It's a mystery to me why so many tourists come to Camden. The place is a hell-hole. Since Israeli billionaire Teddy Sagi took over, the markets have been trying to appeal to a different type of visitor. Prices have gone up for everybody and everything, the edgy and interesting vibe has been banished, and all that's remained are vulgar theme-park elements, the tacky souvenir shops and other money-laundering enterprises, whose nefarious purpose means the last thing on their minds is appealing to visitors. It also makes me laugh how they try to promote Camden as the mecca of British music, when all you can hear from Camden Town tube to Stables Market are these souvenir shops blasting out Indian music. It's more Kolkata than Camden. And don't get me started on the awful amplified buskers… No wonder Sagi has been trying to sell the markets, though he's not found anyone dumb enough to buy so far.
