- In this video, I am springtime crappie fishing with @MulletMan. We are wading for spawning crappie with our 10' ACC Crappie Stix. We absolutely destroy these spawning crappie in 1 foot of water. Once again, this is a great example on how to catch spawning crappie in the spring time. Wading for spawning crappie can be tricky, but once you find them, usually its game over. We searched and searched on this day and finally, the last spot we came to was loaded with spawning crappie. The crappie spawn of 2024 is on fire right now in East Texas. When I wade I always use a cane pole that I find around the lake so it's free and a lot more back bone so you can pull the crappie straight out of the brush with no problem

Great video. You guys nailed it. As far as folks asking about keeping crappie during the spawn. If you don't keep numbers under control, they will stunt . I know lakes that didn't let folks keep crappie during the spawn years ago. Now they have no limits and really small crappie.

Thanks for the content you keep pushing out for us. Black crappies are beautiful around spring time Especially up North.They're more black and have more of that purple and blue reflective color to them

Awesome video. Man what are you doing that you ain’t telling us? Spent the day on pines trying to do the same thing to no avail. Between soft bottom to buck brush, just couldn’t locate any fish. Hell maybe I just suck that bad at fishing! Keep up the content tho, least I can watch somebody else catch them!!
Man there might just not have been fish there, I have hopped out of boat, no bites, I move on untill I find some fish!

You said in a previous video you start looking for them up shallow at 55 degrees. What temp do you stop looking for them up shallow in the type of cover y'all are fishing?
I am a DFW angler so not too different of timeline from east TX. Never targeted crappie in the past, but I have a couple spots I know of that look really similar to the brush you were fishing here. The water was 64* on the last report at my lake and I'm wondering how long I have to get after it.

So question even though it’s 50/60s here in Texas right now crappie will still bite in the shallow like 1-2 feet ?
As long as the water temps are steady mid 60’s they should definitely be shallow!

Not dogging just curious what would happen if nobody kept any catch for just 1 spawn how the fish population would be ?
Fish population is plentiful down here. No worries. People freak out about it, no need to. That’s the biologists job. Limits and length laws are put into law for a reason. We where actually wayyyy under our limit for the day as a group. And these fish were given away at the boat ramp to 3 different people. They hadn’t caught much all day and boom now they can feed their family. Thanks for watching! God bless

@@donaldjackson4456if there's ever too many of a certain species in a body of water. There will be a die off. The population will regulate itself us anglers just give it a helping hand.
You have to take fish out every year to maintain a healthy population. Too many fish means smaller fish overall. In my home lake they encourage keeping under 9” fish to improve the size over the next few years. We can have 30 total but only 15 over 9”.. but you could keep 30
It would overpopulate and then the fish would be stunted In their growth from the lack of bait and ecosystem to support the fish is my best guess.
