in 2023 i still comeback here to one of the best bike messenger docs ever made. masterpiece
true. i was given the dvd with photobook for my birthday about 13 years ago. i love it till today
yeah once an yeah, the music is tight too. FLowing.. I'm flowing...
This is one of the best documentaries i've watched till this day. The characters look like if they were scripted like if they were from a comic or something.
@@itsjustpizza ummm. No... He's saying what he said.
@@itsjustpizza he's just giving credit to the people and the documentary he saying its cool tf
@@itsjustpizza you're just slow af. This isn't about me... It's about you being too dumb to see in the context of his comment he was just complimenting the messengers and the documentary as a whole.
These guys are real heros, real characters, real poets. This film should be on youtube forever. The film maker did a great job. This is nothing like bike riding awesome film most people expect from this kind. I am not a messenger but I relate to these guys so much and never get bored to watch this again and again.
I used to be a messenger. Real cool movie.
Word up, I did the music for This film, well me and gedi did. And ye I seen skelator riden around in 2017 when I was I Manhattan working, I shouted him out he was like see, everybody knows me. Was hilarious.
The score Is really good. It's like IDM hiphop. Really enjoy the closing track!!!
@@thicks7870 if you listen you to the closing and opening tracks they were made with the same sounds the opening track was gritty but i wanted the end track to sound hopeful but still a bit erie.
lowkey I keep coming back to this video because of the music, awesome job giroskitsoo
Would u ever release the tracks u made for this? Would be dope to listen o.0
@@aviv441 I would, but its not possible. Don't have the originals. Don't have any of it. I'm still making music though. You can check out this channel I'm replying from, that's where I post stuff. I dont use that giroskitsoo account anymore.
Best vintage bike documentary I ever saw. This motivates me more and more to ride my bike every day. Great stuff
I come back every year to re watch this beautiful film. This video needs to stay alive
I love the old new york. So many f*cking characters.
I've watched this a few times & often think of these guys whenever/where ever I ride. They would have loved the infrastructure and more sensical laws we get to enjoy in the city today. NYC has come a long way from the days of this video. Also, Skeletor is the man. & yelling "Hip, Hip!" here and there always makes a ride more fun.
skeletor rides to this day
that's awesome
check out the Cheat Death NY channel, he rides on there currently.
Still rides today!
Cookies and poke chops falling out of their pockets, haha.
This is a great film, very well made and tells a good story. It's inspiring but also a very honest picture of what bike couriers do and how they live. I'm glad I saw this, I had sort of romanticized this job and even thought about moving to a big city to work as a courier. It looks like these riders pay dearly for their freedom and their passion. (shit pay, danger, tickets, smog, stigma etc.) I'm not sure I'm willing to make the trade offs they do...
Man this was a really good documentary. Dexter seems like a fucking incredible human being yet it seems as though most people probably wouldn't give him the time of day, it's a crying shame.
Skeletor is the man, that dude can ride.
Yeah he takes wild lines and very fast
That cab driver is a real prince 😂
princess
Deepest respect to those people!
Greetings from the everyday bicycle abuser from Croatia ❤😎
This is a beautifully filmed documentary. Really love the camera work
Skeletor's legs tho holy shit 10 years!!
DruMeister YEP. Witness the fitness.
+DruMeister His secret is crack
DruMeister I wonder what hes eating with messenger pay back in the 90s
An outstanding short film. It really illustrates how absurdity of the rise of the hipster bike culture and the disappearance of the "real" New York.
Jacob Mecklenborg incomplete sentence?
Jacob Mecklenborg something is missing
Jacob Mecklenborg huh?
@@QuinnTube2 Old comment but he probably meant "It really illustrates THE absurdity of the rise of the hipster bike culture and the disappearance of the "real" New York."
Shout out to all of my bike commuters, messengers, enthusiasts! 🚴♀️
and dont you forget about enthusiasts in jail!
Crazy to see how life was pumping through the streets of NY like blood through our viens. and then to watch those planes stab NY in the heart stopping the life we see in this doc. Great Job.
Wow. How incredible. Thank you for the upload
17:46 guy has a lot to say for someone with steering alignment like that
YEAh YEAh YEAH YEAH HUUH HUUH HUUH - Skeletor 2001 best quote
God I love these guys
Im not gonna die riding... Eric fucking legend.
"They're always going to be out there tomorrow." ... Yes Steve. Miss you more every day. Fast Eddie.
Skeletor is a legend!
Great documentary, salute to all the bike messengers out there
That was a cool video. Depressing and inspiring at the same time. Pretty cool to see them rockin fixies back then. I thought it was just a recent trend.
+Kenny Rodger This movie was made in 2001, but yes, we were rockin' fixies back in the 80s, long before it caught on with the (now defunct) masses.
+Ryong Choi nice
+Ryong Choi Nah,it was Quicksilver
***** Good movie :)
Kenny Rodger fixies were just road bikes made into brakeless single speeds, like track bikes, which were the original single speed no brakes bike.
Awesome, thanks for posting! ❤️
Everyone is so fascinated with Skeletor......what about Dextor? What gem of a human being. Wish there were more people like him in the world.

Eric, Evil E, passed away in Sept 2018. He is very much missed.
@@stephaniebaker3521What happened to him?
Now the trackbiker are always trying to show off them gear and stuff, but there is never about the gear, is about the riders and the spirit that the riders have.
damn right, they loose something today, it’s soul

@FITNESSOVER45 Yeah, he died in 2018 like my dad.
2018 was a bad year.
I am from L.A. and yes it is like a battle zone riding the streets...ride down Vermont coming from Hollywood....thats a rush.
Completely insane. So cool.

Aye man whoever put this together. Mad fucking props.
anyone know where i can find the video of bonus content to this documentary? looks like the old link got removed
One day there will be drones delivering stuff but people will probably still feel the need to ride a bike.
holy shit I just watched Need for Speed from '94 by coincidence and it has some of the same people riding for mothers messengers

Never heard of this till now wow😮😮🔥🔥🔥
Licit…..now. Back. In Seattle / rain city ….. I. Still miss it❤……..

Na
that was a dope ass doc
what a great documentary
i hate the name evil e for eric because he genuinely seems like a good guy
I was 23, and I did it for 3 months back in 1994. I rolled with a
company down on (I think) 27th street, btwn 6th and 7th. I tell ya, this
was the shittiest job I have ever done, and I have done some pretty bad
jobs in the past. The pay was an insult, and most of it I spent on
snapple and gatorade while working anyways...
The worst feeling was when (in February) you have to ride from wall street to mid or uptown, uphill and against wind... Gosh, it shivers me just to think about it.
its hobowork.... that says it all
😂😂😂😂💀😭💯
Gotta love NYC
Very well done film.
John Gilliland very well done comment.
That 666 building from 12 mins, 666 5th Ave, is Jared Kushner’s building.
43:58 what a character 😂😂😂💀
They could make a video game about this

What do you guys do for bike maintenance? DIYers mixed with a LBS? And what about keeping your drive trains clean and lubed?

This is a great documentary anyone know of any more like this?

Red Light Go, it also focuses on messengers and alleycats. Even features Eric from this film, tho in RLG he is in prison
@minna1661 Mahalo 🤙🏾
BRONX MONX? not too much info on the net, any ideas on their discography?
Rip Eric
Nice! Repent and make straight the Way of the Lord... Love it!
Saw the video quality from thumb nail and wanted to see how shit this would be from ten years ago 😂. It this was a very enjoyable watch and one that I’ll come back to watch again for sure. Every character is very unique and original. As a guy who did bike messenger for a week in Toronto some time ago no one can beat the excitement of bike messaging in nyc. Skeletor need way better ergonomic on his bike. That bike is too low for him but he is a crazy mf. Awesome footage. Beats 98% of new video coming out at present moment. Thumbs up to whoever made it.
I love NY
Onde posso encontrar esse documentário e legendado em PT-BR???
Anyone know how Skeletor is doing ?
The US, a society built for cars, business.
roads are build for bikes and horses.
What do you think about that ?

HELP, what's the track ID at minute 15:30
Does someone know what that song at 22:41 is??
nice
Besides being in an office at a 9-5 you must conform to a work culture and essentially be as "normal" as possible. But not as a bike messenger.
17:46 buddy, you need a wheel alignment BAD! 😂
whats the track at 7:15?
damn that smoking guy s got some
charisma
That crash at 42:00 holy shit.
those are the good ones, the shitty ones is when you hit the side full speed
the little girl forgot where the breaks are
She’s a idiot she didn’t look she just went for and paid the he price. Situation awareness is key to riding brake less.
