I love our European robins; they generally aren't shy, they'll hop right up to you when you're digging in the garden. My special encounter was some years ago, my birthday fell on a (early spring) Monday, and as I was trudging to work past some neighbours' garden a robin sat there similarly close on an exposed branch and sang its happy morning song to me.
Good video to remind us about taking the time to enjoy the process of photography. You looked ready to do just that with your tea in hand😊 Thanks again for the beautiful images
Loved your Video Kim - it has encouraged to heading over to Blarney Lake to check out the swans this morning (plan was housework!). Thank you for sharing.
What a lovely day Kim, such an amazing experience with the Robin. I cried joyful tears listening to your excited encounter. Its how feel when i watch cardinals which is also believed to bring messages from loved ones who have passed on. 🙏🏼❤
I spent nearly a month off work after an injury recently and spent every spare minute taming my garden robin to feed from my hand. Well worth it if you have the time. I never get bored of going out to see him/her and being so close and spending time together
Kim, can’t tell you how much I love your channel. I find my most spiritual connections in nature are when I’m alone. Just me, the birds, the deer, the sun. The feeling is so hard to put into words, but you do a good job of conveying it! I had a moment this summer at sunrise in my local wetland where I literally thought- If I could choose the last sounds and sites at the time of my death, it would be these, and this would be heaven for me!
I'm so loving your videos , I totally agree that the experience of being in the environment where we are shooting pictures is equally if not more important than the end result , I too have changed my outlook lately , I feel less pressure to get " the shot" , if I don't get the perfect shot it really doesn't matter .... I'm out there , seeing , smelling , feeling , hearing the surroundings .... away from life's stresses . Its a privilege to be there . We should all take time yo appreciate it .
Hi Kim! I'm so glad you were photographing those Mute Swans, because that's what I've spent most of this afternoon doing! There's one particular pair of Swans that I've been photographing for a number of years now, down at my local mill dam. I must have well over a thousand images of these two along with their broods of cygnets. And aren't Robins wonderful? I've had so many encounters just like the one you had, literally feet away from me! They're so bold!
Great sunday morning video. Nature is always changing, and never the same. Amazing how still and calm the water is. Kim your work and words are beautiful, thanks again for sharing your day with us, have a blessed and safe upcoming week.
Thanks for sharing a wonderful evening in nature. The wild animals can truly surprise us at times with how close they will come to us if we are just quiet and non-threatening. You captured some wonderful images on this evening.
Hi Kim, thanks for a very special video, I've enjoyed every single minute... by the way, Robins are special birds, seemingly the last birds in the end of the year which you can hear, all other birds can't be heart....
Another wonderful vlog Kim and what a breath of fresh air you are on this wet Sunday morning. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put in to brighten every Sunday morning up , it's much appreciated.
Your swan images were just stunning! I also really enjoyed your Robin encounter and your sweet reaction of innocence. It made me smile. Thanks for sharing your experience!!
Hope that curry was good! Yummo. What an amazing afternoon you had. The Robin encounter was just incredible. It’s not often a birds will be so close to us. Loved the images with the swans too. My two favourite from this video were the ones titled “Together” and “Entangled”. So so lovely to have a sense of fresh autumn calm in the afternoon you’ve shared.
The Robin was a messenger. When things aren’t going right for me, and I’m out walking or in nature, and certain birds appear. I know it’s a sign of some sort, and it usually makes me feel positive.
Definitely a special moment with the Robin. My favourite bird to photograph. The reflections on the Loch with autumn colours with the swans was great. Great image's as usual Kim. Take care and stay safe.
We used to have a couple of Robins that followed us around the garden. As soon as I went out to fill the bird feeders, there they were. One would often come into the shed to find any seed on the floor. One one occasion I had a Robin take some food from my hand. Always keep some bird food in your camera bag.
Great video Kim - very tranquil and loved the swan images. Was a pleasure to bump into you in the car park following my gravel bike ride up to Loch Romach. That’s a great location in the autumn too, where I’ve captured some great images - have you been up there? Keep up the great work!
Wow! That was such a great evening! I recently went out taking some Autumn images and made a video/musical slide show of them. Thanks so much for bringing us along with you. Great stuff!
Ohh my goodness I can't believe I am watching this Kim, not long home and earlier today whilst sitting outside the hotel waiting on Colin Prior and the other photographers I had a robin close to my feet and i see you experiencing the same thing.
It sure is bonnie with the autumn colour up there at the moment, after watching your vid, i decided to take a wander up to the loch, with camera, and managed to grab a few images :)
The light in my part of Australia can be very bright and sometimes harsh but I loved the swan not only was the golden colour was so beautiful but the light was soft. Poets often use autumnal colour imagery to explore themes of transformation and growth. Just what you have been going through with your photography. Lovely photos as always Kim.
That cold snap at the beginning of October, really did set the leaves on fire down my end of the world. And then I started my run of ten shifts and get to see it all from a moving vehicle.😭😭 Hopefully there will be a bit of colour towards the end of the week for me to go out and play. Wonder if Blackpool will be as desolate as your little oasis of calm? Won't get my hopes up, but when life gives you lemons, view them from afar. 😂😂
1:34 That's a fallacy. Switching ro APS-C mode gets you exactly the same result as cropping to the same aea in post. It's better not to switch, because then you can crop to some intermediate size and from some other area of the sensor than the exact centre. A D7200 would cover the APS-C area with 24 megapixels and there is your win.
Although true you can crop in post, the advantage to switching in camera allows you to see on the spot if your composition will work or not. It is a good idea for folks who are still working on improving their composition skills
@@dianebouchard5691 I do not understand how you can think that. Composition does not have to e finalised at the time of capture. if you believe every good photograph fits the shape of your film or camera sensor, you have much to learn.
I agree with you to a certain degree. I'm not suggesting that what is captured in the moment should be the finished product. What's wrong with taking advantage of features found on many camera bodies today? One of the reasons people follow Kim on this channel is because every once in a while, she'll dish out very good bits of information. For some people, that info helps them grow on their personal photography journey. The guy who doesn't own a fancy camera would appreciate Kim's idea on this video.
@@dianebouchard5691 I am happy to use features of cameras that are beneficial. I see no benefit to throwing away cropping opportunities or half my pixels in the field. I used to use a 5Ds, I was happy enough with the ability to crop later that my 80D got a lot less use. The 5Ds has 50 megapixels, the 80D 24, and if I did crop to APS-C proportions, I got 18. Canon DSLRs do not have a crop mode and I used to think that Nikon's crop mode was of some merit. I think that if crop mode is a useful feature then it would be part of Fujifilm, Lumix, Olympus cameras. It's not.
@@oneeyedphotographer I see your point. Keeping in mind that switching to crop can be beneficial for some folks who benefit because of a limited range of lens. It all depends on one's needs versus what is available in the camera bag. Explaining the pros and cons of switching from full sensor to crop in camera seems more useful than discarding the idea right out of hand.
Finally autumn is here, I love the colours.

Wow, What a beautiful day to witness all such magical moments.
I love every minute of this adventure. You were blessed with such beautiful moments and the pictures will make for great visual memories.
The swan photos are stunning. Thanks for the video.
Your videos never cease to amaze me with the nature/spiritual connection. Such a balm in a crazy world. It’s like 15 min of healing.
Many thanks Kim your vlog show it's not always about the photographs bout the opportunity to take them. Taking in the environment that you are in.
Thank you for taking me along on your journey.
Excellent video Kim! Your enthusiasm is contagious. I hope that you have a great week.
Always great days out in nature with some being just a little better than others. The photos are just a bonus. Happy shooting.
Beautiful captures. Thank you for taking us along.
I love some of them abstracts Kim, and a lovely encounter with the robin

You thoroughly enjoyed yourself , and captured some stunning images and wonderful B roll. Thanks for sharing such a magical place.
Your videos make my Sundays so much better. Thank you and greetings from the Ruhr valley in the west of Germany.

The robin was great. I often have cardinals nearby but not as near as the robin was. I agree with you about fall, it's my favorite season, as well.
Robins are special, Coralie associate them with her dad.
Such a stunning video Kim. Thanks for sharing.
some of the best trips, are the random average wildlife with special experiences. Great content, Kim.

That was so beautiful. The graceful swans and Mr Robin were magical. A day well spent in nature ❤
Robins are fearless and plentiful here in north Texas, and so beautiful. Great encounter.

That was absolutely a perfect portrayal of how I feel when I’m on my local patch in South Norfolk. Really charges the human batteries up. Trevor 👍
Love the video so good and jealous. Also calming environment.

Hi Kim, what a beautiful setting, how amazing is nature! Your images are gorgeous & the Robin encounter was a very special moment. x

So sweet. Thanks
What a wonderful day to experience, the autumnal colours were just stunning and the Robin well you were so blessed. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve fed the robin there out of my hand many a time there, such a friendly wee bird and very well fed 😊

Thank you 😊 🙏
wonderful images. thank you. Personally, I'd like it, when you showed the stills, to see some EXIF info. we can learn from that

Cracking video with beautiful colours, did you know that you can train robins to come to your hand.
You nearly knocked your tea over

I've heard Robins are past relatives coming to visit you
If you had some meal worm (robin food) that robin would have come to your hand! now that would have been something for you! Thank You.....
Beautiful video, Kim. The magpies have gone from our garden and the blue tits have returned, really missed them.
And you didn't take a photo of the robin?? What's wrong with you
she was too busy enjoying the experience. Often times is better than the photo itself.
