As someone who has done a lot of work on dozens of cars in this state I recommend he completely disassemble the vehicle. Replace all wires, build a new PCM and motor harness. Build a separate body harness, replace or remove anything plastic or moldy, completely rebuild the engine with better parts and start fresh from the brakes and suspension. Any flood car the wiring is trash. I don't care what it looks like, its done. After the wiring is everything electronic the wiring runs, pcm, window motors, alternator, all of it. The best possible outcome is remove all of it and rebuild with new and better parts.
12:39 “...the wiring is all good”. As I understand the flood car problems with wiring, it is due to capillary action. As the wiring harnesses are flooded they begins to intake water into the space between the metal wire and the plastic insulation. Since this space is enclosed it cannot be effectively dried out. And since the water is retained over a long time period, corrosion can occur, this can affect the effective current carrying capacity of the wiring which leads to wires overheating and potential electrical fires. Electrical and electronic parts have similar issues or like the fans with moving parts, corrosion kills them from the inside out. You might test individual portions of the harness to compare actual wire resistance back to what that wire resistance should be, it will vary with the wiring gauge. Best to install new harnessing that supports mission critical components.
I would say get a complete new harness from wiring specialties or ry wire. Luckily for you matt there is endless factory and after market support for the car.

BANSKI motorsports makes a Hiem jointed rear suspension kit for the toe rods camber arms and trailing arms that will completely eliminate a lot of bushing which is great for track usage and etc I have this as well and I love them 👍🏼 glad to see someone giving a c4 some love!
Shoot for 650-700 to the wheels with a single turbo, mild build on the lt5 for reliability NOT more power, supporting modern drivetrain and suspension, and a cage. Nice reliable racecar.
When a motor sits for that long, the gaskets tend to degrade and things may rust in the bore. I would try some Slick 50 and hope the rings are not broken. If it were me, I would tear it down completely and rebuild the engine and drivetrain. Wheel bearings are something to check as the grease tends to fall apart in water. Matt you’re doing what I am planning on doing with my gen 3 Camaro, I am going to be doing coil overs, swapping the 305 motor for a LSA engine, then making the entire dash custom and I am also thinking about not putting the stock door card and making some aluminum ones and lastly making a custom wide body kit that doesn’t make it look like a ricer. BTW good luck with the car I look forward to see what you’re going to do with your corvette.
Upgrade everything from the block up, heads, head studs, cam and lifters, intake manifold, turbo/supercharger, upgrade the fuel system, holloy fuel mang. System, suspension, brakes and roll cage!
This may be one of those times when, teaming up with another channel is a good idea both ways. Like Fasterproms has a C4 Vette he has re built and it's old school cool. He has a ton of knowledge so you do it correct the first time. He has a ton of parts for C4s also.
Collaborate with Cleetus McFarland, James and Coop and build a sick daily.
get some McFarland Fab on that bad boy to a nice 86mm turbo, send pistons to Jupiter call it a day
I would do a supercharger, intake, headers, catless downpipe, catback exhaust (side pipe) stock dash, custom upholstered doors, racing seats, swappable racing harness.
you should Cleetus McFarland about the build. He is very familiar with corvettes that drag race
“Demolitia, my love...” don’t tell Mere.
hahahahahahaha
wife shouldnt care
You need to get in touch with Cleetus Mcfarland!
As someone from Houston I think its really awesome you got Mack's old car! I grew up seeing it on some of his commercials.
Call up Jeremy at Fasterproms. He has a UA-cam channel. And a C4 go fast guru. Seriously.
Matt: " you know, I'm not busy enough. ya, I should start to restore a car". probably.
Take that hood off, Matt. You'll thank me later.
yeah i was thinking the same thing
Definitely
But the headlights....
Its not leroy, ruby or toast 🤦♂️
@@Rebelx251 I liked that 😂😂
Love to watch someone working on a Z. I own a 92 ZR1 which makes this very interesting. Keep up the good work!
