Welcome to day 18 of "Newbie to Ninja” here on Why Logic Pro Rules! This series will be dropping daily (Mondays - Fridays) for the next few weeks. If you’re brand new to Logic Pro, this series will help you go from feeling like a beginner to complete comfort in Apple’s amazing DAW.
While Logic's Take Folders are awesome, Logic has another system for juggling your creative ideas if Take Folders feels a bit too restricting. Track Alternatives lets you easily flip between different ideas and takes with the click of your mouse. Here's why you should love and use Track Alternatives.

This is really well done. I've been using Logic for years and I never noticed this feature - thanks!
Thanks so much for this. I’ve created a new project for every new idea, and this makes the whole thing much easier!
These tutorials are very clear, and consise, yet thorough. Thank you for the resource.
I’m still unclear of the advantage of track alternatives as compared to take folders. Is it that creating a comp of midi tracks is slightly easier using track alternatives?
I had no idea this was a thing! So cool thank you!
Excellent explanation. Thanks!
Ur tutorials make mind comfort ❤️
Very helpful, Thanks!!
So good! Thank you
Out of curiosity, is there some other advantage of using track alternatives over just using take folders? To me, they seem to do the same exact thing only with track alternatives you lose the ability to do comping. Why not just use take folders? Is it because with track alternatives you could maybe have things like separate automation, inserts etc per track alternative? (I don't know if you can or not actually) Just trying to figure out the core difference.
kinda late - but after playing around for bit. Track Alternatives also work in swapping out different parts of the timeline, unlike Take folders which only work on specific regions. Whats great is you can use Take folders in Track Alternatives adding another layer of control.
Is there a way (i.e., one click) to export a take from a take folder to a new track alternative instead of a new track?
My Logic isn't showing that drop-down menu next to the track names for Track Alternatives.
Look at the 3:02 point in the video to fix that
