I bought Crysis 3 for xbox yesterday. Hunter mode is really fun. I havent played much of the campaign too much yet but the visuals are gorgeous. Beautiful game. I loved Crysis 2 so much that when I bought C3 I bought C2 again . The cool thing is that C3 comes with a downloadable copy of Crysis 1. Now I have all three.
Yeah, in terms of AI, from Veteran upwards the enemies are REALLY savvy. They spot you the instant the cloak goes down regardless of undergrowth and land grenades with some serious precision. Makes a little recon with the visor necessary, and that's a very good thing.
Dude, only the first game is worth your money. They had a great intro, & ended with a great setup for the sequels to come. The 2nd game had a great concept; urban jungle; possible use of parkour, urban warfare with the aliens, 9/11 references, etc. they had everything going for it except they fucked everything up by regressing from the Sandbox style gameplay of the first game to a linear shooter like COD!!! Even more uncool is that they kill off Nomad in the lore, & force you to accept Prophet (aka Alcatraz) as the new protagonist & pretend Nomad never existed. Then on top of the aliens, they introduced a new enemy nobody gives a shit about (*cough* *cough* CELL) & devote significant portions of the game fighting these guys in a deserted city. The marines you fought with in the first game? Who cares, they are a non-present in the 2nd game! (Sorry, 2nd game got me really upset cuz i remember at the time really anticipating that game to blow the first one out of the water). By third game, who cares? Combine the two jungles from the previous game? Lame! Just unfuck the previous game & it would've been soo much better. Between fighting CELL, & fighting the aliens, storyline is predictable & uneventful compared to each of the predecessors. It suffers the same fate of Command & Conquer 4; a weak send off to a originally solid concept. & so, as fun as all the Crysis games are, disappointingly the Crysis series just progressively declined in quality after the first game. So moral of the story, all the Crysis games are fun, but if you want your moneys worth, buy the first game, don't bother with the others. It's the version that is least tainted by EA's corporate interests.
Same here. Also, I wonder what difficulty the reviewer played on. It's quite a thrill on Supersolider and those final boss encounters end up much more challenging (especially the boss shown at 4:10 ).
I got Crysis 2 for 70 cents from the Humble Bundle and absolutely loved it. Loved the visuals. Loved the professional, cinematic quality that was maintained throughout. Loved the flexibility and simplicity of the gameplay and controls. The story also really pulled through in the end. So is this game worth the 30 bucks?
Crysis 3 mixed the open world gameplay of Crysis 1 with the linear corridor shooting in Crysis 2 to get a well passed, thriling campaign with lots of funny moments between Psycho and Prophet.
Nerd mode engaged: They actually added some anti- aliasing for Dead Space 3 on PC which effects the lighting in some places, but there is no noticeable difference between platforms which is why I still bought it for XBOX. But the port was actually pretty solid, the devs just said it wasn't because they didn't want to turn 360 owners off.
I hope the hunter feel is strong in the campaign like the multiplayer mode. I loved that, and the new New York looks amazing like this. Makes me think about I Am Alive.
It's only now I completed the game (as a Crysis fan) and I've found it great despite some small irritations, I really loved it. The environment was a wonderful mix of urban forest, I admirad the wonderful decay. To add a lethal bow was brilliant, I used it instead of RPGs. Unfortunately I suffered from "game rage" when I couldn't save a special locations, I find it a bitter thing not being able to save a few spots, that is just insane. I thought there was a bug in the final boss fight but after reading some tips I could finish him easily on Veteran level. One have to supercharge the suit from the powerpacks and use the alien Pac-Grenade launcher, that will do the job. lol. I don't understand though how Prophet went to space and I hate how they changed the Psycho character. Waiting for Crysis 4, the "Island Prequel". (When Prophet went back)
i pre ordered this game and metal gear rising... but i still havent picked this one up yet(i picked up metal gear) is this worth the pre order..or should i buy pre owned?
I would personally give this game an 8.5. My biggest problem is that the game is only 4-6 hours long (maybe 7 on the hardest difficulty). The game makes up for it with it in graphics and the fact that is still so damn fun. The multiplayer alone makes this game worth every penny, but the SP is still really good. Getting the original Crysis with the game on release date is a bit of a plus too. A solid experience that is absolutely gorgeous, but the campaign should've been significantly longer.
Last game was New York, Now its New York again in Liberty Dome ,governed by C.E.L.L. You would think Humanity work together to stop an Impending Alien Invasion , A private Military trying to do a World Domination Scenario. 1st Crysis game was my favourite , The Endings of Crysis 1 , Stop Enormous CEPH Warship. 2nd ,Stop a Spore infestation Pod, Crysis 3 ending(Same thing)
Thanks for jumping in on the conversation. If you read more carefully, I never said that Crysis 1 was better or worse than Crysis 2. All I said was that Crysis 1 wasn't that great of a game. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't groundbreaking or anything.
Man in my personal case , i just bought this game cause i love CRYSIS series , in fact if you play all the three games one next to the other you will have a very very unique ten days of action nonstop, i mean the game is short but if you take every title as a all is a very diferent experience of what modern FPS deliver nowdays.
Hey, I love the Crysis series. 1 and 2 were both excellent games and I'm a huge fan. All I am saying is that this was a fair review with valid points. Criticism doesn't make this a bad game by any means.
I agree with most of the review, but I also REALLY enjoyed the sound track (should have been mentioned). Overall the sound track is always overlooked, but brings SOOOO much to the game it's important to mention, for any game.
Not a very nice review. I for one think that what happens between fights has always been just as important and having to travel to get to action can not be seen as disappointing. If it was all about constant battle with no calm before the storm, it would get extremely boring and repetitive. Half of what he said could not be further from the truth. Fortunately we are all different in our views.
True I find myself skipping battles and walking more than fighting and if I do happen to fight I find it very boring overall I didn't like the game lucky for me I only spent five bucks on this game
I quite liked Crysis 3: The Multiplayer is fun, Campaign is exactly the right pace, and the graphics, not as vivid as Halo 4 or as realistic as Battlefield 3, still make the game enjoyable. The ability to experiment with your nanosuit to fit your playstyle and the fact that no one weapon is better at something than another really makes you experiment. Id give it, maybe, a 8 ot
Okay, I'm not talking about C2. I said C1 wasn't that great of a game, and I would say most people agree. Besides being a benchmark for PCs, it didn't do anything groundbreaking or special. It was just an open world FPS.
PC has limitless power, it can take what ever you can put in it. The consoles have set pieces, with some minor modifications occasionally possible. There purpose is to make it easier for people to play together for cheaper, the PCs purpose is so people with more money can have a better experience and have better controls. If only gaming standards are factored in, of course.
I think the game deserves at least an 8. I would say 9 but I came across far to many glitches. NPCs spawned in random places, I got stuck in quite a few walls, triggers didn't always go off, etc. There were a few lazy enemy types too and not NEARLY as much diversity. It's obvious that this game was more rushed than the previous ones. The original Crysis is still the best in my opinion. But the bow... GREAT addition. You do have to crank up the difficulty to make it challenging though.
I have Crysis 1 - 3.. LOVED this series and frankly since I'm such a picky gamer I never got into the CoD or Battlefield hype. The Crysis and Arkham Asylum/City games were literally the only games I played for a while. With that being said Crysis 3 was only slighly better than Crysis 2 , but only from the campaign perspective. I'm still getting used to the multiplayer in Crysis 3. I like the fact that the maps are larger but now it just takes me longer to explore the map and find people to kill
I don't know what causes this problem, [SPOILER KINDA] but when I got to the liberty dome, and the cutscene when Psycho and Prophet are observing the turrent tower things, the audio gets all fucked up, like a lagging video. I stopped playing because it was late, but I'm not sure if it's going to keep happening, "Can it run Crysis?" I guess i the 360's case, no.
The part where he says "Not really". He isn't saying I disagree he is saying "Not really" what is meant as a polite way of telling someone no. For example, "2 + 2 = 5" "Not really mate you're drunk it 2 + 2 is 4" I never questioned why people gave him a thumbs up I was pointing out how people over look what people actually type.
I have to say that this review was just about spot on, a 7.5 is exactly what the game is. Heaps of people bitching about the 7.5 though, 7.5 = 75%, that's good.
GTA has free roam, like I said it was the "story" which isn't sandbox, because it has missions, and has a sequence. But outside the "story" missions it's a sandbox, because you aren't binded to a ending or a sequence Crysis doesn't has free roam! The only aspect of GTA which is sandbox is the free roam (explorable world), like NFS, some Naruto games, Saints Row, or any MMORPG like WoW or GW2
I would say it deserves a better score for being a better rounded game than the previous entries. It doesnt excell at anything but graphics but its solid in the other departments. I like to play stealthily! Good review though.
I agree with the difficulty that the reviewer is talking about. Human AI was so boring to me, Ceph were a lot more interesting. What I found surprisingly fun was the multiplayer though. But what I loved the most was the openness, so much more better than Crysis 2.
When playing on veteran up I dont mind since you die incredibly quickly. Also it's not so much that the AI is not good at finding you or taking when cover when suppressed etc. but that the bow is incredibly powerful... and as their friends die they just stand there.
Good review. One reviewers opinion that it was good but not excellent shouldn't cause butthurt imo. Buy the game if you liked the other two. I know I'm going to. Subjectivity is a good thing in reviews.
3. How does me wanting to discuss with more than one person lead to the conclusion I like to argue. Once again, besides the piracy thing, I never really said anybody was wrong. I just stated my differing opinion. That's why their called opinions. The only thing I can say is that is different...but variety is fun. I don't see why you think me wanting to talk about my opinions in comparison with others makes the discussion a battle to see who's opinion is better.
yea but this game is made for all and the original crysis was so advanced in its graphics only a few computers could actually play it. By the way a 17 hour story and 4 hours for co op, isn't that long. Games with multiplayer that is fun like crysis and different increase the play time and this game is also for the consoles so don't call out the pc fanboys (btw i would rather play on xbox over ps3 or pc)
I've been a massive fan of Crysis 1. The sandbox editor caught me up for months :D. The thing with 2&3(not warhead) is that it became (as many other mentioned) a CoD linear game. But... The story is faaar more superior, I mean i usually don't notice voice acting in games, but this one stood up a lot. By making it more realistic, they deleted some fun parts, like grabbing a chicken, jumping in strength mode and punching it into cosmos, or destroying buildings, or actually choosing how to approach an enemy camp. But all the games have something in common, and that's the only thing I don't like about these games, it's very lame to shoot 3/4 bullets in a human and even more on a simple alien to make them die, it slows the game speed. I think they should have added more things to kill, and more easily.
First, the reviewers get the game earlier than others.. So they get it before the release date, and get more time to play through the game. 7,5 isn't bad and it ain't that much of a difference from 8,0. And graphics adds to the gameplay, and I personally rather have good graphics nowadays. Not a MUST, but I wouldn't mind it at all.
Your wearing the most expensive weapon in the world, your deemed near invincible, I'd expect it to be easy, that's what makes it fun the feeling of being that superhero juggernaut.
I honestly haven't seen that. The enemies I versed were clever, they always tried too flush me out, they changed their routes, they cared about each other and they were challenging on harder difficulty's. I dont see the problem.
How dosent its do anything special? The nanosuit! Play stealthy, guns blazing, both or avoiding people all together in a beautiful open world, sandbox game. And one of the sandbox games that is a lot of fun.
It does everything right yet not enough, that does not justify what it does not deserve. Look at games like Borderlands 2, you do litterally nothing but shoot and have barely any other options (exaggerated). Its about what the core that gives you the opportunity to do certain gameplay options, and this - crysis 3 - offers that. I think the critisism is far from what it deserves because considering mechanics and possibilities of other games, this really stands out. It gives you options.
I did listen to that poor excuse. I'm in the same situation as you right now. I'd rather have Tomb Raider in my collection, sadly that's not the case. Not being able to pay for something and not liking something enough for a full purchase doesn't warranty piracy. Rather save up, wait until a price drop, or just ignore something that you don't think is worth the money.
Loved the beta. Excellent graphics on PC and hunter mode is pretty fun. I don't think the online community will last very long but I've ordered it nonetheless. At $55 online this will be a title well worth playing and I think the MP is much better than crysis 2.
It is a game made for showing off graphics. It's not made to have a good story or whatever. We don't care what you do with your money, it's your money. It is not fair to give it the same points as some other truly good game. Therefore, I salute you, Gamespot.
a sandbox game has an openworld that it lets you loose in, in world of warcraft, there are linear quests but you can also just wander around the huge world doing what ever you want.
I respect your opinion cause you have more experience in the series than me. I say that far cry 1 is the best game I have ever played. And I have played a lot of legendary games. I just downloaded far cry 1 mods, can't wait to play them. I have never seen such custom made maps that far cry had. They were incredible. And far cry basically created its own genre. It is so different from all other games.
Not that I'm losing sleep over it (and neither should anyone to be fair) but I think this game deserves a little higher. A solid 8 to 9 would be ok, but I can understand the 7.5 (though it suggest it's on the level of average games, subjective opinions ahoy!!). The thing I don't agree with is the whole 'too easy' bs, I mean if you're smart in a stealth game surely you can dispatch the enemies with ease, I thought that was the appeal? Anyway, decent review overall
You notice how Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 came out this year. And while both games where undeniably enjoyable they just didn't quite reach the heights of their predecessors. How much do you wanna bet EA put pressure on both Crytek and Visceral to push out a sequel for both franchises before next generation consoles launched and because of that both Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 where not quite as polished and as good as they should have been...
They're far from crap, but far from excellence as well. It's not too interesting, but the star of the show is the nanosuit. So though a decent story is welcomed (speaking from my experience from Crysis 2), fine execution of the nanosuit mechanic will be what I'm looking for. They do a pretty good job.
Im very agree with the Score ... they focus so much in the details of the game they forget about the story and the game is very short indeed compare to the other series...
yeah in the first game you have the ability to punch people up in to the air like a baws.. you have super speed which blows the spirnting of 2 and 3 out of the water.. and its a totally open world game.. and still looks almost as good as 3..
OK look, here's the deal. It didn't bother me paying like 20-30 bucks for games that truly give a unique experience in return, despite being short like Portal or Mirror's Edge. Both had unique quality features other than their graphics. But Crysis 3 is in short nothing more but Crytek's way of saying: "Hey look, we have a new engine." It had much potential but it's so short it's just ricidulous. It's not a bad game but it's nowhere near worth the 40 pounds or 35 bucks for a mundane experience.
Yeah it felt weird in the review, I don't think many people calling it flat out easy played the harder top modes. I like TB's impression video on crysis 3 though it isn't a full review. Compared to the other mainstream shooters, the campaign for Crysis 3 is pretty damn good, the presentation and the load-out choices. The story/plot was lacking a bit like Crysis 2, though both had very good production value and presentation, with great music scores. MP is better than avg i think, not the best
Try mars mappack, try us mappack, try backardi map, try mischief in paradise, try shrimp. There were so many imaginative maps but I cant' remember their names.
This is the score i would have gave this game when i first bought it but the multiplayer is actually really really good... I would give this game a 9 just for the multiplayer...
This game was NOT THAT EASY actually.
still better than CoD
I felt this game deserved a 9.5 or higher. Storyline and gameplay was amazing.
4:12 What type of reload is that?
I bought Crysis 3 for xbox yesterday. Hunter mode is really fun. I havent played much of the campaign too much yet but the visuals are gorgeous. Beautiful game. they should make an open world rpg. just imagine an open world rpg from cyteck
+Krish Lius yeah it would be awesome
That's actually VERY close to Crysis

For 7 bucks I'd say that 2 and 3 are worth it
maybe they played this game on easy...
ever seen anyone from gamespot play a game? They ALL suck ass.. like most kids on youtube.. so yes everyone on youtube plays the easiest setting
they did. in the video they walked infront of the enemy without being shot on. on veteran they would be dead in seconds
he never has a single sound bite of: maximum armour, or cloak engaged... YOU JUST FAILED THIS REVIEW
The gameplay is the best in the series. This is called improvement, it may not be as long but it doesnt mean shit, such a great game!
I feel your pain bruh, that's about the same amount of people i see playing on PS3,its a shame this gem of a multiplayer isn't more popular
Same here. Also, I wonder what difficulty the reviewer played on. It's quite a thrill on Supersolider and those final boss encounters end up much more challenging (especially the boss shown at 4:10 ).

song at 00:47? I know its a retool of Crysis 2's, NY Aftermath piece, but anyways know what its called in the OST?

the music is ecxelent in this
Excellent
it's the best part of the game
I need help! I am stuck at 3:30 and i cannot get to the control room!
Cry Engine+Battlefield 3 sounds and extra visuals+Arma's gameplay mechanics=Most realistic FPS game ever!!!
It is always worth mentioning. He even said the hardest difficulty was easy because of the tools you have at your disposal.
I hope the hunter feel is strong in the campaign like the multiplayer mode. I loved that, and the new New York looks amazing like this. Makes me think about I Am Alive.

Waiting for Crysis 4, the "Island Prequel". (When Prophet went back)
It is completely worth it. I own an Xbox 360 and it is AMAZING!! Every aspect of this game rocks
If I buy a used copy cab I play online or do I have to buy an online pass?
i pre ordered this game and metal gear rising... but i still havent picked this one up yet(i picked up metal gear) is this worth the pre order..or should i buy pre owned?

3:37 I was stuck there too!
I agree with most of the review, but I also REALLY enjoyed the sound track (should have been mentioned). Overall the sound track is always overlooked, but brings SOOOO much to the game it's important to mention, for any game.
this may be a stupid question but is there a team death match in crysis 3?
I loved this game I just wish they made it like 4 times longer...
C1 and C2 sucked C3 was amazing and one of my favorite games ever.
before you speak make sure you look it up...psycho is voiced by sean chapman, born and raised in greenwich, london...in the uk

Okay, I'm not talking about C2. I said C1 wasn't that great of a game, and I would say most people agree. Besides being a benchmark for PCs, it didn't do anything groundbreaking or special. It was just an open world FPS.

a 7.5 still represents a good game dont be hating on kevin for the review he s usualy fair in all of his reviews

People like you really need to understand that there will be dlcs and such that will expand and make the game better.
yea but this game is made for all and the original crysis was so advanced in its graphics only a few computers could actually play it.
Not a MUST, but I wouldn't mind it at all.
campaign or mutliplayer?
Your wearing the most expensive weapon in the world, your deemed near invincible, I'd expect it to be easy, that's what makes it fun the feeling of being that superhero juggernaut.
I honestly haven't seen that. The enemies I versed were clever, they always tried too flush me out, they changed their routes, they cared about each other and they were challenging on harder difficulty's. I dont see the problem.
How dosent its do anything special? The nanosuit! Play stealthy, guns blazing, both or avoiding people all together in a beautiful open world, sandbox game. And one of the sandbox games that is a lot of fun.
is this multiplayer like i mean split screen with friends.. do we need xbox live?? [SOZ IM NEW]
No splitscreen and yes you need xboy live to play this online multiplayer.
AI was already broken in crisis 2. Another not balanced shooter. Having lots of fun with sleeping dogs, dead space 3 is so underrated, amazing game.
7.5 was lower than expected but it still looks like a good time. 7.5 is good.
none of the uncharted games has a 20+ hour campaign, but it's still my favorite.
Anyway, decent review overall
after finishing Crysis 3 i think 7.5 / 10 was actually being generous.
i had a lot more fun playing though Crysis and even more-so Crysis 2 !!!
origin only, I know right?
Do people still play multiplayer?
Crysis is basically a huge game with tons of extra space and killing options.
yeah in the first game you have the ability to punch people up in to the air like a baws.. you have super speed which blows the spirnting of 2 and 3 out of the water.. and its a totally open world game.. and still looks almost as good as 3..
OK look, here's the deal. It didn't bother me paying like 20-30 bucks for games that truly give a unique experience in return, despite being short like Portal or Mirror's Edge. Both had unique quality features other than their graphics. But Crysis 3 is in short nothing more but Crytek's way of saying:
"Hey look, we have a new engine."
It had much potential but it's so short it's just ricidulous.
That's your opinion, the story was better the Crysis 2, the first Crysis was and still is freakin awesome I will give you that.
How is disagreeing with somebody telling them that their opinion is wrong? And people thumbed up because they agreed with his points.
Awesome review: Honest and critical. Well deserved 7.5.
is this game worth it.i know the campaign is short but is it enjoyable.and the MP seems great.
A 7.5 is a great score, this "gotta be 8-10" rating system is really fucking things up.
