What they're saying doesn't make sense. The players we'd go to "lean on" if we had mad injuries aren't key players. Lukaku? Kepa? Chilly is injured as much as reece James. We couldn't even lean on him after the 1st few games last season?
And enough chat with the squad size. So many of those listed as 1st team players are players who haven't featured, barely played last year or from the academy. It's only the new additions of chilly and sterling that has all these journalists losing their minds😱. One is always injured and the other hasn't played anywhere near the level that justifies 300k a week. His peak was at city and playing in peps system makes some players seem better than they are and that's sterling. Never understood why we bought him in the first place.
If you listen to any journalists that actually have connections within Chelsea, they don't paint anywhere near as bad a picture as the general media.
I don't fault Maresca for this stand he's taken. Something just had to be done, all else the problem of oversized squad will never go away. Unfortunately it is ruthless but he just had to take a decision. It is a risky one, but that's where Chelsea is at now. I like his honesty, he spoke the truth to every player involved.
Maresca just translates what his Masters say. He is playing with fire with current results and the first 11(Sanchez, Fofana, Fernandez). Without top goalkeeper, central defenders, forward he risks being fired before Christmas
I am really bored of the criticism from ESPN. I have no problem with someone criticising Chelsea but you have to do it fairly. Unfortunately, ESPN has made it its priority to always criticise Chelsea no matter what the club does. The good thing is that it is now very obvious what their agenda is.

From the late 2000s Chelsea have had big squads, bordering on 25, with 10+ players on loan. People famously complained we had a big loan list.
In fact, they later say what happens if you need to rely on these players. If we have too many players why will we have to rely on players who are extra and too much? What kind of punditry is this? It's gas lighting.
