    Very helpful thank you. Easy to follow, perfect use of mouse pointer coordinated with words to show where to find menu options, good pace, no jargon, clearly spoken, straightforward words used. Your teaching style is refreshing when there are so many fuzzy much less helpful "explanations" from people who are experts but can't explain themselves to learners.

    I am so grateful for your knowledge and the clear and concise way you have of communicating how to go about the skills you demonstrate. You are a wonderful teacher. This particular video blew my mind. I had no idea you could do this. I have been placing text boxes below pictures before now to try and label things. I feel so silly. Thank you so much for this video!

    I can't believe that those idiots at microsoft puts the 'insert caption' under the "References" tab. Any normal person would have put it inder the 'Insert' tab. Or at least the microsoft developers should have put it under both tabs. But you'd expect that 'insert caption' would be expected to fall under the "Insert" tab. Whoever decided to leave out of the insert tab should be just sacked from Microsoft. Or just sack the whole lot of them. I should mention though ..... this is a good video. Thanks Adam.

      Hi SouthPark,
      I agree that it should also be included in the Insert Tab illustrations group. You could always customize your ribbon to include it if you feel inclined. I sometimes think of it in the Insert Tab too, so I see where you're coming from. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

    Thank you Adam. Please make a video on how to increment the label of caption with respect to chapter numbers. Example-
    Chapter 1- Figure 1-a, Figure 1-b, Figure 1-c......
    Chapter 2- Figure 2-a, Figure 2-b, Figure 2-c......
    Chapter 3- Figure 3-a, Figure 3-b, Figure 3-c..... etc.
    Request you to post ASAP as I am not able to proceed further without that in a project.

      Hi Adarsh,
      You can do this if you check the 'Exclude label from caption' checkbox in the Caption Dialog Box. From there, you can click 'New Label' to create your own label name, and 'Numbering' to design your own numbering format. I hope this helps.

    Hi Adam. Thank you for the video. I have roughly the opposite problem. I have a document with pictures and captions; however when I update the document, a couple times a year, I often want to remove pictures from the updated document. The challenge is that if I delete a picture the caption box seems to stay, orphaned, in the document. Clicking on the box, right clicking, nothing seems to offer the possibility of deleting the now, unneeded caption box. My best work around is to delete all of the caption text, which keeps any words from showing up; however, still the hard formatting of the box is embedded in the document and Word wraps the regular document text around the seemingly blank caption box. Any thoughts on how to remedy this situation and remove caption boxes completely? I am surprised this isn't just a "click on the thing, then right click, delete" kind of process...

      You can add a reference list in the References tab, or you can create your own list and cross-reference them within your document. I made a video on cross-references here, I hope it helps you:

    Hi. What if I decide to move the picture (already with captioned made) to another page. Does the caption move with the picture (as group) or it stays as text and does not move with the picture?
    Also, say my 3rd picture is moved up a few pages in my later draft. Will the caption change from Figure 3 to Figure 2 automatically, if I will place the picture above an existing picture. I hope my question makes sense. If not I can clarify.

    • @ProfessorAdamMorgan
      @ProfessorAdamMorgan  4 роки тому

      Hi JoshTheBoss,
      The caption will not automatically be grouped and moved with the picture. You will need to click and select all of the caption, then hold control on your keyboard and click the picture. Then you can drag the picture and the caption will move with it.
      The references between the captions will not change to my knowledge. You will need to manually adjust the numbering between the captioned pictures. I hope this helps you out.

    Hey Adam. Thank you.. just a question.. is there a way to decrease the distance between the caption and the picture. It seems like the default has too much of a gap. Thank you!

    • @ProfessorAdamMorgan
      @ProfessorAdamMorgan  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Celebrity Dog Trainer Joel Silverman,
      Yes, if you click the picture, go to the Home Tab. In the bottom-right section of the Paragraph group, you'll see the Paragraph Dialog Box Launcher Icon. Click that, then in the Spacing section, change After to 0 pt and this will reduce the empty space after the picture. I hope this helps, thanks for watching.

    How do you hide the partial figure legend from not showing up in the TOC, also my figure legends are having formatting error with the recent update on windows 10 the hidden function separates the legend into 2 separate lines rather than being a single continuous legend in the document. When I open the same document on a windows 7 computer with a similar version of office 365. It shows up good as a single continuous legend. Any suggestions on this?

    • @ProfessorAdamMorgan
      @ProfessorAdamMorgan  5 років тому

      Hi Lokesh,
      You can hide the figure by clicking the 'Exclude label from caption' option within the Caption dialog box. You may have to increase the width of your object so that Word doesn't default to 2 lines instead of one. I hope this is able to help you out, thank you for watching.
