shows - also Spaced is my absolute favorite! Both are kinda old, but so hilarious and clever! Let's see what else, what else... Recently watched jonathan strange and mr norrell and the vibes are so good!
Black Books is too good for this world hahaha
Amelie Astor you ain’t lying!
Super Enthused yes - Spaced. Very accurate portrayal of Norf London life (if a little dated).
Black Books is EVERYTHING
Go forth and explore. And, thank YOU, for taking us with you! Looking forward to your moving-in-to-your-new-London-pad video 😉
Where will you move to in London? The thing I love about London is that its always changing - not always for the good: check shoreditch now :( - but there´s always new areas to discover. I really love South East London - it's very creative with the arts schools there and a tiny bit cheaper! Welcome back :)
Jenny, have you ever thought about Lisbon? Lisbon is one of the European cities with more light during the year; it’s a super vegan-friendly city and people in general know how to speak English. The cost of living is unbelievably cheap compared to the rest of Europe! It’s a city full of culture and where something is always happening, not to mention its lovely architecture and super nice people :) I know that you want to move somewhere bigger, but if you ever change your mind or just want somewhere new to explore, please keep Lisbon in your mind 🌼
London is an awful stressful city to live in. I lived there for 18 years. I now live in Scotland and it is wonderful here. You will regret it.
It's indeed so different for everybody. I moved here in 2011 after falling in love with the city in 2009. We stayed here until 2014 until I was offered a job in another country, but I could not bear it without Berlin, and in 2016 we moved back. I really feel at home here. Everybody is different. But I am happy for you moving back to London, if you love it.
I like how you went from being filmed to taking the camera. It kept things interesting! Good luck on your move to London :)
How can your videos always be so aesthetically pleasing? Ugh, just love it ❤️❤️❤️! Anyway, best wishes for you and David on your new journey 😊
ooo thank you sooo much !! you're the sweetest ( and hello you should talk with your crazy beautiful vids !? )
I hate big cities cause they are so busy. I like to live outside cities but still not super far so I can still go there if I want once in a while. been to london and berlin, its fine for a short visit but I would hate living there . But everyone likes different things :)
Every time I need some clarity in my life I watch your videos and then start cleaning my room 😂😂 love your style
You guys are too cool for London! As a jaded Brit, London is way overrated and expensive. For me it is only for the super wealthy or the starry eyed 18 year old who is happy to live in terrible accommodation. Sorry to be a cynic, but I can only handle London for the day, I find it so stressful. I'm from Oxford which is a beautiful small city (though costs are ridiculous there too). I'm tempted to move to the north of England nowadays where it's cheaper and people are friendlier anyway!
I currently am in London, went to Oxford last week, I enjoyed so so much, such a beautiful place to live. I found it quite crowded though with students and tourists, more than I remember a good 5 years ago the first time I visited! I agree that Britain has many great places outside of London
@@emmaphilo4049 so glad to hear you enjoyed Oxford! What was your favourite thing? Are you a Harry Potter fan? Yes you're so right, I feel it has changed so much in recent years. Sadly some of my favourite independsnt shops and restaurants have gone out of business or are on the verge of collapse. Such a shame that the local council seems to want Oxford to be as generic as many other High Sts when its charm is in its quirkiness! Did you go inside the covered market? I love it in there. I think the Ben's Cookies in there was the first one ever to open! Nom. Also there are some great places to eat and go out on Cowley Road, which is the more edgy (read: poor lol) side of town. I love the contrast between the intellectual and the rebellious in the city! Jericho is also lovely.
@@ameliel8792 maybe you could tell by my profile pic, but my thing is Tolkien, so I went to the exhibition at the Weston, it was GREAT. Yes I did feel the high street was very generic, like a little piece of London and to be honest I was so surprised at the crowd. But it still felt much more relaxed and it is such a beautiful place. I did enjoyed the covered market :) Especially a little shop called Fresh. I must visit the places you are talking about next time!!!! Thanks for telling me!!!
Move to Manchester!
Did you end up moving up north? I find London full on even after a day or two. But I am used to living in Sheffield! X
You are so special. I love that you keep moving forward and just do whatever you want to do. Most people are too afraid to do stuff like this and it is so refreshing to see you just going for it. You make me happy and follow my dreams.
Call the midwife is my favorite London series!
oh joy!! you can just see the enthusiasm in your eyes and hear it in your voice :)!
It's funny, I would have bet it would be Tokyo... Wishing you all the best for this new ex-chapter :-D
My favourite part of London is leaving it. It's a great city but I much prefer Manchester at the minute. Friendly, growing, creative, cheaper, mellow, slower pace etc etc
I was going to comment on your furniture, but you answered it. I remember you once said that you only buy things that you could fit in your car, that way you never required movers. And then I thought of all your furniture you have now, were you going to leave that behind and really start fresh, but you answered it that you will be bringing it along. Exciting time for the both of you.
Have you guys considered Holland? I find it as a mix of UK and Germany, it would be a lovely compromise.
If you ever get a chance visit Vancouver, Canada. It’s not as big as London or Tokyo but it’s relaxed, cultural, and absolutely breathtakingly beautiful!
I'm pretty sure it was Berlin though. Lived there for nearly a year, don't want to come back.
I completely agree with you on how living somewhere changes how you feel about it. I live in South Africa and for the past few years I’ve been saying that as soon as I get my degree I’m packing up and moving to Cape Town. Every time I go there it feels like magic, and every time I leave if feel like I’m leaving a little bit of my heart behind. I’m graduating in December this year but have decided to stay in the city I currently live in. While I still love Cape Town I’m not ready to lose that magical feeling it gives me 🧚♀️
This may seem a little silly, but I'm from Australia so moving countries is such a bonkers concept to me. I guess it's very different in Europe and the UK where you actually have other countries attached to you, but I'm so curious. Do you take an entire house worth of stuff with you? Or just a suitcase and start fresh? I'm so interested. Obviously, every experience is different, but if you don't mind me asking what's the plan? I can never fully wrap my head around the concept of moving from country to country it seems so huge to me from my big ol' Island nation! A video on what it's like moving to a different country as a fairly established adult and not someone living out of a suitcase 'travel living' would be very interesting to me!
thank you so much for your comment, you should definitely check out our podcast, we've talked extensively about this there
Jenny Mustard move to Sydney next 🦘
You realli got that type if personality that gets you in a cozy atmosphere. Might sound weird but thats how i feel.
I'm so excited for you guys! This video has helped me so much. My long-term (11 years!) boyfriend and I just separated, so I'm moving out next week. And you're absolutely right, moving helps with starting a new life :) Now I'm really excited as well!
I live in NYC and have been here pretty much my entire life. I would have loved to see how you adjusted to this type of lifestyle and culture. To me, NYC is wild and unpredictable but its definitely full of adventures and inspiration. The quality of life is not the best for those who dont make much money, however for those who can afford it will be able to enjoy the most of what the city can offer.
I also noticed that after living in Berlin for a while, it became completely normal for me to bump into people and not apologize since nobody did. And it felt like such a waste of time to do so, which in retrospect sounds ridiculous :D
I hate that behaviour...that is the worst about Berlin...the neverending sociopathy....but on the other hand I love how many great musicians from the whole world come here...that is the best thing! ☺
bad timing - from a German living in London.
@@lisa7754 @sweetygirl165 Same here. German living in SouthWest UK :)
@@ajrwilde14 this has become more true than I even imagined last year 😩
incompetent leadership and poor decision making, poor workers rights and a health and social system cracking from chronic underfunding. No control over COVID and the economy is more wrecked than most other places, set to be compounded by Brexit. Also loss of free travel for citizens incoming, which will cause queues at airports. Just to list a few... are you in the uk?
l loved the format/style of this video it’s fun to see such a beautiful made casual video!!
If you like Harry Potter books or stories, I would suggest reading Victoria Schwab's "Shades of Magic" series. There are four Londons you can travel to: Gray London, Red London, White London & Black London. There's magic, pirates, conspiracies, heists and diverse characters. Another series of books my friends LOVE is the Peter Grant series by Ben Aaronovitch, with the first book being "Rivers of London". It centers around Peter Grant, who wishes to be a detective and encounters "crimes involving magic and other manifestations of the uncanny". In terms of series, Sherlock is amazing and Doctor Who is a big favorite.
I lived in London in the 80’s and I miss it every day. I now live in Canada. My favourite movie is Mike Leigh’s “High Hopes”. It might be difficult to find, though.
My favourite London series is Call the Midwife. Set in and around the 40's but so in love with it
Your videos always always ALWAYS put me in the coziest moods
I really love that changing your mind and moving isn't portrayed bad in here, but as a positive character trait/thing so.......thank you ! I always thought it was bad to feel that way, that it meant that I would get bored easily and that it's not positive. Wow. You changed that. It actually can be very exciting
These casual videos are amazing. Love them!
I would love a video on your philosophy of starting over!
Love the filming style and a concept of getting ready in different rooms while giving a talk!
I’m trying to be in London at least once a year, this city has a weird magnet that I just can’t give up!
Congratulations to you both! Love the filming style of this video, too. Long time podcast listener.x
Me and my son recommend "Paddington" 1&2. We moved to England this year. Love it every minute.
Best wishes to you! As someone who has never lived out of the US, but has lived on both coasts and even a short time in the Midwest, it would be interesting to learn the logistics you need to do to make the move happen. Have fun!
I fell in love with London (again) a couple of weeks ago. The culture, the people, the career prospects and the feeling are just amazing. I am kinda from Frankfurt, Beijing, Shanghai, Nordrhein-Westfalen with a combination of Moskau, New Zealand, New York and South Africa mixed in the family) so I know when I can fully endorse a city. Just go for it and if you wanna change plans, do that as well :) I wish you guys the best.
I'm a Canadian expat living in Berlin for the last 5 years and I completely agree with your notes!
so... any good london movie/tv/book/influencer recommendations ??
Sherlock on Netflix ;)
Harry Potter !!!
Luther
Try NW by Zadie Smith!
Check out sustainibly_vegan on IG, I really love her and she lives in London
Also I've been there this summer for the first time and abs loved it!! Can't wait to see your adventures there
I think Tokyo is much more adventurous and I think that you and David will never get bored of Japan. Any way, is great a change always is a possibility to open your mind! 💖💖
I would recommend a city in the Netherlands too, because they are so pretty with a great atmosphere.
I am a moveaholic. I agree it is extraordinary to welcome and initiate change with extensive mindfulness and a free spirit- go Mustards!!
My husband and I are moving to Japan next year :) we're excited
I think its awesome you guys can move. honestly, home is where ever the mustard's are together!
I love the scene from Notting Hill where Hugh Grant goes through a whole year of seasons walking the length of the street market. And I love his very un-minimalist townhouse where he lives with his weird but lovable roommate.
Paddington! And Paddington 2, oh my god, it's incredibly British with the perfect amount of quirkiness and British humour, it's so lovely and captures London life perfectly, it's got the atmosphere down to a fine tune, it's witty and clever and adorable, it's a right charming film even if it's for kids, it's an unbeatable choice. A discovery of witches which is a TV show! The atmosphere in that is so homely and delightful filled with cups of tea and love, it's so comforting especially the first few episodes, favourite book has to be the Pretty City London book, a guide book of London and all its Instagram-able places, I love watching 101 Dalmatians, the original cartoon by Disney, so delightfully British and also all the period classics from the 18th century, I'm talking pride and prejudice, Wives and Daughters and Middlemarch and Cranford and North and South, I also highly highly recommend About Time, there's nothing more quirky and British than that and also Notting Hill, a complete classic, and because you guys love Anime and Japanese influence I cannot tell you how amazing Emma: A Victorian Romance is, it's based off a manga and the anime is equally wonderful and based in London. It's underrated and needs to be watched because of its authenticity,
Anyway that's all I can think of for now! Hope this helps! X
I'm really happy for you both! I'm sure London has changed quite a bit since you last lived there, and you guys are going back with new experiences and new challenges. It will be great - I'm sure. :) Only wish you had been there when I was living there! x
whaaat is up with the camera switches in this vlog?! I love it!! :D
Beccination me too!
thank you :))))
Me too, especially the mirror shot!! Very interesting.
I lived in London for 4 years. It’s uninspiring. I thought somewhere like Zurich or Amsterdam would be your jam
Loved all the creative camera work AND humor in this vid!!!!!! Subtle humor is an intelligent way of stimulating folks. You guys MUST be expanding inwardly
Jenny! First off your videos are amazing! I’m a new subscriber but so happy I came across your channel. You have such a great personality, thank you to you and David for making such great content!
ahhh man, you could not pay me to move to London! But each to their own. Good luck!
YAAAS Jenny and David, come back to London, this is where we all are nowadays! Can't believe we're going to be living in the same city. So excited for you, may everything go smoothly!
HI Jenny, I remember the very first video that I watched on your channel was about reasons why not moving back to London. At that moment I was thinking about moving back eventually (I currently live in Australia), and your video made me think that although I was excited about it, there were good reasons for leaving London in first place. I was wondering what are your current thoughts about it. What made you change your mind? All the best :)
Best of luck Jenny and David! Any city is lucky to have to you both. Excited to see the next chapter of The Mustards! Xo
As a Japanese, I’m happy to hear you like Tokyo that much even though you’ve decided to move to London. London is a nice city too, good luck!
I'm happy to hear, that you're opening a new chapter in your life or as Jenny said it poetically "having the new-in-moved-feeling". But I'm also a little sad, because I watch your videos since the beginning when you still lived in London and I moved to Berlin almost at the same time as you guys. I was always secretly hoping to accidentally bump into you so I could give you a "real life- thumps up" :) I think you guys are great and inspiring and I'm wishing you all the best for your "new London". Greetings from Treptow
Could you please make a video on how you effort and manage to move in other countries and cities ? Looove you guys, watched you grow so fast over the last years😍
Love your content. Would love to see another Very Mustard Chrismas series this winter.
Oh my gosh, Jenny! Good luck to you and David on your move to London. That is my dream city to live in (I currently live in Australia).
This edit was dreamy. Excited to hear you’re coming back to London!
I once visited London and totally loved it! It’s so elegant and cultural, I just love it. Well, in my recommendations let me begin with my UA-cam favorites, Minnie Small because I love her art! And Immy Lucas from Sustainably Vegan, because her movement #lowimpactliving must be so important for all of us. And finally I also want to mention that I’m currently reading de books from Ken Follett, The pillars of the earth and World without end and the drama it’s really shocking but also is life changing because you can realize that people back then
had real problems and know we cry with almost every little thing, so it makes you re-think lots of thinks haha, so! Enjoy your stay in London! xoxo
I like the style this video is shot in - you're done something interesting with the perspective switching, and still kept it casual and natural.
Oh boy, you are coming to my city!! Can't believe I could ramdonly bump into you!!
I have to say I agree with Berliners being rather stand offish, although I feel the same way about Londoners on the tube in the morning! Would be interested to know which area of London you are thinking of :)
Don’t worry girl you aren’t alone. I change my mind like the season. As I’m collage student that changed my major with first semester and I’m thinking of going beauty school now. I was planning move back to Alaska where my friends are however, I visited the wonderful and chill city of Montreal, Quebec. I just loved it so I’m planning to move there. Which will be my first international move.
I'm happy for you!!! 💕 The Mustards in London !
Good luck with your move guys! Can't wait to see what you have in store ♡
I have always wanted to move to another country. I am finishing university in one year. I would loooove to hear your story about moving to another country for the first time, with all the details. Love you
Glad you are coming here, make sure you travel to other bits of the uk too, I have lived in London all my life but there is so much to see in the uk.x
Would it be possible for you to make a video about Berlin favorites before you leave? Like restaurants etc, that would be nice :)
J&D - such a good job on editing this vlog , I love it - it looks soooo fresh :-) I am visiting London in January for the first time - and I couldn't be more excited . Lots of love form Prague !
How about checking out some of the London films from the swinging sixties then hunting down the locations to see if/how the areas have changed?
I’m a Londoner born and bred and have always agreed with the Samuel Johnson quote ‘when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life’. London is huge and so much more that the City, Westminster, Shoreditch and Notting Hill. If you tire of one area, explore another. Also being in London means easy access to most parts of the British Isles. It’d be great to see The Mustards discover other cities such as Leeds, Edinburgh and Newcastle.
Exciting. I love moving. I find that after three years in a place I start getting restless. I've been in Auckland for over six years now which is now longer than I've been anywhere else. Luckily New Zealand is so novel in so many ways that we've moved a few times here and I managed to get my dose of moving nonetheless.
Hey! Congrats for your decision - I get the thing with the atmosphere. I am very excited for you. On a different note, for those of us who will stay in Berlin, just an idea: maybe you do a flea market before you move? To leave your special vibes in the city :)
Oh wow, how exciting! All the best for your fresh start!
i think that's a bit thing about London - even if you move from one neighbourhood to another, it feels like living in a different city
I was surprised to not find Paris in the countdown, i know Paris is not as big as the other cities but it is a major world city. I love the ease of being European and being able to just pack your bags and move to another great european city with no need of special papers, visas, etc. That is my dream, im not from Europe but been living in Paris for almost 4 years. I feel Paris is the love of my life :D
London is so beautiful and fun. Enjoy the journey! Tokyo will always be there. I hope to go someday. My husband and I dream of Japan and Korea.
Also congrats! If you can move from a country that you don’t feel is your home, absolutely do it!
I love how you film your videos 😍 such a gorgeous aesthetic!
London has this very depressed atmosphere to me... but I hope you guys have fun :)
It's what you make of it. It's a massive city!
Only in the winter but then almost every place is kinda depressing.
I lived in London and German city Hamburg both. I used to live in London first and met my german husband and we moved to Hamburg. But after liiving there for 3 years,we moved back to London. Life in Germany was way easier financial wise but, there is something about London for us. London is a lot busier which could be annoying and more expensive (which is same as in Tokyo) but i feel much alive in London. Also so many things going on everywhere and i hardly feel that i stand out as a foreigner. Also as an Asian, there are much better authentic asian restaurants in London. The Numbers and quality are not comparable with even those in Berlin.
I am glad to here you are moving back to London.
