Took me to a complex jazz spiritual level filled with intrigue and extremes. My speakers and ears are on fire. A smooth rollercoaster ride filled with excitement and adventure. Taste like jam on a hot buttered roll. Thanks, I love it!
This brings back memories of talking to Sir Reggie when I was a 14years old in Irv's music center in Atlantic City NJ you were always a class act man Peace & Love my brother
..I went to Nevin Ave Elementary School which is only 3 min from the Lincoln theater on Central Av., had the likes of Duke Ellington and Count Basie, it later became a Church of Bishop Crouch, which my Mom attended... My Dad and Mom and me, haha, lived across the street from Jefferson High School, and my dad being a jazz drummer knew Billy Higgins, Don Cherry, Eric Dolphy, Arthur Blythe, when some of them were still in high school and who lived in that neighborhood, on top of that I went to Locke High and was in the music programs there with Patrice Rushen and also went to Gompers Jr. High...
I never knew about Smitty, being from the netherlands. But man, when I first heardhim play, on some US show, I was blown away. So cool to hear him again , wih a sudent friend of mine, we always said, when Smitty plays, its af you hear rain or wind. So cool.
Great history, especially being born in l.a and how blacks population wise dominated that side of town where my parents landed here from the south being amongst so much talent in that area that are still legends . That area drew so muchbtale t from across the country and higher end parts of l.a ❤
