    While the shows mentioned might have been historically significant, they most certainly were not the "first 5 TV series in history".

    The first two series described really were the first two in TV history, but the next three were more influential.

    How could you possibly not include "Meet The Press", which started in November 1947 and is still on the air to this day making it one of the earliest and longest-running television shows in history.

    Texaco Star Theatre averaged an 80% share of the audience.Television ownership increased four fold because of its popularity.Many businesses closed early because there was no business white it aired.

    Being an American, my Mom (born in 1930) told me that even when she had first left the "Farm" and moved into Town in 1949, that Television was unknown to her. She and my Father bought their first TV 📺 set in the late 1950's. Maybe in 1958.

      Corner bars usually had the only TVs in town, or at least on their block, in the immediate postwar period in the US. They showed another series not covered here - pro wrestling.

    I would argue Twilight Zone was not that ground breaking. Yes it was an exceptionally well executed with great stories, but the earlier show Tales Of Tomorrow was the first to anthologize speculative stories on a weekly basis. Some of the episodes I have managed to see are really good, and would not have been out of place in Rod Serling's show

    • @David-yw2lv
      @David-yw2lv 2 місяці тому +5

      Tales of Tomorrow was basically science fiction.Twilight Zone also had fantasy and supernatural stories.

    There were many, many TV shows on the air before Lucy. Four networks cranking out shows as far back as 1948 makes this look like bull****. Click bait?? The "historian" speaks uninformed garbage here. I just couldn't finish this crap. From the comments, it seems to get worse.

    before "I Love Lucy" started! Please get your facts straight!
