Incorrect. Many South Africans who lived abroad (even for several decades) always want to come back. Now they will finally have the freedom to come back at their own leisure without having to beg a dysfunctional home affairs.
It's not just about having dual citizenship. A lot of South Africans moved to South West Africa in the late 70s to work in mines, which at the time was a province of South Africa. After Namibia gained its independence in 1990, the South Africans working in Namibia automatically lost their citizenship. The children who were not of age yet, couldn't apply for a South African ID. These are the people who would like to obtain their citizenship and hopefully reconnect with their families who are living in South Africa. Dual citizenship gives you flexibility to visit and stay without time frames and I guess that's what a lot of people want to do when visiting their families and have that option to relocate and be with family again.
Hypothetically. What if the people who immigrated to other countries, committed crimes in those countries, are incarcerated, and now reclaim their citizenship, in order to get out of jail, would SA then mediate on that persons behalf to reintegrate that person back?
The most important people who must be catered for are the families that were forced to leave by racist Apartheid system. Others can just assume their current Nationalities and keep it moving
