@ChemKnitsTutorials Hahaha, I am too! I love striping and gradient yarn, but I don't always like how it knits up. I'm going to use that info for the garments I make, for sure!
I agree with everyone. That is some stunning yarn. The base yarn looks like it was heavenly to begin with and the colours just sing together on it. Gorgeous
Love the colours on the greyed base. I recently did a three colour self stripe but I did each section at a time in a steam pan as I wanted a saturated colour - worked well!
I am not v good at schematics like my brain doesn't register the paths so for quite a few times I used this tool I would find I wound one or two strands wrong. Then after dyeing and wanting to wind into a ball, it was a horrible tangled mess so I would say when done, examine carefully that you didn't go the wrong way even once, it will really tangle in the unwinding. When I finally got it its a beautiful rhythm to move the tool and say the words over under under over or somesuch chant. I love this noddy.
I've made some errors in the past for sure, but usually I can see where a strand doesnt line up and then I can go back and fix it in advance. I did have a warping board one where I went backwards for one section though.
I’m amazed by the brightness of the end result. Considering the original color of the yarn. Also has anyone dyed any mohair yarn, I’m thinking about making a machine knit sweater that I will dye after.
I would love it if you had a knitting machine that you could use for swatches. I have seen you use the machine you have to do sock blanks. I haven't used a machine my self so I don't know if it would be fast enough to be feasible for swatching.
The knitting machines I have for sock blanks wouldn't give a good swatch for fingering weight yarns because the gauge is so large and loose. They're intended for worsted weight yarns.
This video is just in time for the Imagined Landscapes mystery gnome knit along #14! The gnome is designed to showcase self striping yarn and this would probably be perfect! Gnome pattern name is “Gnome news is good news”
Omg your info at the end about how the stripes behave and how to get the striping desired was priceless! Thank you
I haven't done this myself (I don't really knit socks - I'm a barefoot kind of gal) but this is how I WOULD do it if I needed to

This yarn base is so luxurious. I wanted to keep trouchign it!
Those colors are beautiful on that base. You have a fantastic eye for color.
Thank you so much 🙂
those colors together are AMAZING.
Thank you so much!
This is so beautiful!
Beautiful results! 💜💙💚
Thank you! 😊
Rebecca, you read my mind! I have a ton of blank highland wool that I'm going to experiment on. One thing I really want to try is self-striping!
Self striping is super fun!

One at a time totally works well! SOmetimes I'm a bit impatient ;)
I just want the skein...just the skein...not to use it, just to leave it as is in all it's glorious beauty! I adore how the colors turned out!
I have a feeling I'll play with these colors on this yarn base again in the future - just maybe not self striping.
I absolutely love that yarn! Blues, purples & most greens are my favorite colors!
Thank you!
You made this process much easier than how I did it last time. Thanks so much. You are a blessing.
I hope this helped!!
So pretty!
Thank you! 😊

I have dyed a little amount of mohair blends over the years. more recently a mohair/silk blend ua-cam.com/video/8CpMeeyzj0M/v-deo.html
Ah, the technical description - "because of color wheel stuff"!
OMG is that what I said?
