I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. It's Ringo's song, through and through ... probably his best Beatles composition in my opinion. You've got some delicious treats on your way to the end of this great album. 😊
1968, The Beatles were recording the White Album, and Ringo Starr got frustrated and quit the group. He went away to Albufeira. While eating at a seafood restaurant, The "captain" or owner of the place was telling Ringo about how octopi will collect little shiny objects and place them around the entry of their little cave. Ringo, imbibing on the local cannabis, thought this was the most fascinating thing ever, so he wrote this song about it.
Fun Fact: In the 3 part film Get Back that came out pretty recently, there is a short part where we see George helping Ringo write this song. You can find the clip on youtube
there's a scene in the film "let it be" where george is helping ringo write this song. john walks in and starts playing the drums. when paul walks in the session breaks down. but its a great segment. there's also a scene of the beatles rehearsing "maxwerll's silver hammer." some don't like that song but i think its cool. a song about a seriel killer is quite unique. its like "abby road's" novelty song. thanks for the video.
@ItsPrincess- Abbey Road is probaly my fav Beatles album. It's mostly all Paul McCartney singing and writing all the songs on this album. You are correct about Octupos Garden. This one is Ringo singing lead and he also wrote this one to.
Abbey Road always sounded like the Beatles going, we're out, we’re not feeling it anymore, but if you forgot how great we are, well just listen to this!
Its one of Ringo's classics from Abby Road its a good song I think kids like to sing this one and Yellow Submarine another Ringo classic. And Maxwell well don't feel too bad about that one its Paul working to death over this song and the other 3 hated it
The Beatles are timeless and so very talented
She's reacted to many Beatles songs already .
It is deep! It’s at the bottom of the sea!
The sentiments are deep also. Lovely reaction!
Beautiful harmonies ❤

I'd never heard this story in so much detail. Very cool! 😁

John’s harmony really sells the quality of it and George plays some good lead parts to aid John’s rhythm
Great tune
I love this song, it's just pure escapism

Here, There, and Everywhere is a great Beatles one to react to.
Three things. The Beatles had a sense of humor & fun, they were never afraid to take on a new genres & they knew the vocal limits of Ringo.
I think it was a throw away song about getting away from it all, and wound up becoming a hit. Proof the lads could nearly do do wrong.
In the Get Back film by Peter Jackson there is a point where George Harrison is helping Ringo with this song.
Can also recommend the octopus's garden music animated video from the Beatles cartoon movie Yellow Submarine. It is a funny Cartoon movie.

A very happy-go-lucky song with a catchy melody. It contrasts well with the other songs on the album.
You might want to try something from one of the Beatles first 3 albums.
