What Made the Triple H vs Mick Foley Feud So Awesome?

- Not only was this WWE feud in 1999/2000 awesome? It was also super important in the career of Triple H. This feud was instrumental in Triple H becoming "The GAME". We got awesome promos, awesome matches (Hell in a Cell and a Street Fight) and amazing moments. What more can you ask for? The Attitude Era at its finest. Shoutout to the homies Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love, hope they are doing well.

Mick Foley, along with the Undertaker, have to be some of the most selfless human being in the wrestling business. I mean he put over the Undertaker, The Rock, Triple H, Randy Orton and Edge. That is something in this ego driven business

Using Wikipedia a few weeks ago I figured out that Mick held the WWF championship three times, for a total combined reign of 47 days or something silly.

Also, fun fact about the Street Fight:
When HHH hit the 1st Pedigree, Cactus kicked out and HHH was legit stunned. Cactus told HHH to give him another Pedigree, which was the one of the thumbtacks and that was the finish. Apparently, when he got backstage after the match, Vince McMahon was super pissed off at him.
Not surprised that Vince got pissed at him....

Triple h 2000 run was amazing. He was undoubtedly the best heel in the business he had classic fueds with catus jack, the rock, Kurt angle and Chris jericho. Those fueds are still great to watch even today

This was the classic rivalry that put Triple H on the map as an bonafide main eventer who can take it hardcore. He and Foley always had a extreme violent matches that was a masterpiece. Foley would also turn Randy Orton and Edge into bonafide top stars as well. Mick Foley always known what was best for business.
Triple H gets so much hate from smarks and by dumb Englishman on UA-cam, his 1999-2001 run can go up with any wrestler run ever, the matches were incredible such a shame everyone forgets about it.
My brother always tell me that he dislikes Triple H but he likes him from the 1999-2001 era, which I totally understand why he describes it as Triple H's prime years

Yeah, unfortunately he also loved being in the main event a bit too much though. After the brand split he really stifled Raw for years forever in the spotlight.
He was a great heel and easy to hate but god damn did i get tired of Raw opening with a 10 minute Triple H promo what felt like every week. Even great heels are supposed to be there to eventually elevate the face and give the fans what they want.
Booker T losing at Mania was probably the epitome of the chokehold Triple H had on Raw.
With all that said, i'm actually a big HHH fan and one could argue that chokehold is what made him a great heel.
1999-2001 HHH was awesome and many people don't have much issue with him during that time frame, it's the 2002-2005 HHH that people have a problem with.

Loved their feud they worked perfectly together, the Street Fight at Royal Rumble 2000 at MSG is one of my favorite matches.
That triple H intro gives me so much 2k14 nostalgia
The build up, the anger, the intensity and the match was all too perfect. HHH and Cactus Jack segments felt so personal. HHH and Stephanie made everybody's blood boil week after week and Cactus Jack was the exact person to give HHH the punishment he needed. Royal Rumble 2000 is still one of my favorite pay per views till this day. Great commentary 👍👍
This feud had some of the most brutal matches I've seen. This was at the height of the Attitude Era. The Royal Rumble and No Way Out matches were some of the most vicious matches ever. The Ruthless aggression era has nothing on this.

Agreed foley is who attached my heart and soul to this industry. I’m not a follower anymore but still have a place in my heart because of the passion he exhibited
When I got into wrestling and started watching highlights of old PPVs, my first opinion about Foley was "Damn that thicc man legitimately got killed by his opponents in every single match. This guy sucks, he's so weak, he can't beat anyone etc."
And now, 8 years later, I realised that every person he feuded with became a huge star after having a classic match with Foley: Undertaker at King of the Ring 1998, The Rock at Royal Rumble 1999, Triple H at Royal Rumble and No Way Out in 2000, Randy Orton at Backlash 2004, Edge at Wrestlemania 22.
He became legend even tho he lost 90% of his matches. That's the beauty of wrestling
Mick Foley is one of the best babyfaces in pro wrestling. I honestly couldn't see him as a heel and when I did, it didn't feel right.

Not gonna lie, that HHH/Mankind match with the sledgehammer shot to Mankind's ribs was a solid match, then the HHH/Cactus Jack Street Fight at the Rumble was amazing. I'd say its better than their Hell In A Cell Match a month later in my honest opinion.

Nothing tops Undertaker vs Mankind. My Time song really suited him in the attitude era. HHH literally brutalized Mick in their feud, Mick did turn mid carders top legends or up and comers look so good. But I liked the cell match over their Rumble match

Fun fact in No Mercy one of the championship paths is of this storyline. The pink slip match is instead a ladder match. The hell in the cell match was just a cage match though.
Yeah No Mercy did the entire HHH vs Cactus Jack feud. And going against him at the Royal Rumble in that game was difficult asf, the CPU as Cactus Jack would reverse all of your moves.

Had HHH laughed off the transformation or even just stayed indifferent it would of bombed.

My absolute favorite feud of all time! I loved heel Triple H. That street fight with Mick Foley at MSG was truly amazing and that match set him up. That was followed by an amazing Hell in a Cell match at No Way Out. Amazing feud.

Mick Foley is one of only two superstars I can think of that were able to put over or elevate nearly any person they fended with (the other being the Undertaker). Foley was more than willing to take bumps that most people wouldn't attempt. When you heard any of the various entrance themes you knew magic was about to happen.
