True. 0600 hours, go out on patrol with the squad. Ten minutes later, the comms start relaying weird chanting. Then your shadow comes to life and rips you to pieces.
And that's what a Guardsman would consider "Tuesday".

Can some explain to me what issues did Horus have exactly with Big E, considering he was the Emps favourite son? Mortarion, Perturabo, Angron, Lorgar and Konrad I can understand. But what issue did Horus have prior to being corrupted? Angry that the Emperor halted The Big Crusade?

@@bogdangabrielonete3467 It all started when the Emperor decided to name Horus as Imperial Warmaster (=Chief of Staff), and left the Great Crusade to go back on Holy Terra without sharing his motives. He wanted to work on a system allowing his fleat to cross the galaxy in a much safer way than going through the Warp. As he kept it secret, to prevent attempts from his greatest ennemies, the Chaos Gods, to ruins his plans, a lot of people in his armies, even among his sons, the primarchs, felt abandonned, and their trust was shaken.
During a battle against a demon armed with a really powerfull demonic blade, Horus was fatally wounded. Then, one higher officer under Horus command, claimed he had a way to heal him through some sacred ritual. Despite some of his close commanders having suspiscions about that officer and advised him not to do it, Horus accepted.
Of course, that man was a heretic serving the Chaos Gods. Through the ritual, Horus's mind was projected through the Warp, where the Chaos Gods twisted his mind.
Claiming the Emperor made a deal with them to borrow their power to lead humanity, in their name, to a great destiny. But, allegedly, the Emperor deceived them and kept their powers.
One of the other primarchs, Magnus, head of the Thousands Sons and most powerfull psycher among the Emperor's sons, projected his spirit to reach his brother's mind and talk him out of it, but Horus didn't listened, and when he came back to his senses, completly healed, he was changed. Feeling betrayed and humiliated, he started planning his "coup" to free humanity from the man he thought was protecting and leading it. Not realizing that he had become a puppet of the Dark Gods.
This was really summerized. if you want to have more details, look for Lorgar, Kor Phaeron, Erebus. You can also look for Magnus since what happened to him was really tragic, he's the archetype of the good guy who has the best intentions, but makes the wrong choices and ends up being consumed, in a last ditch attempt to protect his own.
And, you know, basically any lore available about 40k x)

Space Marine armor has extensive recycling systems within it, allowing the battle brother to remain active for several weeks or even months without nutriant resupply or "sleep" even. Sleep meaning "I close my eyes for 15 minutes and am ready to go for the next week or two" and that is not a joke.

    • @sciarpecyril
      @sciarpecyril 2 роки тому +86

Space Marines still need at least an hour of sleep per day, preferably more. But they are able to stay awake for many days, deliberately turning off some parts of the brain and thereby providing themselves with some rest. However, this is not a substitute for a good night's sleep.
I will also add that the Militarum Tempestus Scions are also capable of not sleeping for about two or three days in a row, remaining fully combat-ready. However, they are ordinary people and this ability has been achieved by intensive training since childhood.

The technology of 40k has gone through millennia of progress and then millennia of decay after the Dark Age of Technology when knowledge was lost and ancient technology is poorly understood. @@hujron Don't machine spirits help delay chaos corruption?
Don't forget, chaos does not only posses living beings, but can also physically corrupt and mutate inanimate things including machine and wargear. Yet Mechanicus gear that has went through rituals hardly ever gets corrupted.
So i don't think the mechanicus perform rituals because they are too "dumb and primitive" to understand gold era technology. Gold era technology has a critical flaw in all of its design (the human society who designed it never accounted for the danger of chaos and the warp). Even the AI and men of Iron turned against humanity because they were corrupted by chaos as a result of being soulless (i.e having not machine spirit).
Machine spirit is important and the techpriests know what they are doing when performing rituals. It was actually those from the golden age who did not know what they were doing and were primitive in their design philosophy.

I almost couldn't make it but it's a sin to start a book and not finish it especially after 250 pages. I never stop reading them after that

Something to keep in mind with 30/40k. It's the post-post-apocalypse. In the pre-30k setting humanity had a massive interstellar empire and built ai controlled robots called the Men of Iron who rebelled against their human masters. Humanity narrowly won the war but slid back into technological regression and superstition, with most of the worlds of the former human civilization unable to interact with each other. The Emperor eventually was able to bring some of that empire back together during the great crusade, which directly leads into the events of the Horus Heresy and eventually 40k.

Also in the first video, the imperial guardsmen depicted there are the Death corps of Krieg and this regiment is as grim and dark as it gets. Krieg was a hive world (Hive worlds are huge population hubs) that fell into a civil war which ravaged the planet and ended only after loyalists nuked it, turning it into a toxic wasteland (hence the gas masks which are a trademark of the regiment ....along with bayonets). Having nothing else to offer the imperium, survivors volunteered their battle hardened manpower as a penance.
This tradition continues ever since. Tithe after tithe, Krieg sends forth countless numbers of its faceless ghosts to whichever corner of galaxy the astra militarum deems too harsh for regular troops. Their numbers often lead to accusations of recruiting the underaged or violating the ban on cloning, but as long as the quotas are met, the empire turns blind eye to these practices. Death Corps mastered the war of attrition and are renowned for their unwavering discipline, stoic behavior and complete disregard for their own life.

You have to understand them. The Horus heresy was a large-scale galactic Civil War. The destruction of the Horus heresy is so massive that the destruction you see in all the Star Trek and Star Wars stuff pails in comparison to what happened in Warhammer. Basically the father is the Emperor of man humanity considers him that they're God so basically Horace and his other 19 Brothers are basically the equivalent of the choir of angels that Lucifer is. And the Space Marines are considered the angels of the emperor. So the Horus heresy is Warhammer and science fiction's version of the war between God and Lucifer and the rebellion between the angels. However in this one it ended with Lucifer and God pretty much killing each other and that is why in the 41st Millennium humanity is really screwed up

Kill Team is the Warhammer skirmish game. Where Warhammer 40,000 are huge Kill Team battles are small specialist teams. The video does a good job of showing the different specialists of the krieg and the orks. Flamethrower, the bomb squig, the nobleman with the klaw, the officer with the chainsword (impressive that he managed to kill an ork with the klaw of combat in close combat), the sniper, etc...
All of those are playable in Kill Team.
Some details: Getting a fatal headshot from an ork is harder than it sounds. Most of the head is taken up by the skull and the ork's actual brain is quite small in relation to the large head it sits on.
The space marine putting on his armor. As everything varies from chapter to chapter, in some cases it is much less ritualized and symbolic, but usually the armor has a lot of symbolism and ritual (possibly only the warrior aspect of the aeldari put a similar emphasis on putting on the armor and entering the state of emtne suitable for war).
You might think that the special forces would take less time to prepare, but with all that space travel usually lasts, really there is almost always time between when the ship approaches the destination and putting on the armor and if it is necessary and it goes with little time can accelerates, the space marines are ultimately pragmatic.
The armor has a fluid recycling system: sweat, urine, etc. It recycles and the armor disposes of it, so the user don't have to worry about awkward moments in the middle of battle. Although this is the most effective and logic solution deprives us of many potentially funny scenes.
Horus, the man, the legend, primarch, demigod, favorite son, first among equals, warmaster, personification of Dad insues. His tantrum on dad basically ruined the Imperium and led to its decline and conversion into an ultra-dogmatic and hyper-violent totalitarian theocracy (never a perfect place, but things were much better before the Horus Heresy).
A lot of people saw the video and thought why doesn't GW make a series of this? They clearly have the means, they have the horus heresy novels that they can adapt, so they don't even need to think or pay for the script.
    Maybe someday.

Moreover, space marines are not always in their armour (though its considered best practice to remain in armour as much as is pragmatically feasible so you are combat ready) how frequently a space marine will be unarmoured depends on circumstance and the chapter of space marine in question. Some background for you:
Once Horus and his brothers decided to betray the Imperium, they knew that there was still a large number of Marines in their Legions that would never break their oaths and betray the Emperor. To deal with this, Horus ordered an attack on a planet called Istvaan III, ostensibly to put down a civil insurrection started the planetary governor. This attack was to be carried out by those Loyalist Marines within their four Legions: the Sons of Horus, the Death Guard, the Emperor's Children, and the World Eaters.
Once the Loyalists were all planetside, Horus ordered his ships to fire virus-bombs onto the planet (which is actually MORE horrifying then it sounds!)
Watching the bombardment from his flagship, the Vengeful Spirit, Horus spoke four words. A declaration, an order, a statement that would echo through the Imperium for ten thousand years...

      @@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Additional clarity for the OPs comment;
A virus bomb, contains what is called "The Life-Eater Virus", when it reaches its host, it begins to liquify them on contact and on the inside, causing them to quite literally melt, their flesh, their organs, their bones, all of it and its not entirely quick either, its rather drawn out. Even the Death Gaurd loyalists, who ritually drink poison and toxins as a rite and gesture amongst them, and are deployed to the harshest environments imaginable, could not resist the Life-Eater Virus. It is a short lived virus and dies as quickly as it lives, but its purpose is not to be sustained but to be utterly rabid and kill as many as possible, as thoroughly as possible.
To make matters worse, its rate of travel and spread (contagion) is so virulent, that it jumps from host to host rapidly, spreading its destructive genetic structure in mere seconds. Horus however did not just virus bomb the loyalist Astartes from his legion and allied legions, he virus bombed the entire planet. There were billions living on Istvan III when he initiated bombardment. Entire cities of people, literally melted in seconds.
But it doesn't stop there. it was thought that some may survive in shelters or some how a few Astartes may have weathered it somehow. When the life-eater virus is deployed on that scale, the toxic gases from the sheer amount of rotting and decaying corpses create a layer in the atmosphere and air which would be flammable. Due to its short life span, they couldn't wait the loyalists out so as a secondary measure, they ignited the atmosphere and set the entire planet on fire. This is also ironically standard protocol when deploying the Life-Eater Virus to make sure its been completely destroyed as well as their targets.
So not only did they just virus bomb the planet, kill billions and try to kill the loyalist Astartes, they set the planet, quite literally and entirely on fire afterwards.
Final note; Many loyalists managed to get into shelter thanks to the actions of Saul Tavits (Emperors Children Loyalist), Nathaniel Garro (Death Guard Loyalist) and Gavial Loken (Sons of Horus Loyalist). Unfortunately it was not enough, almost every loyalist was then purged by traitor forces, Only Loken and Garro Managed to survive, Loken in the bowls of the planet, Garro by stealing the ship the Eisenstein to warn the Emperor.
Besides Loken, a singular surviving Loyalist waited on Istvan III after everyone else died, he waited for his Father, to repay his betrayal with a virus bomb of his own. That one Loyalist was Rylanor, 'The Ancient of Rites' of the Emperors Children Legion. He waited thousands of years for his now Daemon Primarch Fulgrim. I highly suggest listening to the StringStorm Song: "Rylanors Last Stand", its entertaining and gives better clarity of what happened but in song :D haha

The Horus Heresy series covers so much 54 novels in the series then an additional 18 to cover the siege of terra and another 17 for each of the Primarchs. There are so many books in the Horus Heresy because it explores individual characters, legions, guardsmen, everyday people caught in the conflict. It covers genres from drama to horror. It is a phenomenal series.
The changes wrought in the Emperor's Children are quite horrific, a story told from the perspective of a prisoner in Fabius Bile's lab would be truly horrifying. Then you have the Night Lords who's whole stick is causing terror it truly gruesome ways. Vulkan and Kurze on the Night Lord ship gave me chills. If you enjoy the genre and like reading I cannot recommend these books enough.

The thing that is always conveyed about an individual Space Marine is that they are a one man army, it's a huge part of their appeal.
But - the horror of the Horus Heresy comes truly from its scale. Both sides had *hundreds of thousands* of marines at their disposal. It's the reason the current setting is so utterly hopeless. The Heresy devastated the entire Galaxy and the Imperium were even forced to acknowledge that Space Marines couldn't muster in those numbers again - ever - (Which is literally why since then, they disbanded the legions and Marines exist in Chapters of c. 1,000.) The trailer does a really good job of highlighting how terrifying a Space Marine Legion truly could be.

i find amazing the sight of the space marine without armour, it seems so much more human altough the demigodly nature of the astartes, horus is so charismatic and dreadful 🥶😨😱 thank forse your reaction guys as always! i wanna know your opinion: did the emperor deserve all that grief? were its mistakes so unforgettable?

Not sure we can answer that well right now. From what we know, the emperor never wanted to be a god worshiped, so in a sense, it’s sad that he got twisted into something he wanted to get rid of. But at the same time, even if you are trying to change the world for good. Doing so essentially by yourself and making yourself a king/emperor is setting up for failure 🤔

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames it's a really difficult question you're right. At the end in this sad story there is no winner, only losers 😢 the emperor was still a man as the same as the primarchs.. envy, underestimation and every kind of flaws were leading there from the beginning i suppose. Thank you guys for like and reply keep on working on the channel you are amazing😁😁😁

"I still want to know how they pee." Well, as far as I know, they technically never do or really need to. Their bodily fluids are recycled and reprocessed through their armor and their backpack. Or are just so efficient they don't really produce any "waste." They can go days or even weeks without needing food, water, or sleep. That said, in some of the lore and books etc, Space Marines have a very distinct "stink" to them, as they kind of become a walking metal gym bag XD
