In my headcannon, Jin went off to Iki shortly after that duel with Lord Shimura, partly to help Iki and confront his past, and partly to lay low and avoid the heat in Tsushima after being branded an outlaw. But the thing is, he goes to Iki just after reaching the peak of his power as the Ghost. At least in Tsushima, the Mongols experienced a gradual rise in Jin's wrath as he unlocks new abilities and weapons. Here in Iki however, the Mongols are getting the full power of the Ghost from the get-go. Poison, bombs, the flaming sword, the Ghost Stance, the Mongols of Iki never knew what hit them!
I feel like this song was really underused in the main game. I was so happy to hear it used in Iki. I heard this track dubbed "A lifetime ago" as it's used mainly in missions regarding Ryuzo and all the story bits from those missions. The title applies here, as well. The son of The Butcher of Iki is fighting for the freedom of Iki.
