Presidential historian Timothy Naftali talks to Walter Isaacson about the events of this weekend and what they say about American politics today.

I think so. Trump read and exploited the anger and disquiet many Americans felt and still do. The likes of Rush Limbaugh and Fox news are also complicit. And then many in both houses of congress and beyond. It is like a contagious disease. But as I have been saying since the Trump era began, he lifted the rock and set the worst of us loose. I feel so powerless over what's tearing us apart. But am involved and am excited to vote as soon as my ballot arrives. I am scared yet hopeful and taking a little action most days helps me to get through.
