It's what sells them to bite right at the last minute. They hear it first. They track it and once they get close enough to see it they make a split decision eat or pass. Even in dirty water they will see it 2in away and that will be the make or break moment
This is sort of unrelated but what dye do you use for plastics? I was going to get some JJ’s magic but I don’t like that it can’t handle heat in case it’s in my car. Is Spike It safe around some heat?
Yeah I like the spike it Pens or zoom makes some good ones too. Plus no chance of spilling in the car, boat, or house and smelling it forever. Now on some things like swimbaits I like to use good ole sharpies
I never throw a spinner even though I have a good collection of every combination but headed to Lake Cumberland next weekend and may break some out , ever try Lil Hustler spinnerbaits? made in the town I live in , Crossville Tn
Great job Hank, blade color can make all the difference in getting bites for sure. I like how you said something about night fishing bc you know we have those discussions and I would've said something 😂...hey all good points brother so good job.
I know you talked alot about small mouth but what about large mouth. Recently caught 2 on a booyah 4 blade in clear, sunny day with 4 to 5 ft of visibility 👍🏻
Really good starting point with blade colors and I agree with most of what you said. I almost always prefer a willow primary/Colorado secondary blade. Gold willow/chartreuse Colorado has always been money for me when the bass are feeding on 'gills. Smallmouth hate chartreuse it's true, but they hate it even more when the secondary blade is orange. I could go on for hours about blade colors and sizes, skirt colors, even head shapes etc. Shallow or deep there is always at least 1 spinnerbait rig on deck. Always
OK I have a question. In your opinion what dictates the weight of the blades? I get the colors and the sizes but no one talks about the weights. I have some willow blades that are thick and heavy. Probably 3 times as heavy as your equivalent size in a standard Hildebrandt. Even when shopping for blades to buy I don't even see mention of weight. 🤷♂️
Yeah that’s just a manufacturing thing. Most of the time you’ll find thicker blades will not turn at slower rates but will hold shape at higher speeds and give a touch more thump. However The amount of thump lost is so tiny I prefers a thinner blade most times
Damn that was a ton to take in, but definitely tried to absorb as much as possible like a sponge. The chartreuse blades I had no idea about that with smallmouth!!! I’ll have to change up my Triple Threat blades here and there. As always stay safe, tight lines and stick your PB!!
I haven't even watched this yet and I already hit the like button because I've been thinking about this for weeks! I want to be prepared for bass season when it opens at the end of June and pike season when it opens in a few weeks!
Best video on blade color
Thank you!
Thanks for the info Hank. Spinner bait blade colors definitely make a difference. 👍🎣

Great insight BG. Thank you
Nope thank you!
I like a small colorado clevis in orange for overcast days in stained water. Seems to be the best for me.
That's good in the spring.
Awesome video, and great tips! Hopefully they will help me out!
I hope it helps thank you for watching
Have you tried blue blades with gold or chartreuse in bluegill waters?
Never tried a full blue I have used blue flake on it with a chartreuse

Do you ever throw copper blades and when
In a strictly color discussion gold and copper are the same to me. I use those on cloudy days and around blue gill feeders
Great informative video ! Thanks for the tips
Thanks for watching
Great video
Thanks
Spinnerbaits🙌🏻
Man we need to catch up bro.
@@BassGeek call me, I’m just putting hardware on some lures. I’m available
Love this topic~
Thanks very much.
Love spinnerbaits but I still prefer a chatter bait with a good swim bait trailer. #favoriteyoutuber
Mostly wood around here that’s not chatter bait love lol
@@BassGeek true for here at Cumberland as well. Dale Hollow has grass though. And a few ponds .
The primary reason I tie on a spinnerbait is WIND. When wind creates chop, you can bet I'll have a spinnerbait on the deck, close at hand!
Yes sir! Wood cover is a great second for me
Absolutely! I just don't see nearly as much of that, as I am sure that you do.
I'm telling you, those kryptonite blades totally kill those super smallmouths
Lol yup
I never throw a spinner even though I have a good collection of every combination but headed to Lake Cumberland next weekend and may break some out , ever try Lil Hustler spinnerbaits? made in the town I live in , Crossville Tn
ill be at Lake Cumberland myself next week good luck i have a pink spinnerbait im gonna throw there, had a tip to throw it
Those spots and smallmouth love pink
I have not tossed them but if ya got wind on Cumberland you better toss’em

hahahaha yup for sure.

The only thing when it comes to small out and spinners in this was the chartreuse blade the rest really are for targeting any fish large small or spot

Also Bassgeek and im sure u already know.. Red blades on a Red spinnerbait is fire this time of year.
Yeah I wanted to talk about the red in early spring and orange but I just wanted to keep it to the over all common colors
Great master..👍👍
