    What Are Algae?
    www.livescience.com/54979-what...
"Algae are a diverse group of aquatic organisms that have the ability to conduct photosynthesis. Certain algae are familiar to most people; for instance, seaweeds (such as kelp or phytoplankton), pond scum or the algal blooms in lakes. However, there exists a vast and varied world of algae that are not only helpful to us, but are critical to our existence."

"Algae biofuels may provide a viable alternative to fossil fuels; however, this technology must overcome a number of hurdles before it can compete in the fuel market and be broadly deployed."
    Biofuels: The Original Car Fuel

"Biofuels have been around as long as cars have. At the start of the 20th century, Henry Ford planned to fuel his Model Ts with ethanol, and early diesel engines were shown to run on peanut oil."

If algae fuel replaced all the petroleum fuel in the United States, it would require 15,000 square miles (39,000 km2), which is only 0.42% of the U.S. map. -Wikipedia

It does make you wonder. Why don't we just do it? go balls deep with renewable energy and leave fossil fuels behind. But greed knows no limits, even if that means the certain demise of our planet. Its a shame.

I would put algae in my tank at $2.00/gal with the expectancy that it would drop to under $1.00/gal in the next 3 years.

As soon as oil is more expensive than algae that's when companies will make the switch

And the other problem with ethanol as a fuel is people drinking it since ethanol is the alcohol we all know and love.

Why aren't we doing this on a larger scale?

If it makes my car go and doesn't break anything I will put it in my fuel tank. I even like that it might be algae fuel. I'll use the hell out of that.

Thanks for sharing this amazing video when it is clarified the properties and benefits of algae. It even seems to be a productive solution very soon for problems such as global climate and lack of artificial resources. Here algae arise as a natural component capable of giving oil, food, and ultimately, and most importantly, renewable energy.

Thanks, I would love to see this as the way forward with energy production. Lots of carbon neutral fuel and I get to keep running my car with a proper engine!

So many different techs. There's also algae hydrolysis where you heat up algae and water in a pressure vessel. The product is called Green crude and is chemically similar to petrol crude.

I take Chlorella and Spirulina tablets. After a cousin of mine told my family about them, I was instantly hooked on what lil ol' algae could do.

i can only imagine the performance gains could be in an automotive 4 stroke engine with further development of the algae fuels. even e85, although being less potent, if enough is delivered to the engine performance can be increased significantly
