  • A book series review of the first five Left Behind books by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins. Are these really the must-read best Christian books of all time? How is the theology and religious depth? The end times prophecy and the antichrist?

Since I've only seen the movies, I can't really comment on the books, but I do intend to read them.
And I find that the general consensus of this book being a "persona non grata" even among those who agree with the pre mil pre trib eschatology, to be quite disturbing.
They got a lot of stuff right on the movies.
I mean, in those days, to actually "predict" the ways in which the U.N. would be used as part of the whole thing.
A scenario in which Israel becomes indispensable to the world, because of a food crisis.
How there will be a few groups fighting for the jews and against the anti-christ system.
Anyway, it was pretty accurate in most things it portrayed, and we see today, more than 20 years later, a lot of the things shown there to be setting themselves in that direction.

I actually agree and this would have been a good thing to talk about. The books and the movies do honestly give a good job of presenting a picture of what the end times might look like in our modern international setting. Mostly, my critique is of everything else, like the character and emotional story beats, which are not as interesting as all the government and world stuff that I would really want to be reading about instead.

Yeah, it happens. Some writers can think of a great scenario and be really smart, but when it's put into words in a story/novel, it doesn't quite work.
      Thanks for the reply.
