    Great show JD and happy birthday JACKIE!
    This is not intended to be a flex but i hate the birthday attention so much that, for the last 5 years; i go hiking out of service all day.
    Great way to escape the attention.

    How could Bergeron not have regretted that decision!? Boston would have almost certainly advantaged past Florida had be been there. And the guy had to retire under those circumstances.

    Leafs have a chance to make some noise in the playoffs.
    Do not sleep on this team.
    Panthers are not THAT good.

    Matthews has a chance to set a record that will last for years for most goals in a season in the cap era and we’re talking about resting him a game? I find this talk ridiculous. He should keep scoring and set a mark that will be really hard for another player to beat in future years to have the mantle as best scorer. He should be going for 72+.
    He’s already resting in the games with less ice time. Play him 4th line minutes and he’ll still add to his goal total.

      Nobody will care how many goals Matthews gets if they lose first round. All it does is spark the "ghost" comments. Although he's never a "ghost", he's far from what he's been in the regular season which makes no sense. Despite morons saying playoffs are different, it's really not. It's like starting at game 1 against and playing the same team over and over. Keefe is what's screwing this team, overall. Why he plays the guys he does and when is completely beyond me. The last game, vs NJ, tied 5-5, late in the 3rd, on the PK, and you have Brodie AND Nylander out there? WTF did you think was going to happen? Neither is good on defense

      @@jeffreycairns767 setting the active player goal scoring record matters. Unless another player scores more it will always be compared to this Matthews year. Missing one game last year didn’t mean squat in the second round last season. One game in regular season has almost zero impact on the playoffs unless it is a significant injury.

      @disinformationworld9378 My point is, an individual accomplishment is garbage in a team sport. It means nothing to anyone but that player, unless they win the cup and that's not happening. As a Leafs fan myself, I couldn't imagine saying "well, we lost in the first round, but atleast Matthews got 70". He'll never reach guys like Gretzkys yearly total so who cares? Scoring 70 is a waste if he doesn't do it in the playoffs. Although Keefe is the biggest issue, overall, Matthews doesn't seem to care about the team winning, only about his own numbers. He's a typical American player. If he was on an American team, I'd bet anything that he'd have better numbers and play better then he does here.

    For all the kucherov 5v5 Slander he still has moe 5v5 points than Matthews. Youre essentially punishing him for producing on the pp in addition to being elite 5v5

    Domi is making people realize that Marner is overrated and it's Mattews who makes players better around him. If your a play maker and can feed the puck your going to have success. Mattews has similar numbers that Bergeron had when he won the Selke. Complete 200 foot player with 51 even strength goals. Going to win the rocket. Best defensive forward, best offensive player equals MVP. Honestly in that scenario how can he not be?

    Marner has never been a playoff success. He just smiles while Marchand washes his face with Marchand’s glove. Matthews is more popular than you think. Maybe consider Marner about like ability?
    For Marner’s sake - he deserves a new chance and a trade to Vegas or Florida or Dallas for him.

    • @jeffreycairns767
      @jeffreycairns767 Місяць тому +1

      Not a chance. Marner is, by far, our best overall player. He also lead the team in goals and points in the playoffs last year. Matthews doesn't get 40 without Marner, guaranteed. Even recently back from injury, he's still setting guys up, no matter who he plays with and he helps on defense. Guys like Nylander don't. I wish they had have traded Nylander when they had the chance.

      @@jeffreycairns767 So why does the Leaf Core 4 playoff disappoint every spring? What attributes do the Core 4 lack to win - as they are the common denominator of playoff disappointments?
      Do you at least agree that - Marner (as your best Leaf player) standing still smiling while Marchand washes Marner’s face in the playoffs - hurts the Leafs leadership? They are the same size.

    • @jeffreycairns767
      @jeffreycairns767 Місяць тому +1

      @jimlangdon1947 It looks bad, I agree, but it's actually Keefes rule that they don't fight. They have players for that and risking an injury, especially against a cheap shot artist like Marchand, an injury is very possible. Injuries can happen out of nowhere, why do something deliberately where an injury is likely? Do you really think that the core 4 rarely hit or fight because they're scared or just don't want to? Watch Marner or Matthews pre NHL. Matthews has laid a few decent hits in the NHL but Keefe despises it. That's why Bunting was on their line last year and Domi now.

    • @jimlangdon1947
      @jimlangdon1947 Місяць тому +1

      @@jeffreycairns767 Yes - Marner looks afraid and doesn’t look comfortable with playoff officiating. I think he should take up lacrosse
      Why isn’t Marner (your top Leaf) player ever used at centre? It would be interesting to see if a Zack (like player) could get 30 to 40 goals playing with Marner at centre.
      A Leaf fan told me Matthews fought Stamkos in the first round last year. If true - it likely didn’t hurt.
      My view is the Leafs Core 4 are nice guys - but they are the wrong mix (lack attributes) for Leaf Playoff successes. I hope to see JT, Nylander and Marner just play as one line together this spring. Maybe as a group they can learn to thrive with playoff officiating.
      Thanks for your views. Of course they differ from mine.😀

      @jimlangdon1947 I guess my views would differ from yours when you're a hater. I've seen you in many Leafs threads hating. Time to grow up, don't you think? Hating on anybody is just pathetic. They'll always be more successful then you could ever wish to be. Not a good reason to hate. Oh, and Matthews got jumped in the playoffs, by Stamkos.

      Hard to say, about Domi, but Keefe is an awful coach and will screw them once again. Defense is the main issue yet Keefe continuely puts the worst defensive players out at the worst possible times. Brodie, Reilly and Nylander have no business EVER being on a PK, especially towards the end of the game, yet Keefe always has atleast 1 of them out there but often more then 1. How Keefe still has a job is beyond me

      @jeffreycairns767 He jumped a bon fighter, fam. That was a perfect opportunity for Matthews to defend himself if he felt the need. I've seen Gretzky, Lemieux, and Crosby drop the gloves and stand up for themselves. That was unnecessary and gratuitous. St8 facts, no hate!

    • @jeffreycairns767
      @jeffreycairns767 Місяць тому

      @emmettebramble10 All Domi was doing was showing that he'll stand up for anyone of his teammates. I guarantee he didn't look and think "he's not a fighter, I'll jump him".
