- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- Disaster strikes as our buddy boat flips their dinghy in big surf at Ollie's point in Costa Rica. It has a center console, and a 30Hp 4-stroke outboard, so flipping it and getting the motor going again is no easy task... Plus later that evening we go to a party at a mansion in Flamingo bay with some new friends!
If you would like to go skiing in Japan contact Simon and Gigi at Kodama lodge!! simon@kodamalodge.com
SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. They found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are almost ready to cross the Pacific Ocean!!

Life is not about possessions, it's about the people you meet along your journey, and that's what you will remember. 💙💙
So true!
The freeloaders love to use other people’s possessions
Always believed in the saying, "if you want to meet interesting people, do interesting things"...
Slightly easier if one of your possessions is a catamaran tho'... ;-)
This episode Shows what great hosts and guests you are and the reason you won the award and the reason I voted for you. Great work.
Nice things for nice people great episode 👍👍🙏🇬🇧
Your energy attracts such amazing people, everyone you met has always such great words about you, touched by your generosity and knowledge thank you for these showing us your life and these great moments love from Sydney 🇦🇺 I am definitely hooked!!!!
Colin you are a class act in how well you treat every person you meet✌️💜

Colin you have the best life
Really enjoy your travels
It's so amazing to see all your blood, sweat and tears paying off so well.
I remember watching everything you went through to get to this point and can say with certainty you're a rare spirit.
Well done Colin, so well done Captain.
Congratulations on turning what was your dream into a reality and thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...
Parlay…I am an Engineer in U.S. Coast Guard and we use those exact same Victron’s and the Blue Sea system selector switches. We have the same problem of the switches randomly failing….FWIW.
Good on you for making such a special moment for that family Colin.
Life is a great enjoyment when meeting others, whether they be few in number at a time, or many, and sharing the blessings of our own existence. I love life.
Those Swiss folks are cool, glad "we" met them !!!
Hi Colin the best thing to do with a fault like this is before you fix it, with your loads on check for voltage drop across the connections.. i.e cable lug to cable lug, cable lug to switch terminal bolt..etc etc until you find the voltage drop.. Most likely is that the switch terminal bolt had worked it's way loose and was resistive causing it to heat up.. Switch failure is also a possibility for a few reasons.. heat, moisture, corrosion, excessive current... etc... Or running devices at a low battery voltage.. Remember current is inversely proportional to voltage in that scenario, meaning if voltage goes down current goes up.. Not convinced this could happen with lithium batteries, but test some voltages while things are running for peace of mind.. Best Regards.
such great advice from a professional 👌
Amazing time on Parlay Revival! Thanks so much for having us on board for the sunset cruise!! 🤙🌅
Yeeew! That house was insane
I recently discovered your channel so I've been living vicariously through you. I lived aboard a 40 ft monohull and sailed that boat from Canada to the US and down well into Mexico. We spent one entire winter cruising through the Sea of Cortez in Mexico. I love seeing your adventures and it makes me want to buy another boat. The very worst day of sailing is still far better than the best day of working. Fair winds, my friend.
Hey I know your an engineer but here in the states I am a lead automotive tech and I also work on heavy diesel trucks but for the large cable lugs we no longer crimp them or even punch them. We use either the same or heavier lugs this works with copper or the heavier aluminum pigs but we get these solder pellets and put a few into the lug the heat it with a pocket torch then push the cable in so it’s completely soldered together and this just makes a such a better connection. Just crimping you never know if you have a really good connection. Just because if you pull on it and it doesn’t move does not necessarily mean you have a great connection. These solder pellet slugs are flux core and extremely easy to use. Well ours are flux core I don’t know if all the ones made are. But I thought this info may help you out you can order some online and improve your main wiring for some insurance from future problems. Hope this helps oh yeah we use the heavier battery cable lugs rather then the copper. They seam to handle the power better and are more reliable. Love the channel brother.
Solder should never be used alone for a connection like this. It can become brittle and increase resistance with stress or completely fail under high temperatures, such as under high current. You still need a primary physical connection such as a crimp or screw/bolt lug. Also please know copper is a significantly better conductor and has higher tensile strength than aluminum. It’s just heavier and more expensive than aluminum.
Colin I use a hand held FLiR that was only 200 buck here in canada and it works amazing for checking wiring for problems early on. It will even show hot wires in the walls. Or hot or cold exhaust manifolds
great message man, Colin needs one of those for sure! 👌
I never get tired of watching your adventures. You meet the nicest people because you are kind and generous yourself.
More like he's self centered.
You guy's video quality has been outstanding as of late! So cool that you share your boat with so many. Glad it is a joy for you. Thank you for sharing!
One of your best videos.. fair winds.. S/V La Sirena
Great episode. Meeting new people and sharing great times is Parlay!
You are fearless Colin - I’m obsessed watching these videos -never a dull moment, hoping maybe one day 🙏🏽 would love to sail on your boat, safe travels XO

This is the life! Nice work Colin and crew! Talking to people, inviting them over to do a sail and ending up at a huuuuuge house in return. Awesome!
Great episode.
Safe travels Kayla, Simon and Gigi!
Moment of silence for big bird that fell in the water. 🐦 🌳 💧 🐊
It probably died thinking, "hey, isn't that Colin off the UA-cam?"...
Distraction can be a dangerous thing...
✨Building Memories. Honored to have met you Colin. 💙 You are a precious man to honor folks dreams!
I just want to say thank you thank you thank you for all of your good content takes me away from the hustle and bustle of the city that I live in LA.
Once again, great content and adventure, more so in 21:00 minutes than just about everything on broadcast T.V.
Colin , you are so hospitable so friendly and you are like a people magnet. People just love to be around you and I think your personality is infectious. I’m sorry to hear about your surfboard. I remember when you were having it made! I can’t believe
Your surfboard, was broken so badly. Boy if I’m ever in a disaster I want you around to help. You are a man of honor! Really enjoyed this video. You are so humble and so many beautiful doors get opened to you and what a surprise and a treat it was for you to visit that beautiful home. You see what I mean!
Good one Colin, nice. Thanks for sharing.
I had a buddy’s 17 ft boat sink and after a week under in salt water he didn’t want to deal with it so gave it to me. I flipped it over and pulled her on land. That afternoon she was running. It was a 70hp Suzuki. They are great motors. Love what u guys get up to , Tank Bermuda
This episode put a smile on my dial 😊 seeing all your hard work come to fruition. Colin you are an inspiration for this little Maori boy in Aotearoa Nga mhi nui 🙏
Morena Colin and crew! Awesome fun your having. Love that song “be free”. What an epic day!
Can't wait to drink a beer with y'all one day.🍻
Being in my sixties now your words in the beginning about looking back are so true. Enjoy life you will not regret it. Looking back now there is a lot I regret that I passed on trying to be the responsible one. Live life.
Another amazing video Colin. You were a godsend to help oug Trevor and Kerry. They would really have been "up the creek" if you weren't there when you were. Wishing you and the Parlay crew a blessed Christmas. Best wishes and safe sailing for the year ahead. 🏄♂️⛵️
What a fabulous day,to see you living your best life is a marvellous thing🧡💫🧡
Don't ever stop colin👌👌
So cool you share with so many people. Well done!👍👍👍
Thanks Colin and crew - another great video! That mansion looked like a resort - amazing!
Great job you guys, must feel pretty good to get stuff going. What a beautiful world we have! Play safe and enjoy!!!
So fortunate and blessed to be experiencing life this way. Yeah, I'm jealous! Great times, great people, memories forever.
Another great video
Love it, what a great experience!
Sitting on the dry in Panama , did you ever think it would turn out like it as so far ? , all the hard work is paying off 🎉
Awesome episode
Thanks. You always put a smile on my face on Sunday morning. I hope you have a great Christmas and New Year.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks
Regular day in Australia. I enjoyed the content.
Di-Electric grease on all electric connections. Stop corrosion resistance before it starts!
Use your ohm meter, measure between the contacts, move the switch ON to OFF, ON should read 0 ohms, OFF should read Infinity.. , SWITCH should be removed from power to test, thanks for the videos
Measure the voltage drop across the switch while you have it under load. It should be extremely low. You can calculate the resistance using ohms law.
You can also do this with the cables to make sure the crimp connectors have not gone high resistance.
What an incredible video and that house, OMG! Cheers
Merry Christmas from your followers from California, Chuck and 🐞🇮🇹Vita Maria.
Inspiring Captain. Very good show as usual and lovin' it!
Great ep..
You need a fuse between the switch and the battery so the fuse can blow and have a spare fuse tied next to it. Use class T fuse at leat 400 Amp fuse. Also buy the big Grey 600 Amp switches those small switches are marginal for the size of your system.
awesome advice! 👍
@@TrevorHeathPhotography Yeah - at 12v then 3600w (easy to reach with 1100w from the water-maker plus a kettle or induction stove) is already 300 Amps...
Just blown away, what an epic journey...
you put a smile on my face every week , thanks
Looking forward to welcoming you to Tenacatita. Our dog Lapa will also enjoy company. Reserved 7 spots at the Christmas Eve party for you with SV Harmony. ☺
Always deserve 👍👍 for the good and bad times you share!! May the good ones always outnumber the not so good ones!!😺
You guys always have the most epic fun and adventures. And that's why I watch this channel, it is a religion with me. Lol..keep it up
Colin and crew
Beautiful life.
I see your Pilsen, I’m having one right now. Too bad we missed you here in CR
Awesome videos, thanks for sharing your journey!
Great job getting that tender back upright and running. I'd be curious to know if the outboard and electronics are still functioning after a month or two. Glad you see you living your dream, as you fought hard for it.
gregarious life with social relating. The gathering of like minds souls and heart. Partay revival on the Parley. And what a great social director you are, your crew nd those you come in contact with kindred spirits. Keep it up. 20 minutes is not enough, and maybe a live feed while at doing what you do, rather than a bench or sofa setting. You'll figure out the sound and video stuff. Party on... Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Believe this, Those electronics wont be working for very long!! I wish him the very best but seen this many times!! Keep lots oil to that motor, Colins correct on the starter tho!! After a salt bath, The air will kill it quick, Best of luck to all you guys!! Love ya video,s!!
wow, Great episode. Great people. You were right, What a House! Were they renting it?, or did they own it? Glad to see you enjoying things and not worrying, so much, about the boat.
o mate awesome episode bro
I had the same switch and the same problem with the switch
Great episode ... that coastline looks awesome.
Hint with your outboard always have the catch down for if you hit the bottom it bounces up saves you from tomuch damage.
An infrared thermometer and a megger are great troubleshooting and quality control tools. They aren't that expensive. I'm sure you've used these. They take the guesswork out of the equation.
Thank you
*Kia ora Colin, Meri Kirihimete (Merry Christmas) to you and all your crew and a hari tau hou (happy new year) Kia kaha (stay strong) and keep well over the holiday season.*
Those mini 300 amp switch’s from Blue Sea fail, you can reach out to them and they may replace it at no cost. I believe they have made some design changes to correct the problem.
I love you guys
For electrical issues,I am a big fan of the handheld flir, inexpensive nowadays and shows hot spots quite quickly.
Nice you found the elec prob. but to have all these spare parts has to be daunting! I know you've done this once or twice, but still the littlest part could shut you down, let alone the troubleshooting knowledge!!!!
Chilean Wine!!! lets gooooo
Hi Colin those battery switches are absolute crap if you measure the resistance across the terminals it’s always high
Well that motor may run today, but without a total teardown and cleaning I suspect it will have problems in a few weeks. Keep us updated!
Those switches are notorious for breaking.
I do believe you EXCEEDED the weight capacity on that dinghy! Lol
Living life the right way.
Man that was nice
Great video with some really cool people!
OLLIES met other surfers there Mike Dewry. OP is my most fav surf spot in CR and Lola's. The house must be near Little HI
epic !!!
"Take it easy" Uncle Colin 🤙🇳🇿🗿actually I forgot 🤙🇨🇰🇳🇿🗿
Not sure what voltage your system is running at but if its 12V and your drawing 2000W then your pulling 166A if its a 48V system it would be 41A so it would be normal for your cables to get warm,. doubling the cables would split the amperage between the two so it should help. Fuses would be good to have in the system to prevent a meltdown if there's faulty parts (like the switch).
Jaguars and Pumas, but what about the Cougars? Im 50+ and looking for love!
If you have 300A cable and switches, you should probably have a 250A fuse inline with it so you have a known failure point before damage to the expensive switch or cable.
Switches and salt don’t get along in a wet environment and can result in a huge drop in amperage’s capacity.
I have to say. Daisy looks amazing in your latest f b post.
i'm going to miss watching kayla, shes so iconic and will be sad to no longer see her :(
