Just shot our first commercial on these. Absolutely incredible for the price. Sharp wide open and unique character. Smooth and clean bokeh. Dope flares. I do wish the 31mm and 85mm shared the rainbow flare of the 43mm and 58mm. Can’t wait to pick up the 21mm!

I've used these lenses, they're very pleasant. I think dulens made a mistake by advertising them as having a 'vintage' look though. Yes, they have a few characteristics like that, but only in a subtle way, and I think the 'vintage' badge may have caused some people to overlook them.

i use these with the laowa anamorphic and it’s a great look, esp shooting open gate

Sample footage looks great. Nice sub-$5k lens kit. The size makes them good for light weight RS4 Pro gimbal use or on a Ronin 4D with the PL Mount.

Great lenses, but needs care when used. Looks awesome in a creative way with hard lights hitting the front elements, and beautiful under soft light and shaded outdoors. Vintage with minimal CA, and good amount of sharpness. Just seems like you need to watch out that you don't get one look when you are aiming for the other. Thanks for the video!

I already compared them. Simera C don't flare nearly as much, and they're also in very different classes of lenses. Simera C is more of a mirrorless lens whereas the Dulens is a full on PL mount that can be used with rear filters and focal reducers thus a lot more versatile. Simera C is dope on the Ronin 4D
If you own a set of Arles, Simera C match them really well for smaller secondary setups.

@@telescopefilms1364 I think there's a huge misconception in the relationship between the quality of "film look" and lenses. ARRI Master Primes are some of the sharpest lenses ever made and it was designed for the film era.
Film has an inherent softness to it (being analog) so it has more to do with the sensor and how the digital signal is processed, rather than the lenses. FX3 isn't an overly sharp camera so I wouldn't worry too much about looking too "digital".
The easiest way to achieve film look is to use a plugin such as Filmconvert or Dehancer

Thanks for reviewing these! Curious if you tried using the 21mm with the Cinema Drop-In Filter Mount from Breakthrough Photography. The flange depth of the 21mm seems like it might not work with behind the lens filtration.

Thanks for the great Video. The Lenses look really amazing. I have a question: I used the 31mm on my FX3 and noticed some very heavy distortion on the edges when panning. I would call it kind of a wobble effect. I tried switching the active IBIS to standard and the problem got a little better but was still noticeable. When turning IBIS in my FX3 off the problem still existed even though it was a lot better than in the other two modes. Has someone noticed the same problem? Is it always¥s recommend to turn off IBIS when using Cine Lenses? On the same day i also tested the Cooke SP3 32mm and had absolutely no issue even with active IBIS turned on.

Why not just buy some old Canon FD lenses for like $100 a piece and put a cheap geared focus ring on there? I love your channel and your reviews so this isn't a knock on ya'll. But more for the community... these are $1k a lens. For what? Rainbow flares and 0.8 focus gears? focus breathing isn't great with these either.

    • @blialee4837

The problem with old vintage lens is that they are not truely meant for video work. So when you use a focus motor and say you use lidar. Theres a chance that the motor can over turn the lens and destroy them. I know this because i happened to my leica r 35 mm f2
