They played an hour session at Cambridge Folk Festival on Saturday night, July 27, and the audience reaction when this came up ... well it was one those moments you just had to be there.
Absolutely fantastic. Sounds as fresh now as it did at the time it was released. I have seen them in concert many times and they sound as good live as on CD. British music at it's finest.
Saw them at Oobleck in Brum last sunday - fell in love with them all over again - this was the last track they played - I first heard this in a supermarket over an extremely poor sound system - it took some considerable hours of googling to eventually find it - glad I did - spent many a drunken moment alone watching this! Love TB Xx
Two black lines streamin' out like a guidance line Put one foot on the road now where the cyborgs are driving With the WD40 in their veins The screeching little brakes complains With the briefcase empty and the holes in my shoes I try to stay friendly for the sugary abuse So tell my secretary now to hold on all my calls I believe I can hear through these walls Oh, please save me, save me from myself I can't be the only one stuck on the shelf You said you'd always fall for the underdog Well, I've been dreamin' of jet streams and kickin' up dust A thirty seven thousand fool wanderlust And with skyline number 9 ticked off in my mind Oh, can you hear me screamin' out now through the telephone lines? Oh, please save me, save me from myself I can't be the only one stuck on the shelf You said you'd always fall for the underdog Save me, save me, save me, save me
I don't understand the lyrics but i absolutely love the music, the sounds, the voices, the key changes the guitar work and solo. I heard it once years ago and remembered it from the first hearing but suddenly decided to find in on YT and play it every day as well as checking out their other stuff. Some songs just stay with you a lifetime without any effort.
Fantastic song... A little trivia for you all.... =P It was actually written and fully done, video and all, with River Phoenix in mind. ♥ And this music video, is 100% and fully based on River's movie, "My Own Private Idaho". =) Love this song, love my River...♥ Fun facts for you all... =P

Someone, please I'm looking for that Turin Brakes song that goes with the clip of a guy watching some 'adult entertainment' on his TV as a woman makes her way into his appartment. Scared. Eventually she (most likely) jumps out of the window. Does anybody know what song I mean?
The main thing that gets me about this song is the guitar that comes in at about 0:45 . Something about it just brings the song to a totally different level for me… really touches me
saw them live yesterday at Victorious Festival and rapidly remembered why i fell in love them all those years ago. First time i saw them they were the support act opening for James at the MEN.
Flashback! It's been years since I've heard this, it popped up on my suggestions list. And bam. Suddenly it's 2002, it's summer in Worcestershire. Wimbledon, Big Brother and chill. I still know all the words. Just what I needed to hear and think of on a cold November night 20 years later. Happiness is...... 😊
This song sums up Turin Brakes, "Underdogs"....greatest time of my life in my youth on hot summer days, working landscaping and listening to the Optemist and then work day over and after again listening with a cold beer when work day was over..happy days!.... underrated band IMO

I just adore the guitar solo in this. Gale is a master, so under-rated.
One of my favourite solos

Spot on ❤️
Beautiful track. And emergency 72.
A timeless classic.
One of my Turin Brakes favourites.
Best bit of acoustic lead guitar I've ever heard.
People, 2022.......almost the end of the year. Still one of the greatest ac guitar songs of all time.......
Watch them live tonight at Sheffield, Leadmill absolutely fantastic band. Criminally underated -

Thank you for sharing the lyrics!
Unarguably the best acoustic guitar alum of many eras! Such a haunting album, which in my own conspiracy theory, makes it all make sense.
I can’t believe this band wasn’t bigger than it was
Excellent lyrics, excellent vocals, altogether a fucking cracking wee tune.
Sure is!
Wish I had written this 🥳🎸🎧
Nailed it Girl!
As I’ve just discovered this band, this song is just like RHCP is playing a Cocteau Twins song. Marvelous.
I LOVE that analogy and i couldnt agree more
Love this guy's vocals , classic 90s track
It's from 2001 !!
I could listen to the first 20 seconds of this song over and over again for hours

Seeing these guys live in Somerset in about a month with my dad who introduced them to me when I was a kid. Safe to say im slightly fucking excited
On s'attache de Christophe Maé gets into the groove. Les souvenirs sont de si longs couloirs.
such a good song
Great track x
Balham's finest. The only tune I ever put any effort in to learning on the guitar
Its great how they go to "My Own Private Idaho" with the narcoleptic fits and imagery flash right before it
❤
used to fly survey with this album on repeat, great shit

How are Turin Brakes not one of the biggest bands in the world??!!
Cl ot sh ot pre-advertising par excellence.
thanks
Turin Brakes are playing a benefit gig at Tooting Market on 1st December tootingartsclub.co. uk for all ticket info.
Does anybody remember? My Own Private Idaho / River Phoenix / Gus Van Sant
Perhaps it 's preferable that they have never quite become bigtime, it good to think i'll get to see them live in a smallish club
This has to be the only song with a lyric about WD40!!
fucking awsesome song! Love it!
Roswell x
Someone, please

@modette69er precautionary advice from the bicycle safety manual :)
@RoyPortel well, I missed the last chance to heed the call
the guitars are brill, got all off turin brakes, came across asaf avidan, give the track your anchor a listen.
I used to have seizures, I often wondered what it looked like from the outside to see someone just keel over for no apparent reason....
Old Wranglerstar videos brought me here.
I had a mate that did that in the video a lot, he was a smack head tho so he was always dropping down asleep.
Fucking adverts great tune.
Why there is my own private idaho?
@HippyCalliach im staying clear of the ice;)
@AlfredoDepths I had already found it ;-)
It’s a great song . Even if they nicked the chorus lead guitar line off The Farm.
save me from myself
Solo-ist top-drawer-dinair :) Chills

One of my favorite memories is seeing them in Utrecht at the Tivoli 10+ years back. Great night!
2024 still listening to the good stuff.
Timeless 👌👌
Not listened to this in years and on a whim slammed this CD in the car last week. Great feel good tunes.
A great song. The blues solo around 3:06 is spine tinglingly beautiful. Love the drop bending. I think I'll listen to this again and again and again.
Used to finish playing this, then put it on again, then again. Once was never enough. LOVE this song.
