I rewatched the head bang. He really bounced it off the mat. I'd say, concussion and whiplash. The effects were delayed because of adrenaline.

@@philipj.sherman2987 Nick has out wrestled yianni many times. What is the score in freestyle now? Nick lee is well ahead. No one is a bigger fan of yianni, but nick has beaten him many times. If yianni gets an injury that doesnt mean we hold that against nick lee. Nick lee performed.

Wow! A lot of Yanni fans commenting. I’m sure Yanni was physically hurt, he hit his head pretty hard. I think he’s mentally hurt as well…he’s 0-4 against Nick Lee. Being dominated is hard on the emotions.
Lee’s a really talented wrestler but I think Yianni’s the man to get it done on the international level as he proved by making the world final in ‘22

How many times does Lee have to beat Yanni before you change your mind? And do you think the USA wrestling coaches should just pick the team rather than let the wrestlers on the mat decide?

If Yanni gets a break for those losses then give Spencer Lee a break for his tourney loss last year because he had bad knees. A loss is a loss and at this point if Yanni beats Lee it would have to be considered an upset.

1:55 if Nick Lee doesn't kick his leg up when Yianni brings him down, Yianni doesn't hit his head coming down and we end up with a completely different match.

Man Yianni is an incredible master of controlling his body and as freakish as this head off the mat collision was, I worry about him being able to perform at his apex going forward without being constantly injured.
He’s so damn tough that he tore his ACL as a True Freshman IN THE QTR’s beating 2x returning National Champ before avenging his only loss that season vs NCAA Finalist Jaydin Eirmman in the Semi’s and coming from behind to beat 2x NCAA Finalist/#1 seed Bryce Meredith in the finals just to not miss any time to start the next season and dominate to another national title where he didn’t even have his offense back since the injury and was still whoopin ass.
He’s almost tough to his detriment because maybe there’s some times where he should take time off a care for his body to have the best performance possible instead of not missing a competition, then ultimately making some changes positionally and technically because since 2019-20 he seems to always be wrestling through some kinda injury/limitations, and his style and toughness continues to put his body in some gnarly positions to withstand without massively increasing the probability of getting injured.

@francostacy7675 He was concussed during this match, hence why he forfeited the next match. He's still young, and I have faith in him. He's beaten some of the best in the world.
Watch Yianni's takedown, the doctor is already up and off the bleachers walking to check on him before the whistle is blown to stop the action.

Maybe Jordan Burroughs wouldn’t have won so much if Russians or Iranians had not been injured maybe Spencer Lee would have 4 ncaa titles if not for his knee but they don’t say that …. David Taylor still won with a head injury and now Flo makes comments asking is Taylor that good or is the competition bad….maybe they should down play ncaa heavy weight champion by saying Gable Stevenson left early ….flow has their darlings and yanni is one of them
the ref really should have known to stop match and have Yanni checked again instead of pushing him to the center. especially for a head injury.
