Failure to properly renew copyright is the reason that Arsenic and Old Lace is in the Public Domain, even though it was released in 1944. Constance Klosterman - Фільми й анімація
One of the funniest well acted best movies ever!
I’ll never understand why Cary grant didn’t like his performance in this. Film. He is pitch perfect. Timing is perfect too.
Because he really wasn't that good. More over the top than required. Not truly a comic actor. And because the play had been on Broadway for like 100 years, the public had many actors to compare him to. The guy was a very controlling freak, actually. Handsome for sure. But that's what I've read.
Comic Genius performance by the elegant and sophisticated Cary Grant. I love his early career movies that truly showed his talent for physical comedy, his facial expressions are priceless, they always make me laugh out loud.
I'm nearly crying. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
Jace Goodness. Goodness
It's never actually been Halloween (each year) unless I've been able to see this movie! Wonderful, wonderful stuff.
My brother played "the son of a sea cook" in a community play when we were kids. 8^)
They ought not to make such pictures frightening. SAYS THE MURDERERS. That's why this movie is brilliant with its ironic humor.
I must've seen the stage play four times and NEVER have I seen any actor come up to the performance level of Cary Grant. How tragic is that!!??
"We never dreamed you'd peek!"
I do think Grant overacted in some parts of this film, but he played this scene perfectly. I think he pulled off his mix of gradual realization, shock, and concern in a way few actors could do as well.
We never dreamed you peek.
We put it in wine because it's less noticeable, but when it's in tee it has a distinct odor!
Brilliant movie, genius!
This movies was pure genius!!!
love love love it!
Such a great film 🎥 👏 ...1st time I saw this, I was floored/amazed 😀 so excellent on many levels
Classic movie,, Cary Grant is at his best in this
We put this up as a play in the local theatre 5 years ago. It was a huge success, and probably the most fun we've ever had. I was just in charge of the techincals (audio and lights), but it was still a lot of fun, though :)
Arsenic and Old Lace stands as the most performed play in community theater. I started my theater career in a production as Officer Brophy (Irish accent included.) Years later in another production, I was Dr. Einstein (a la Peter Lorre.)
I love this movie
She said so casual!!
interesting to note that cary grant thought this was the worst performance of his career.
hsojlocin Yes-he felt his performance was “too terribly over the top”...and it actually low-key devastates me knowing he felt that way about it, as I think he nailed the role of Mortimer.
1:52 got HUGE laughs at the performance I attended. Good times.
THIS FILM IS A DOUBLE CLASSIS WITH A BAG OF CHIPS OR IF YOU PREFER A BAG OF POPCORN ON THE SIDE
"This is first degree !"
Such a great film!!
Doing this scene for school.
Hey, mister.
They could've made this into a series and called it Dexter's Aunts.
Extremely dangerous Johnny
when the curtain goes up...the first thing you see is a dead body, the next thing....wooah!...hey mista...(and the rest of it writes itself)
It was a play first, so there was very little originality in the movie, but I agree that it's genius.
Wow...
Hilarious.
Cary Grant took risks as an actor.
Hilarious!!
Joesphine Hull From Harvey
