Johnny: Namor sent us tickets for The Shape of Water. Sue: How sweet. Ben: Ain't that the one where some chick gets some lovin' from a fish man? Reed: *N A M O R !*
Great book and a great episode! The passionate discussion about the ethics of Dr. Doom ruling is a conversation I've had with friends as well so it's cool you guys took the philosophical points seriously. Keenan did a fantastic job, I'm sure the first time doing something like this is nerve wracking (trying not to make weird faces, not stuttering, and of course bring up important subjects) so hats off to you dude for putting yourself out there especially at the end. Keep up the good work dudes :)
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes did a similar story. Purple Man used his power on Tony Stark, and Stark became Emperor of the world. Vision woke up after a month long reboot, and freed everyone.
ROFL these 2 episodes with old friends have been cool. Yet another entertaining perspective with a dash of humour. Sal, I salute you for your genius in creating these shows and Ben, Ethan & Tiffany give it an extra helping of excellence..!!
So this is the Universe where Sal became Dr.Doom because Ethan wasn't there to use scientific logic to control Sal's rage and tired, wearied, jadedness of Marvel and DC comics bullshit.
This story started to sound very familiar even though I know I've never read it. It was an episode of Avengers EMH! Except just purple man and vision instead of wonder man
Alright so Sal's got the Doom cape, Tiff's got the Strange cape. What capes do we give Ethan and Ben? Also Keenan kinda looks like an Earth 2 version of ComicDrake
Super fun episode! Ben’s always great but the addition of your new friend was awesome he was entertaining and he’d be fun to join again sometime! Great episode as always

This sounds loosely like the premise of an episode of Earths Mightiest Heroes, Emperor Stark. Vision is put away for a bit for repairs and comes back and everyone is under control of Purple Man.
There is a legitimate rivalry aspect between Simon Williams and Tony Stark beyond just a super-hero rivalry. It goes back (deep lore) to both being rival industrialists, and maybe Tony was smarter/more inovative. and then Simon's brother Eric, later the Grim Reaper, engaging in capitalist espionage and stealing tech secrets, and Simon taking the fall. Then we find out Simon did it. This fall somehow leads to the Baron Zemo treatments that make Simon into Wonder Man, and concurrently Tony's life has led him to be Iron Man. And then it's retro-swapped back to Eric, the Grim Reaper, really *did* do the crimes/sabotage. And..Well, it's one of those things that goes back and forth depending on Author and how they want to spin Wonder Man, more tragic? More victim? More heroic? I don't even know the current canon, but there's some jacked-up history between Tony and Simon way back to before either were heroes, and before Simon was an Actor. It's not worth knowing, and stupid, but that explains some of that relationship in this graphic. It was written out in early issues of WEST COAST AVENGERS, and has Simon spilling his guts on Johnny Carson (No, not Letterman.). It was running in the monthlies at the time this came out. That's just an explantion for some weird shit about confidence and rivalry/trust in this.
Great episode guys, definitely bring your friend back on another episode. I liked his view that Doom was the good guy and Wonder Man is the real villain
FifthHorseman23 - I agree. This is one of my favorite Avengers stories. There’s some very thought provoking material in this book. It’s a very underrated story and I don’t think it’s been reprinted.
I like Sal bringing more elements and entities from his past, And there will come a time where Carol, Aaron, and/or Sam would sit on the couch with you guys.
I think the moral of the book is that humanity should improve on it's own, not be forced to through mind control. It's not improvement if you're not doing it of your own free will. Humanity hasn't gotten better, they've just been browbeat into behaving.
I think the point is if humanity had 30 years of Doom rule, where he just fixed everything and stopped war. You would imagine the next generation would not have the inclination to fight one another unless Doom got bored and decided to conquer the universe.
Hey Keenan! Welcome to the Population. It's cool to have you on the show. (Pssst Sal... Is this Santa? We're gonna figure this out if it kills us.) P.S. That green screen effect is really really smooth.
5:05 in 616- but they did make a what if (what if the other) where Peter who had fully bonded with the symbiote DID uses the carnage symbiote to revive Gwen Stacy and make her into a carnage human hybrid to explicitly mate with.... Yep its gross
we need this guy on again, or atleast slightly more chaotic people who find ben really funny, this is a standout video to me just because the vibe is a little lighter
@@comicpop not that your usual videos are dark, the opposite of that if anything this is just such a silly fun episode and I love it, from someone who watches these videos Everytime they paint (daily) this one just means a lot to me
Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the cartoon, has an episode based on this comic where Purple Man/Tony Stark takes over the world, and Vision is the one who is immune (because there's no invention present to control him). Kinda ironic considering he's stuck dancing in the original.
Yeeees! I love crappy Avengers episodes! Look at this team! These were my Avengers when I was a kid! Namor!? Mockingbird!? Tigra!? Just clicked so here we go!
I like Michelinie and with Layton they're easily the most important Iron Man scribes but I disagree with him completely on War Machine. It seems to me based on things they've said that Michelinie really hated Kaminski's run and Layton seemed to dig it.
Are we sure Ken and Ben are who they say they are they're all wearing the same shirt as Sal what if they're all different versions of Sal but disguised since they just had a council of Crivelli meeting
Question; how does anybody still claim Doctor Doom's motives aren't selfish when this comic pretty well spelled that they are a hundred percent selfish. His claims of wanting conquest for the sake of the world are like Walter White saying he's dealing drugs for the sake of his family; it's a lie to convince himself his intentions aren't selfish.
Johnny: Namor sent us tickets for The Shape of Water.
Sue: How sweet.
Ben: Ain't that the one where some chick gets some lovin' from a fish man?
Reed: *N A M O R !*
I love how Sal and Ben revert back to children whenever Keenan says he hasn't seen something. "WHAT!?!? THAT SHOW IS AWESOME!" Lol
Keenan will always be remembered for “Fetus Venom”
Oh sure, when Tygra goes around fighting in a bathing suit it’s ridiculous. But when Beast does it no one bats an eye.
Or Namor with his speedo... he doesn't even have fur.
I never thought about it before but yeah, Tygra and Beast have a lot in common as far as like abilities go.
Beast is advertising for his male erotic dancer service. For 40 dollars he'll work it left-cheek right-cheek for you.
That cloak IS the best cloak, because not only is it a Doctor Doom cloak, but it also doubles as the Cloak of Invisibility!
Doom does not OWN Latveria.. he IS LATVERIA! Long Live Doom!
SomeFriendlessBastard just like Evita
Long live doom! Icon of latveria, inevitable king of the universe, and master of the stick shift.
Great book and a great episode! Come for Dr. Doom ruling the world. Stay for the philosophical intricacies of free will and the nature of good and evil.
Classic Back Issues
When you hit 100k subs I expect to see the gang wrap Sal in foil and make a Tin Foil Doom!
Keenan looks like a combination of Seth Rogen, and Rainn Wilson.
One of the most over-looked/ greatest Doctor Doom
stories ever told.
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes did a similar story. Purple Man used his power on Tony Stark, and Stark became Emperor of the world. Vision woke up after a month long reboot, and freed everyone.
This is really good. The paper quality and😊 printing in these old graphic novels made them a premium purchase.
ROFL these 2 episodes with old friends have been cool.

Good eye! I'd counter that Keenan kinda looks like the Amalgam version of Comic Drake and Ethan.
_Thank Christ Tigra was there._
You!

Super fun episode! Ben’s always great but the addition of your new friend was awesome he was entertaining and he’d be fun to join again sometime! Great episode as always
technically you could use it for cosplay now because of Infamous Iron Man just stick your iron man helmet behind you on then put the hood up.
So this is where emperor Stark from Earths Mightiest Heroes come from.
Always nice to see Doom
Sal, you make me want to see Dr. Doom in a button up T-shirt. Metal armor and everything, just also semi-formal wear as well

There are several D's that Comicpop needs more of. Two of those are Dredd... and Doom!
This comment could either be a friendly suggestion of a serious threat

Good job Keenan! Another stellar episode ComicPOP.
Great episode guys, definitely bring your friend back on another episode. I liked his view that Doom was the good guy and Wonder Man is the real villain
"His power is his weapon." I love you Sal. XD
This book inspired some very interesting ideological debate and I really enjoyed that. Nice work on this episode guys.
FifthHorseman23 - I agree. This is one of my favorite Avengers stories. There’s some very thought provoking material in this book. It’s a very underrated story and I don’t think it’s been reprinted.
I’m pretty sure Ant-Man was a founding member of the avengers along with Wasp, hulk, Thor, and Iron-Man
Pretty sure Ant-Man was Scott Lang at this time. Hank Pym founded the Avengers. I'm not sure which of his various identities he was at this time.
Emperor Sal Von Doom
I love the larger size of the old Marvel Graphic Novels. There’s several really awesome stories from that series.
Doom would not die. Obviously Doom would also eventually solve the "death problem"!
All hail Emperor doom!
Come for the comic analysis. Stay for the philosophical debate about the nature of good.
I like Sal bringing more elements and entities from his past,
And there will come a time where Carol, Aaron, and/or Sam would sit on the couch with you guys.
Less than 10 minutes in and I'm already loving this episode, you guys are too funny
Earth 47 Back Issue hosted by God King Sal
I think the moral of the book is that humanity should improve on it's own, not be forced to through mind control.
It's not improvement if you're not doing it of your own free will. Humanity hasn't gotten better, they've just been browbeat into behaving.
I really like this guy! Please bring him on the show more!
“Netflix is like 5$ a month” if you only knew what was to come lmao
I think the point is if humanity had 30 years of Doom rule, where he just fixed everything and stopped war. You would imagine the next generation would not have the inclination to fight one another unless Doom got bored and decided to conquer the universe.
They all called each other and where like.....flannels? Sal:hell yes flannels
Hey Keenan! Welcome to the Population. It's cool to have you on the show.
(Pssst Sal... Is this Santa? We're gonna figure this out if it kills us.)
P.S. That green screen effect is really really smooth.
FifthHorseman23 Keenan is not Santa!
TheRealZubes Foiled again!
That was fun. I love when they have an old friend on as a guest.
No shoutout to Sal's parents for being the original guest stars of Back Issues?
(Not including the members of the Weekly Pull)
So was Reagan under Doom's control when he ordered Superman to bring down Batman? That would actually make all sorts of sense...
Flannel Squad on point!
Dammit this channel is classic 😂
Fun fact, Soule used Doom's Purple man machine to make people forget Matt was Daredevil, it's a pretty awesome use of continuity imo.
All hope lies with Sal.
"You've got to stop this! I LOVE YOU CAPTAIN AMERICA!"
5:05 in 616- but they did make a what if (what if the other) where Peter who had fully bonded with the symbiote DID uses the carnage symbiote to revive Gwen Stacy and make her into a carnage human hybrid to explicitly mate with.... Yep its gross
Ugh I remember that.
Wish we could see Ethan, Sal, Ben, Keenan and Jason all together
All Hail Doom
Reed Only bangs for procreation since he already made god theres no need for further banging
Keenan?! Cool, hooray for more guests!
y'all forgot baron blood
we need this guy on again, or atleast slightly more chaotic people who find ben really funny, this is a standout video to me just because the vibe is a little lighter
Lighter?
@@comicpop not that your usual videos are dark, the opposite of that if anything this is just such a silly fun episode and I love it, from someone who watches these videos Everytime they paint (daily) this one just means a lot to me
I wanna see Keenan again on back issues. He seems cool.
Sal's magic trick at 20:30
Ethan looks different today.
Can we get a episode with keenan and Ethan??!!!
25:33 Vision moves to an uptight religious town to gift the residents with the power of dance. Movie title: Screwloose.
All hail the Emperor!
So this is where Chip might have gotten the idea for using Purple man in Devils Reign
I for one welcome our supreme overlord Dr.Doom
Awe snapppp! Guest person guy thing!
Great conversation...Did you all plan to wear plaid?
Anyone else still too shook after Infinity War to comprehend anything else Marvel? Just me? Ok I'll lay shooketh in a corner
Steven Ford Did you see Infinity War?
Steven Ford I think he said that because one of his favorite characters died, I know I kinda am especially since my favorite hero died
"I don't want to go."
No because the films are not related to the books in any way. And should never be compared in my opinion.
RedLightning17 not that shook i expected what happened in that movie
in tigra's defense namor is walking around in a speedo and nothing else so ... lol
some piece of doom imprinted on us
Did you guys plan to wear similar button ups or was it an accident?
Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the cartoon, has an episode based on this comic where Purple Man/Tony Stark takes over the world, and Vision is the one who is immune (because there's no invention present to control him). Kinda ironic considering he's stuck dancing in the original.
lmao 9:02-9:04 comicpop hall of fame moment
2:10 OMG, you guys found a cloak of invisibility! Now you only need the stone and elder wand and you will conquer death!
Can you do Marvel 1602 back up issues?
Keenan's awesome. Will he return to Back Issues?
Great show
Yeeees! I love crappy Avengers episodes! Look at this team! These were my Avengers when I was a kid! Namor!? Mockingbird!? Tigra!? Just clicked so here we go!
Sal is a cape is just the best!!!
I can tell this episode is just going to be a bunch of classic comic book schlock.
It's Over 9000 Productions Yes and to quote Bobby Roode it’s glorious :)
Cool story. Now how long until you do Hickman's secret wars?
I always wondered what would happen if purple man is blocked by language barriers.
I like Michelinie and with Layton they're easily the most important Iron Man scribes but I disagree with him completely on War Machine. It seems to me based on things they've said that Michelinie really hated Kaminski's run and Layton seemed to dig it.
A "reverse hollow man" sounds extremely dirty. 😊
I might have missed it, but did they coordinate their shirts for a reason?
I see it was plaid shirt/hoodie(?) day at Comic Pop
Sal hopefully you see this but why is every back issues from final crisis to guardians of the galaxy age restricted
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD PICK BOI. I totally forgot about this Graphic Novel.
Keenan should be on more episodes and live shows!
Are we sure Ken and Ben are who they say they are they're all wearing the same shirt as Sal what if they're all different versions of Sal but disguised since they just had a council of Crivelli meeting
You can buy the bluray of Netflix shows.
I hate it when great writers get screwed over.
Ethan looks weird this episode🤔

Does in this universe exists "Getting physical with Keenan!!!!!"
I thought both Ant-man and Wasp were founding members of the Avengers.
