like u in the uk we had rail post offfices or rpos as well. only one remaining now in service on a line from fort bragg california to willits califonria called the skunk line , this area is so remote that rpos are the only way to bring the mail .
This is the night mail crossing the Border, Bringing the cheque and the postal order, Letters for the rich, letters for the poor, The shop at the corner, the girl next door. Pulling up Beattock, a steady climb: The gradient's against her, but she's on time. Past cotton-grass and moorland boulder Shovelling white steam over her shoulder, Snorting noisily as she passes Silent miles of wind-bent grasses. Birds turn their heads as she approaches, Stare from bushes at her blank-faced coaches. Sheep-dogs cannot turn her course; They slumber on with paws across. In the farm she passes no one wakes, But a jug in a bedroom gently shakes. Dawn freshens, Her climb is done. Down towards Glasgow she descends, Towards the steam tugs yelping down a glade of cranes Towards the fields of apparatus, the furnaces Set on the dark plain like gigantic chessmen. All Scotland waits for her: In dark glens, beside pale-green lochs Men long for news. Letters of thanks, letters from banks, Letters of joy from girl and boy, Receipted bills and invitations To inspect new stock or to visit relations, And applications for situations, And timid lovers' declarations, And gossip, gossip from all the nations, News circumstantial, news financial, Letters with holiday snaps to enlarge in, Letters with faces scrawled on the margin, Letters from uncles, cousins, and aunts, Letters to Scotland from the South of France, Letters of condolence to Highlands and Lowlands Written on paper of every hue, The pink, the violet, the white and the blue, The chatty, the catty, the boring, the adoring, The cold and official and the heart's outpouring, Clever, stupid, short and long, The typed and the printed and the spelt all wrong. Thousands are still asleep, Dreaming of terrifying monsters Or of friendly tea beside the band in Cranston's or Crawford's: Asleep in working Glasgow, asleep in well-set Edinburgh, Asleep in granite Aberdeen, They continue their dreams, But shall wake soon and hope for letters, And none will hear the postman's knock Without a quickening of the heart, For who can bear to feel himself forgotten?
you know, im beginning to think that it is physically impossible for u to make a bad video! animation was good as always, the editing etc. was great, and i liked the poem! also i liked how u hav expanded the train station, it looks betta
2:00 Red. what's the meaning of this ?! You stole my cola last week, then you eat my taco! I was saving that for a special occasion! Right. I'm gonna eat your special bag of pretzels tonight and then i'll punsh you in the face. Neon.
I love coming back and watching these videos. But one thing I’ve always wondered between this one and TTWT 3 is what engine is the 4600 based off of. It honestly looks like a A1 expect for the cab. Are the engines freelanced designed or are they based on real engines? I will say as I’ve built a somewhat “realistic” version I guess you could say of Little Western in Gmod is that it looks something like Captain Baxter or a Kerr Stuart 0-4-0WT.
The engines are mostly freelance designs, the only exceptions being the 9F and the Andrew Barclay saddletank. The 46000 was built as a freelance large boiler express locomotive, the fact that its wheel arrangement is depicted by the standard Lego articulated bogies means that its the least realistic of my engines. I decided it would be a 4-8-2 if it were realistic and the closest match I found to it would be a proposed LNER design.
don't remove it! just because it isnt ur best doesnt mean it is bad to watch! it is fun! i think its quite good, and if a video isnt perfect, that makes it even better sumtimes, as is the case with the p vs m sequel.
Are you kidding?! I would love to read the epic story of the great Michael Darling and his quest to deliver the sacred budget! And who wouldn't want to hear the amazing tale of the chancellor, tasked with the incredible job? How dare you leave out these imperative details! Shame on you! Grr!
It's from a 1936 movie with the same name about mail being delivered on the LMS. The loco they used for it has been preserved.
15 years this video was made
I'm liking it man
It seems to have started out as a heritage line, but its services became so intensive that it's evolved into a new main line.
TurboJUK I like the song
◖⚆ᴥ⚆◗◖⚆ᴥ⚆◗◖⚆ᴥ⚆◗
"Birds turn their heads" and the penguin - great little moment.
Hey Martin!
WE MAKING IT TO SCOTLAND WITH THIS ONE🔥🔥💯💯
I always thought that the desk railway was a heritage railway.
but I can see it's a railway that has a passenger and mail service.
1. I kept listening to the 'song' and I got the idea of Reggie and Neon giving it a try.
2. The Stig is awesome.
Excellent! I love this poem and I love your videos, so it's an excellent combination!
This video is literally a time capsule
Indeed it is.
It's not exactly a commercial, it's a 25 minute documentary. The loco was a 'Royal Scot' 4-6-0 no. (4)6115 Scots Guardsmen.
man that was so goof with the letter from neon! lol. I also see you've managed to make a model of lady nan from lego!
It's like a 1950's rapper #oldies #badassgrandpa
Is torboj british
Gollee gee I have no idea! I wonder what the UK at the end of his name stands for! Yeah he's british.
Owen Meschter but this was from 1936
I randomly bought a disc about the history of railways and then I just see this song on it like right after I watched this.
You guys return in 2009?
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!
Tell Reggie that I wait for him and the engines!
is that a tux in the background when the train pulls into the station?
Man I remember watching this video of the kid.
I can recite this word for word
Any video focusing on the 46000 is a good one. I have an almost unnerving obsession with that train.
This should be a remix.
like u in the uk we had rail post offfices or rpos as well. only one remaining now in service on a line from fort bragg california to willits califonria called the skunk line , this area is so remote that rpos are the only way to bring the mail .
It's a school blazer with a gigantic comedy pair of Y-Fronts.
Recorded it from my DVD.
0:32 best part
Na 1:56 is the best part 😆

Absolutely brilliant
A bit like the Churnet Valley Railway is hoping to do!
What a good ol days in 1950.
What a good video! i like the Locomotive you've used. this video reminds me alot of the Flying Kipper in a way, nice one! :)
Very clever links you have put in there. Interesting how putting it in greyscale makes the film have a very differnt mood.
you know, im beginning to think that it is physically impossible for u to make a bad video! animation was good as always, the editing etc. was great, and i liked the poem! also i liked how u hav expanded the train station, it looks betta
My favorite poem
Not all mail trains need to be non-stop.
The top gear refrences XP
2:00 Red. what's the meaning of this ?! You stole my cola last week, then you eat my taco! I was saving that for a special occasion! Right. I'm gonna eat your special bag of pretzels tonight and then i'll punsh you in the face. Neon.

Who would have thunk it? 1930's rap?
Awesome video...
So is the desk top railway set in Scotland then?
How have I never noticed the Top Gear reference when it says "the south of France" ?
no its turboj's monster. if this was in colour you'd be able to tell. knox's is blue, turboj's is red
It most certainly is :)
Yay, more Lego trains!
This is cool
Are you working on the Desk Railway series at the moment or have you not started yet?
I have the original Night Mail film on DVD, and I just ripped the audio from it.
The only 'bad' video I can think of is the Penguin VS Monster sequel, which I plan to remove.
I feel old!
In the scenes during the verse about the letters, was the train really going that fast or did you just speed the film up?
The first rap
don't remove it! just because it isnt ur best doesnt mean it is bad to watch! it is fun! i think its quite good, and if a video isnt perfect, that makes it even better sumtimes, as is the case with the p vs m sequel.
cool!
the monster was a sheepdog i think.
It's not Reggie, it's 'Cornish' Phil Punxatrelawney. Remember Reggie's driving.
lol the penguin was the bird haha
Nope, it's true. Trouble With Trains returns in 2009 as an all new series: Desk Railway Chronicles.
