  • One of the many greatly missed flat rides of Coney's past was their wonderful Zipper. It was one of the few (if not only) operating Chance Zipper rides that allowed single riders, and you definitely got your moneys worth with a super long ride cycle. Dave is the only rider on this cycle - he's in car #5 but its sometimes a bit hard to follow. Pardon the crude video work and enjoy the flipping!

One of the first generation Chance Zippers built... You can tell by looking at the lighting design and especially, the large size of the center sprocket that turns the entire ride around on the rim tire motors... Only the early ones had this particular configuration...

Man I really dig that old school style vintage zipper! I also noticed part of the Eyerly Aircraft Spider next to this Zipper ride which I think is another cool ride.

The flipping action has a lot more to do with the speed of the unit and the riders ability to shift their body weight to make the cage spin.

Yeah... Cause a friend and I go on it and it takes two of us to flip it. I would never be able to do it own my own but he's pretty strong look like so I can see him doing it

I was born in 2002, but I am growing up with a Zipper from the 70's. It's one of the classic Zippers still operating. The ride cycle is very long, but they don't allow single riders

i'm still very upset that they took the zipper away before i got old enough to meet the height requirements to ride it >:|

As a permanent (instead of a traveling) model, I wonder if this ride broke down frequently due to less opportunities to replace potentially worn parts.
