This album went as hard as it did because they scored Jason Richardson for the lead guitar. Then after touring with the band for a little while and seeing all the substance abuse going on he started speaking up about it which led to the rest of the group firing him 🤦♂️ Worst mistake they ever made. It’s never been the same ever since this album. “Devastate” off this album is incredible if you get the time to come back to it. Thanks for sharing Jeebz
That whole situation with this album was a complete shit show. Besides the substance abuse, another "reason" for them to fire him was due to his wish for the band to practise more lol. Jason even shared on his instagram when he finally received payment from Sumerian Records for working on this record, which was years after the release and included him taking legal actions against them. This and the fact that most of the big names in prog metalcore left sumerian rather quickly tells me everything I need to know about this label.
Good thing the original New Reign wipes its ass with this version of the album. Yes all the chug chug wee wee weedly doos are impressive if you don't know about flash over substance, but the original songwriting and approach of their debut was something unique and refreshing, despite the rough edges. Pure creativity that was strangled to death during the "modern production" processes of its future incarnations.
@@HardcoriusRead the same, I saw before Jason commenting small bits of shades about other bandmates drug and alcohol abuse. Jason just wanted them to practice hard. Also, somebody said that he cried so hard about it, he told his father about his bandmates' ethics and abuse, and then he left. The man just wanted to get serious, passionate without distractions and look what he got him right now. He might be one of the multimillion asset of Ernieball Musicman because of his dedication to craft.
They have always been amazing, The Discovery is one of their best albums! Drummer and guitar players sync up with the crazy rhythms so well, one of the best of the Sumeriancore bands that kept evolving and producing quality music.
Born of osiris is so incredible live too. The instrumentals and vocals hit so much harder live. They consistently put out incredible abstract unique music.
As someone who is probably the biggest discovery fan/nerd around here, id highly recommend checking out cameron loschs new interview he did where he shed alot of light on the discovery. Turns out him and lee wrote damn near the whole album and jason obviously did XIV/Behold and Devasate. Was super cool to learn that.
last straw, shaping the masterpiece, and automatic motion are all up there as my favorite along with the three you mentioned. Wish they didn't go to poop ;(
If you haven’t already, look up Cameron Losch’s side project called Unsolicited. He’s the drummer of BOO and there are no vocals. He does all the instruments himself, a true 1-man band. Suggested song is called Disimulo, you won’t be disappointed.
Hey Geebs... It's the Jason Richardson and Luke Holland dude again.... Jason Richardson used to be in this band... Still wand to see you react to Jason Richardson and Luke Holland - Ho's Down
I used to love The Illusionist by them, but their newer stuff is simply amazing in my op. Shadowmorne with that sax and Poster Child are so great. Still love the illusionist tho
Check out Lee McKinney’s solo work. I believe he is the lead guitarist of BOO but he also has two awesome solo albums out. I’d recommend “A Clock without a Craftsman”
if you think keyboard players cant get crazy live you should see the guys from foxy shazam, emery, and sky eats airplane live. ive seen them all live and they were always the craziest on stage. the dude from foxy used to go nuts, the guy from emery would jump over the keyboard and start playing electric drums.
Hey my man, could you do a reaction on Architects - Colony Collapse Its my favorite song by that band its just so touching and i know you wont be disappointed. Cheers!
Band is Born of Osiris, BOO for short. This era had two guitar players and one of them was Jason Richardson. Pretty sure you’ve reacted to his stuff before, at least I think so.
These guys will always be special. Their ability to blend beautiful melodies and crunchy rythms has me in all sorts. Check the takeover from the breakdown to the end 🤌
Born of Osiris is a favorite newer band because of their use of melodies and synths with a blend of high and low power vocals. Great stuff, but do note that there was a lineup change, so there is a bit of a difference in their old and new material. Old stuff was 70% djent/30% melody. New stuff goes a little more 50/50. I still love the 1st albums, but the new stuff is excellent.
Anytime an older BoO song gets suggested, the legions of Jason Richardson fans crawl out to say this was their best album and they aren't the same without him. The album is phenomenal and Jason is incredibly talented, but they have a fantastic lineup currently and still have made awesome albums since this one, with plenty of interesting melodies and lead ideas. Jason is a bit of a snob honestly, which makes me not casually listen to him, whereas I listen to BoO all the time.
Yeah they have a keyboardist unless you go see them live. I’ve been to see them twice. First time (about ten years ago) their van broke down and they didn’t show up. Had to watch impending gay ass doom instead. Then went to see them this summer and the keys/vocals dude didn’t play with them. Their albums before picking up the new singer and before losing Jason Richardson were far superior imho
The Lee McKinney, Jason Richardson combo on this album absolutely melted everyone’s face!
The Discovery is still one of the best albums of the genre ever, bar none!

Heard the same thing back in the days as well

This Born of Osiris album in particular is standout to me. "The discovery" has a few hundred plays for me ^_^. Very solid arrangements throughout.
The New Reign is the same style but better front to back.
@@derpderpin1568 the new reign is great but slightly dated imo. the discovery was a much more mature album

Whoever suggested this for a video, shout out!!! One of my long time favorite tracks
Never see reactions for Born of Osiris. Nice react! Thanks Geebz
This album was the peak. I remember when I was a broke college student and bought their next album when it came out. I wanted my fucking money back
This whole album is incredible.
This is a core album, and I love that you reacted to it. I love you're reactions.
This whole album is so unique. Among my all time favourites overall.
hope you get around to doing some vildhjarta sometime, they have been cooking recently and it's an absolute banger
Actually, have one set for next week :)
@@KeyOfGeebzdagger and traces are my two favorite vildhjarta songs!
@@KeyOfGeebz you're awesome dude, looking forward to it!
Love the speed metal sound 🤘

Thank you Geebz
Hell yeah. Recreate is probably my favorite song they've ever made. Contested by Behold and Regenerate on the same album.
last straw, shaping the masterpiece, and automatic motion are all up there as my favorite along with the three you mentioned. Wish they didn't go to poop ;(
id loooove follow the signs on here.
''Djent'' used to be so good back then
I listened to pretty much nothing but this song for a month straight when I found it. It's that good.
Can you give it a try to The Dali Thundering Concept? Any song from Savages album will be lit! Love your reactions!
One of the most underrated bands. The Sea Starts Here and Burdened by the Hand are great as well, but they really don't miss.

can you explore Diablo Swing Orchestra?
If you will check something from their other albums, i would recommend you "Absolution", such a beautiful song (still heavy though 😂)
Check out Lee McKinney’s solo work. I believe he is the lead guitarist of BOO but he also has two awesome solo albums out. I’d recommend “A Clock without a Craftsman”
Lee Mckinney is great but Jason Richardson is what made this album magic.
Geebz may I recommend “ born in space” by Owane.. you’ll love it. Great vid and I’ll always be a supporter here 👊🏻🤙🏻
Do those new Vildhjarta songs! PLEASE

Time to do new Crosses. (And blink)

They crashed out after they kicked Jason out. Lee is amazing but the combo on this album is just the height of BOO. Never should have let Jason go.
This was their best work but a higher place and new reign were great albums too. The album after the discovery was okay but they went downhill

Saw them back when Matt Pantelis was the second guitarist. and that shit wipes the floor with this "whoa! look at what my fingies can do!" Garbage.

Joe Buras (keys/vocals) has always been with them. He just must not have been able to perform at the show you went to.
@@shmyfe that’s what I said…plus at the last show veil of Maya didn’t have a singer either so it sucked doubly.
