Too early to say whether Caroline Shaw will be the saviour of classical music. But I have been listening to a cross section of her music, including the stunning Partita for 8 voices, and she has a freshness, clarity and innovative quality that scrapes away the encrusted barnacles that have gathered on the bottom of the SS Artmusic for over a century.
The UA-cam algorithm offered me her “And So” with the Attacca Quartet a few minutes ago. I was mesmerized! I definitely plan on acquainting myself with more of her works. (Retired oboe player here. To a certain snarky and negative critic commenting below: yes, I'm reasonably musically literate.)
I am thinking today of that beautiful land I shall reach when the sun goeth down; When through wonderful grace by my Savior I stand, Will there be any stars in my crown? Refrain: Will there be any stars, any stars in my crown When at evening the sun goeth down? When I wake with the blest in the mansions of rest Will there be any stars in my crown? In the strength of the Lord let me labor and pray, Let me watch as a winner of souls, That bright stars may be mine in the glorious day, When His praise like the sea billow rolls. (refrain) O what joy it will be when His face I behold, Living gems at his feet to lay down! It would sweeten my bliss in the city of gold, Should there be any stars in my crown. (refrain) High King of heaven, my victory won, May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
@@topologyrob BS music period. She is a joke as are most of the Pulitzer winners of the last few years. When she first won the prize my colleges and I laughed.

YES, SO TRUE!😊
Classical music can be saved by audiences opening up their minds to new ideas.
Kanye West introduced me to Caroline Shaw and I have never looked back since. She's amazing
So beautifully moving!
how lucky am I to find this...I am the luckiest person

This style of singing beautifully compliments her voice. Good lord, the high notes
Now that was lovely! It was magical!
I’m so happy to hear your music. Listening to you and your music helps me make peace with the world. So special. 🍀🌱🌻☘️🍂🍁🌾🌼
Love your soothing angelic voice. Never listened to anyone who is as creative as you. All the best to you &
Jasper Quartet. 😊🎉🌹💖
Beautiful music and poetry. Truly, Shaw is an amazing talent.

Her voice has such wonderful colors!
I completely adore it!
Your voice makes me cry
Quelle présence !
Magic. But then I'm biased. I love Caroline Shaw and all of Roomful of Teeth

Very nice. This is the Calder Quartet. They should be named in the main title.
They are! (correction after your reaction?).

Anyone know where I can purchase the music to this??? I would love to do it on a recital!
I found the "Caroline Shaw Editions" webpage, and unfortunately, I do not see it offered there.
lupe fiasco samples 3:49 in 'summer' or spring or something
Kanye brought me here.
I'm pleased to say that Kanye did not bring me here.
I can`t believe that this is great music.
You do this a lot don't you? What celestial spheres you and your taste inhabit! You must invite us sometime. Oh please do...
@@davidherz9968If you like Shaw, then I doubt you would understand.
@@shnimmuc Oh come on, pull the other one. That kind of fake superciliousness fools no one.

@@shnimmuc You and your colleagues need educating, clearly.
The quartet doesn't make this concert music. Ditch it and get someone to strum a folk guitar. That will be more genuine.
Mediocre tonal music trying to sound like contemporary music. Uninteresting.
The Pulitzer Prize for Music would like to have a word with you.
