It's so refreshing to see instructional content aimed towards high intermediate to advanced riders. There are already tons of tutorials for beginners (at riding and at freestyle), so this is a niche that sorely needed to be filled. Also, a common theme I've noticed in a lot of your video analyses is that most problems are caused by a suboptimal stacked body position and switching edges too early. For years I thought that I sometimes just screwed up spins at random, but after filming myself, I realized that the "bad" attempts were caused by those two problems. This is what has kept me from taking spins to medium and larger jumps because I couldn't trust myself not to screw things up on a larger, more consequential feature. But now I have an understanding of what I need to work on and a clearer path towards my freestyle goals, instead of just hoping that I'll eventually stop sucking if I get enough reps.
I appreciate your analysis on riding and learning new tricks. I have been stuck at 540's for a long time. A lot of what you said are things I can work on. Cheers!
I don’t know what bindings he’s using, but I hope this is shade towards Clue bindings haha Please note This comment never happened if they offer me piles of cash😂
Super nice video I don’t do back 7 but very nice to know the early edge change can affect the spin because I have the same problem with back 5 and at 6:25 you said that your back leg is extend but how do get the pop and can I use this technique with front 3?
They have a TON of front and back 3 videos ran by both nev and Taevis, you could probably just scroll through their newest videos and find one not too far down the list.
I just started consistently getting my back 3s this year but these videos made me realize how little I’m opening up and that I’m looking over my shoulder and not under. It would be cool to see a video on backflips. Since I’ve been trying to land those this year
At least his CORK would look AWESOME on a bigger jump :P Actually crazy how much of a difference there were in your spins. Flat 3s and onwards is IMO, SUPER sexy on bigger jumps! But unfortunately, nowadays in competitions it's all about them triple and even quad corks :( I wish I had a cameraman back in my younger days when I was learning 3s and tried to learn 5s! I'm sure we all know when you're just out there, at least when you're not that good, it just feels like you're doing things correctly but I'm sure with a video analysis it would be way easier to spot the errors done. As always, interesting and good video!
It’s almost impossible to spot mistakes in yourself without video. I’m still finding mistakes I didn’t know about to this day haha Thanks for the support! More good stuff to come💪
Thank you for this! Watching your videos in preparation, coming to the candian rockies this year! Very informative this one, my favortie so far i think
I did not realize this was buckhouse! I can’t do 720’s let alone 360’s but I feel like the information given in this breakdown can help with any spin trick? Agree or disagree? I’m working on 180’s right now and I am definitely dipping the shoulder on back 1’s which is causing me to not land in a stacked position. I also feel like I’m on my edge too much during take off as opposed to waiting till the transition to switch edges. I’m really hoping to master these tricks by the end of this season but I’ve only got two weeks left. I’m loving these breakdowns taevis! I was weary about not seeing as much nev with the coaching but your explanations and experience are really top notch!
These tips should help with all spins!!! Every spin comes from the first place, some mistakes just aren’t as noticeable until you get to bigger tricks. Keep working on it and you will get there, if not this year then next!
I was never really into jumps or tricks, more into fresh pow and free riding, but I had to watch this video entirely. The level of details, information and quality is over the roof. Keep going on!
How's he stooping down to anyone's level? His job is to help people improve their riding, and he's doing just that. Literally says it at the end of every fucking video. Does it matter who it is? Jesus people gotta bring some salty drama to cry anywhere. Thanks for the vids, Taevis! Killing it as always!
This is an awesome guide! I do have 1 small suggestion which helped me a lot. Try to tail grab rather than stalefish / indy as I found that it allowed my body to naturally lean toward the direction of rotation. Also, this gives you a really good way of spotting as you simply need to look in the middle of the gap between your board and shoulder. Not to mention that tail grab bs7 look beautiful! 🤌

i think jonathan needs to replace his bindings for cleaner 7s😂😂😂

Wow, thanks!
Excellent instructional video!
I’m doing the same with my back 3’s… still holding the toes for 3seconds
It’s a super common mistake! Hopefully seeing it in this way helps you fix it:)

This is the most I've ever learned from a snowboard video. Thank you!
🙏🏻
Great to hear!
Right here is the difference between an actual pro snowboarder and then someone that claims they're a pro to gain youtube followers
nether of us are pros haha just 2 guys trying to improve their riding. And that’s what it’s all about!

Although I will never do a 720, your breakdown on Johnathan’s video was super interesting and informative. I am now subscribed to your channel
Awesome! Thank you!
Well done @Taevis-Kapalka you are absolutely a talent in explaining freestyle, it's so much easier to improve thanks to your videos!
Don’t stoop down to his level. Had a lot more respect for you.
????
I’ll work hard to earn it back! Not sure how I lost it tho, just doing what I always do haha
