Definitely try out the second song they put out, K.O. I’m saying this as someone who has Souvenirs in their top 10 albums of all time: K.O. is one of the best songs they’ve ever made, hands down.
Well that was better than I was expecting. Good mix of poppy melodies, metalcore, and djenty guitar work. Fun song structure too. I'm looking forward to more.
It doesn't have to be for everyone, but I LOVE this song and the direction they have been heading. The clean singing goes beyond just an over reverbed metacore chorus, the melodies are genuinely fun memorable. But there's proggy instrumentation in there as well! Also, the structure of this song is creative and more than anything I just appreciate that the song is FUN. Maybe not for everyone, but to me having joyful metal has a welcome space. I'll put this right on with the new Bloodywood/Babymetal collab and Electric Callboy.
I love the lyrism of Matheo, musics like Monochrome or Head Rush are so beautiful to me. But the band are so much talented, and Camille is a very talented singer. Hope for the sucess for them, always.
when novelists started, they had a clear prog metal sound with Matteo which was great then when they had Tobias, they were more Bad Omens-esque with some rap elements thrown in which was great now they have Camille and they're a mix of pop and metalcore with the occasional djenty guitar work, sweeping melodies and some sweet solos thrown in which is great they haven't done anything so far that ive hated every time they've changed it up, ive been into it but i do agree with one of the comments here, they are kinda screwed bc the tiresome "we want matteo back" crew are always gonna have a problem with whatever they do but yeah i love them and im super into this also loved Mourning The Dawn a lot too ✌🏻🩵
Yeah you're not kidding about the chorus being stuck in your head. It's been 4 days and it won't leave lol. Absolutely killer track. Camille is really coming into her own.
Pretty unique song. Very interesting. I like it. The very beginning of the riff 0:26 - 0:32 gives me mega Rammstein vibes. Anybody here had the same reaction?
Not the biggest fan of this song, but I feel like this band kinda gets screwed a lot. All the "fans" who've just constantly complained since Matteo left are just annoying. Like if you don't enjoy it just listen to the old stuff and move on. But anyway, keep up the good work 👍
I love this new song. I love metal bands that try new things and mix genres, so this is right up my alley! Thank you for the reactions, love you Bogdan
To be honest this one didn't hit for me, but I appreciate what they did with it (especially with guitar solo moments + thall because obviously), and the music video was still really awesome!
I think from a song writing and production standpoint, it's good. The song is fun, and I like it. Her harsh vocals are nice even though she kind of sounds like Courtney (Spiritbox), and her clean vocals fall flat for me. Also the lyrics are super bland. Not something that will hit my playlist but a fun listen nonetheless.
They have mixed all the past stuff: matteo and tobias eras, and give a different kind of metal. THIS COULD BE THE NEW WAVE AND WAY TO LISTEN METAL. Just saying
@@bogdanhxc "Karaoke: a form of entertainment, offered typically by bars and clubs, in which people take turns to sing popular songs into a microphone over pre-recorded backing tracks." I'm trying to like the vocals. I just find it went from pop, to screaming, to Disney, to shouting with effects, to some random "unprocessed" segment at the solo, to Mariah Carey runs, I feel like we had it all😂Just felt like a bit of an identity crisis (in my humble opinion)
In fact, they were never generic except for some parts of Souvenirs, which actually was a very amazing album at that time. They also don't sound generic now. I think that this type of mix makes it sound bland, not generic. If there were more brightness and louder vocals in the mix, which would've been balanced with instrumental line, I think the effect would be completely different. They literally made breakdowns more bright compared to the overall song, this is also a weird decision to put the vocals under the instrumental part during the chorus, except for the parts where they wanted to make it feel distant and blurry, which I would consider the artistic choice. And still it's not bad, but imagine a song like this with Zakk Cervini mix quality for a second. And don't get me wrong, mix that has a very specific and individual sound could be good. A perfect example of specific and effective mix would be "Like Petals From a Stem" of Boundaries. But in this case it is not too distinct and seems just a little unbalanced.
Novelists was my favorite band back in the days when matteo was the vocalist. Their first demos and 3 albums were perfect. I didn't like the change to the Burning Down Alaska singer bur i listened some times their singles. But man, i don't like their new stuff. Not only the single but i'm really disapointed with everything. Guitars sound, bass doesn't exist, drums are slow, voice is beauty but weak. Their talent, for me, is a bitwasted. It's like they don't fit together because their are fantastic musicians but their feel soft this past years. I'll still trying listen their new songs, i really think that they can catch me again. This song have some good ideas that i like but still not for me

i dare say, that song is the best they made since matteo departure imo
K.O. is really good! Love the choice of melodies in it her voice is great!
To me, this is absolutely perfect! I could listen to this all day, love their current style
I love these new Songs and I'm really happy you're giving them a shot!

I cant get over how much the guitarist looks like ryan gosling
screamed this at their boston show and the whole band laughed lmaooo. took a picture with him after
Okapi is their best song with Camille, check it out if you’re not into their new stuff
I think Prisoner is better, but Okapi is also good.
I agree so so so much
It was, but KO just beat it imo
Mourning the Dawn was also incredible
Loving the overall vibe here. I continue to remain hopeful for this band.
She is unreal live too, it made me completely change my mind about her
2015 billboard type chorus and I fw it heavy
Banger!
I love the lyrism of Matheo, musics like Monochrome or Head Rush are so beautiful to me. But the band are so much talented, and Camille is a very talented singer. Hope for the sucess for them, always.
I've been a believer in this version of the band ever since that live version of Okapi dropped. She can really hit some notes.
Surprised you didn't like prisoner, seemed to be a return to form for them.
I appreciate how they continue to evolve while always keeping those "novelists" pieces mixed in there.
I love Novelists. Can't wait to see them again
when novelists started, they had a clear prog metal sound with Matteo which was great
then when they had Tobias, they were more Bad Omens-esque with some rap elements thrown in which was great
now they have Camille and they're a mix of pop and metalcore with the occasional djenty guitar work, sweeping melodies and some sweet solos thrown in

they haven't done anything so far that ive hated
every time they've changed it up, ive been into it
but i do agree with one of the comments here, they are kinda screwed bc the tiresome "we want matteo back" crew are always gonna have a problem with whatever they do
but yeah i love them and im super into this
also loved Mourning The Dawn a lot too ✌🏻🩵

Bogdan loves it so that means they are getting a new vocalist tomorrow.
song 10/10 serial killer glasses on B 10/10
Fuck i love this song
Idk if this was filmed prior to it, but there is an album announcement now!!!!!! :))))
Absolutely love it!
Catchy af, love it!
Pretty unique song. Very interesting. I like it.

I will say this one stuck with me better than the others. Not that the other songs were bad but this one just hit the buttons for me.
As a fan of them since 2017, this is the first song with Camille I really like, her vocals are much better and the songwriting is amazing
Novelists can’t do no wrong when it comes to solo my goodness😮😮
Banger! For whoever enjoys them, checkout Live in Lyon on their official channel, amazing stuff.
certified banger
Metal with a pop sensibility.
Good review and great song
Blues-core ❤🔥👏
My favorite band 😍🤘🏻🔥

I have such a crush on Camille
That chorus sounded like something off Paramore’s first album.
Hear K.O. from Novelists pls✊
I love this new song. I love metal bands that try new things and mix genres, so this is right up my alley! Thank you for the reactions, love you Bogdan
It's cool but I wouldnt replay this alot
Pls post your reaction to KO. It’s beautiful
Florestan is not kenough.
To be honest this one didn't hit for me, but I appreciate what they did with it (especially with guitar solo moments + thall because obviously), and the music video was still really awesome!
So they changed vocals again?
A year and half ago, yeah.
❤🤘

i'm still feel nothing. We'll see
I didn’t like this one too much. But mourning the dawn from the last EP is absolutely fucking incredible

where silent planet
PARACORE
Karaoke-core
Respectfully tf does that even mean 😭
How the fuck you gonna sing along to this? The vocal performance here is unreal

I feel like new Novelists is much more intriguing. They've always been decent but at the same time very generic djent metalcore imo
Old Novelists >
they sound so generic most of the time but we gotta respect that they produce everything totally by themselves
In fact, they were never generic except for some parts of Souvenirs, which actually was a very amazing album at that time. They also don't sound generic now. @@Vixfor_ Right, I never get these comments, there's *nothing* generic about it. I guess it's too "poppy" for some people and they attach this label?
maybe it's just me but this seemed extremely boring
I fuck with the experimental aspect for lack of a better term, but that mix is so terrible idk if i can listen to it a lot lmao

Its a meh from. Souvenirs is such a top tier album.
Since Matteo left novelists have gone hard in making some of the most generic "heavy" music out there and this song isn't an exception.
