I had the volume turned up almost all the way, and nearly had a heart attack! Couldn't enjoy the rest of the performance because I kept expecting to be jump-scared...

The clarity of everything... uau. You can argue about interpretation and rubato and all that, but not about the absolutely stunning clarity of everything he plays.

To describe his playing as beautiful is to not do it full justice. Sublime comes closer, but even it falls short.

I can't hear the minor themes starting at 3:10 (f minor) and 5:57 (same but in C# minor) without shivering and dropping a tear.
I just don't have the words to qualify such emotions. Grand, really Grand music.

In French we use the verb "qualifier" rather than "quantifier" because the last one is related to numbers, quantities, and emotions cannot be evaluated that way, but are rather described in terms of... quality.

Zimermann still reigns supreme!!! Enthusiasm for a new "contest winner" is all and good, but come on....Zimermann and Rubenstein are the Gold Standards for all Chopin.
My sentiments exactly. I thought Zimermann was the king until this fantastic pianist came into the light. I am glad he won the Chopina Competiziona.
