  • WHATS UP YALL, i have had so many people hit me up wondering how the new Geometry Dash 2.2 Gradient Trigger worked, so here we are!!! Figured i would make a video about how to use it, as well as making some cool stuff with it, so i hope you enjoy!!!

      Tip: No one at this point is good at the editor yet. The standards I terms of polished-ness are really low. You can have simple and quick levels - just make sure the gameplay is kinda fun and it uses new features in an interesting way. Then they will be received well.

    Just to let you know, if you set the UR and UL vertices to the same group, you can make triangles, which allows you to make every polygon. That could be revolutionary.

      @IonRuby if you are talking about squares, then it can be made by two triangles. If you are talking about the 3d cube, then it can be made by a lot of triangles.

      Does setting two vertices to the same group make transparency issues?
      Edit: It doesn't. GD is smarter than the Sega Saturn.

    I’m so confused with the 3d part. He didn’t show the follow trigger. I make the big square turn but not the little one, even though I did everything right that was shown in the vid.

    2.2 isn’t an update, it’s an entire 3d game engine. Just wait until Spu7nix makes a script to bring blender models into gd.

    BRO I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM THIS! Gradient trigger tutorial was simple to understand, but i finally learned how to use the follow trigger, too! (REALLY hoped youd get more in detail with the parralax tho) Gonna make some insane stuff with this...

    The moment I touched it, I knew the gradient trigger was a game changer.
    After 2.2 released I messed around with all of the triggers in a level and the gradient trigger stuck out to me instantly and I took to messing around with it instantly, I knew it was only a matter of time until something like this happened.
    This is absolutely crazy

    I didn't realize the Gradient trigger had that much potential initially and thought it was overhyped, but this really showed me the power that it holds. I wouldn't compare it to the greatness of the particle trigger or even the scale trigger, but it sure is fascinating what you can do with it.

    Just imagine it, a 4D object, for example the Tesseract, replicated with the gradient trigger, that’ll make an insane background effect

    I used the gradient mixed with area move triggers to create dynamic shadows
    On top of that, I added an area tint to make the lighting look even cooler

    here's a cool tidbit: as long as you are able to link the groups properly, you can condense this entirely into 13 groups. you can even make literal meshes with groups
