Hi Angela, my husband and I never miss your videos and love that our zone in Central Florida is the same as yours! We have turned our front and back yard into edibles and natives. We owe much of our success to all of your advice and expertise! Your garden is what we aspire to one day and we appreciate you!
I companion plant by making my garden a food forest type setting. The trees use the top space. Bushes down below. Vines in between on trellises. Everything works together really good
I love that you keep it simple... flowers herbs vegetables- easy to remember! I practice this type of planting in my own gardens, it makes it a beautiful space and also works very well!
Your garden is amazing! I am learning to garden in Tucson. My daughter lives in Mesa...and it's a brutal climate. I'm amazed and encouraged to see your lush garden!❤
Great video!! I have been using oregano as ground cover to hold a large slope on the back side of our pool. We are in zone 8a NC so it’s living it’s best life and the pollinators love it!!
I really enjoyed learning about these two topics, companion and succession planting. Really informative and good stuff to apply in my upcoming garden for July or next year. Planning makes for a more successful garden. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences.
Thanks for sharing all this helpful information. Your garden looks a lot like mine. I try to do the same thing. If you are ever unsure of what to plant with what, all you have to do is google it. When you do it will tell you if the plants in question are compatible with each other. What did we do before Google?😊😊😊😊😊
What a great looking garden! Love the beneficials. Eating home grown or local has so many benefits. I used to have several beds but wanted to do something more organic or free-flowing in design. I'm in East Phoenix so it's wonderful to see this.. Look forward to checking out more of your videos.
Terrific video! (You might need more corn for good pollination; but it looks promising!). Like you, I like to add garlic here and there; it deters so many otherwise hungry pests with its strong smell. Onions, as well. And plenty of flowers - your garden is beautiful!
Angela, you are a great example to follow. I'd love to start a garden but I'm afraid of failing. Would you recommend a companion book to read? Thank you and best wishes for a bountiful harvest❤😊
My book, "How to Grow Your Own Food" amzn.to/45jrHKb is a simple way to begin. I would also recommend Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew amzn.to/3o9DGt3
I have learned so much from you. Thank you for your channel. grow in the high desert of Prescott Az. I find that corn does better for me in the ground. It didn’t do well here when I planted it in containers.
I started using Mel's Square Foot Gardening back in the early 80's while living in Van Nuys, California with great success. I moved to Arizona in 1987 and have had some success but this year with this heat I am struggling to grow anything . I live in the Casa Grande, AZ area and the U of A Ag in Maricopa, Az is having a lot of Master Gardeners on August 26 at there facility and was wondering if you were going to be there?
I teach a monthly live online gardening class through Patreon called Growing in the Garden Academy. Gardening in the low desert of Arizona presents unique challenges. Adapting to the current conditions, planting & fertilizing at the right time is crucial.
Thank you so much. I will be looking into it. Will you be doing anything like live in person events like in the past? I seen that u did some before at the mesa library. I hope u have a great day. Thank u for sharing ur gardening talents and gifts with us all ❤

When they are small the rabbits love them so you have to keep them safe. I put Solo cups around them (bottom cut out) so the can’t get to them. Once the plants Are bigger they thrive on their own.
I keep loosing my squash to some kind of moth that lays its eggs at the base of my plants and killing them. Have you had this happen and do you have tips on how to stop this from happening? Would companion planting help? Thank you. I’m gardening in zone 8. ☺️
my bet is your corn is NOT in a large enough patch (they say 10 x 10 feet ) i have not tried it here in Mesa BUT in California I could not get it to grow either I would concentrate on things I know will grow LIKE the Armenia cucumber (which you introduced me too ) Glenda
I've lost most of my tomatoes, other things are struggling for sure. The biggest surprise is that anything is still alive. Lots are still plugging along.
@@GrowingInTheGarden have you had any success with sweet corn ? Spring of fall plantings, I've got soil finally, hopefully to get a crop, Just now need to be vigilant with corn ear worms, they're here.
@@johac7637 Not really, when I plant a very large area and pay very close attention, then I get some, but the weather has to cooperate too. I don't grow much anymore.

I like the advice of planting at least 1 herb and 1 flower per bed. Definitely will incorporate that in my new beds.
Your garden is a place of beauty. I only do containers because of age and health but have added some more flowers this year.
Thank you for your videos Angela. You do a great job and I learn something new every time.
Angela you have a beautiful garden. Love learning new techniques. You’re a great teacher. 😊

With all these mixed beds, is it safe to assume that you do not need to purposely rotate crops?

This is the cleanest, prettiest garden! Thanks for the tour and info. I'm in 8a, W. TN. Where are you?
Mesa, Arizona zone 9b
I'm curious as to what you're using for mulch on your beds. Shredded pine? Looks very good - thank you for sharing.
Wood chips - I get them from Arizona Worm Farm
Flys are crushing my kale and lettuces
Kale and lettuce both prefer cooler temperatures. As temps heat up pests are drawn to the plants as they finish their life cycle.
How do you prevent it from getting so crowded as it all grows?

Barrier methods seem to be the most effective. Pests like that are frustrating for sure!
Im having a hot and humid weather. Never managed to get any harvest from zucchinis even it thriving for a bit
