Thanks! The intro to the actual song is drums only, so I was able to pull samples of the kick, snare, and the "warbly kick" on the downbeat straight from the real track. I triggered those samples using Structure in Pro Tools via MIDI OUT of my Roland TD-12 module. The other sounds like the hi-hats, maraca, floor tom and snare in the chorus, I couldn't get a clean sample from the track so I just modified the 808 sounds in the TD-12 as best as I could match the tones, and recorded that as audio from the module. So I think I triggered the kick, verse snare (snare head) and warbly kick (floor tom rim) samples using MIDI out of the module into Pro Tools, then routed the hihat (bow) to the Master Out Left on the module, the maraca (hi-hat edge) to the Master Out Right, the floor tom (head) to the Direct Out Left, and the chorus snare (snare rim) to the Direct Out Right. That way in Pro Tools I had 4 individual audio tracks of all 4 sounds coming out of the module, plus 3 tracks of samples triggered with MIDI. That's all 7 tracks. Typing it out makes it seem more complicated than it actually is.
@@chiefpronto Yeah, that makes sense! I'm trying to pull the samples myself using stem separation and MIDI, but yeah the chorus isn't super clean. I did see your full cover, which is awesome. So true to the tone and fun to see how it can be reconstructed and played!
you are a legend!!!
love!!
this is tight af! also, how did you get those drum samples so cleanly?

Have you seen the version with guitar and bass/synth? ua-cam.com/video/BI3kdP2ztyU/v-deo.html

I really like your cover!
Hey, is it ok if I use your track to make a bass cover? I'm not a youtuber so I don't monetize anything, it's just for fun.
Thanks very much! Sure man, go for it!
